Grow Up Healthy
Good morning, everyone!
As we grow up, we are expected to lead a healthy life. However, there is a growing
concern that problems like eating junk food, lacking exercise and being addicted to online
games still exist among us teenagers.
To improve the present situation, I suggest that we stick to a healthy diet and regular
exercise, which can work wonders for us. Besides, less exposure to electronic devices will
do good to both our mental and physical health. More importantly, we should learn to look at the
bright side and stay positive when facing challenges.
In conclusion, let's take action from this very moment to grow up healthy and sound.
That's all. Thank you.
第二节:读后续写
One possible version:
“Mom, I wanted to help, too,” she sobbed. She felt like she had missed out. I didn’t know
how to let her understand that two quarters was too little. But before I could make up a suitable
explanation, she announced, “Mom, he needs help!” I sighed and turned around. Seeing us
again, the gentleman looked confused. I awkwardly explained that my other daughter wanted
to give him her money just as her elder sister had just done. He peered into the van window to see
my pig-tailed four-year-old grinning from ear to ear. “I want to help you!” she declared
proudly.
Now with tears in his eyes, he said in disbelief, “You want to help me?” She nodded firmly
and happily. Then June proudly handed him Scarlett’s coins. He tightly clutched them in his
dirt-stained hand and showered us with sincere blessings. Two quarters wasn’t much, even to the
man, but what mattered to him and us was the loving gesture my girls made. On our way backhome, June put her hand on her heart, closed her eyes, and told her little sister, “It feels so good to
help someone, doesn’t it, Sister baby?” Scarlett agreed. With big smiles, they sank back into
their seats.

Text 10
M: Thank you very much. Thank you, Dr. Johnson.Well,it is really great to be back at university
again. The thing that I wanted to tell you today is this: Education is important.
When I came to the U. S. , I was only thinking about being a carpenter. But I could not read the
newspaper, and I could not understand the news on television or movies or anything like this. So I
entered the City College to take English classes for foreign students. I was very proud that I was
going to a college, because no one in my family ever went to any college or to any university. You
know, when you're 15 years old in my country, you finish school and then you learn a trade, and
that's exactly what I did. When I was 15 years old I learned how to be a carpenter. A year later I
came to America. Luckily I met a very good teacher who encouraged me to take some math
classes, business classes, and history classes, and I became a full-time college student. And today, when I look back, I'm so happy because you never know where life will take you. All of a sudden
I started making money because I was really good at math. You know, how to work out everything
with math is so important. This is something that I learned when I started my own business, which
is doing really well.
