Step 1 Lead - in (5 minutes)
The teacher shows some pictures or video clips of people communicating in different
situations through multimedia and asks students, "What can you see in these
pictures/videos? Do you think their communication is effective? Why or why not?"
Guide students to think and answer, leading to the topic of effective communication
skills in this lesson.
Let students share their difficulties or successful experiences in communicating with
others, create a relaxed classroom atmosphere, and stimulate students' learning
interest.
Step 2 Vocabulary Learning (8 minutes)
Use the PPT to display the key vocabulary and phrases that appear in 1a - 2c, such as
"conversation skills", "sincere", "body language", "mention", "argue with", etc. Help
students understand the meanings of the words through pictures, English
explanations, or example sentences. For example, show pictures of people using body
language during communication to explain "body language"; use the example
sentence "Don't argue with your parents." to explain "argue with".
Lead students to read the vocabulary and phrases and correct their pronunciations.
Then play a vocabulary game called "Word Quick - Response". The teacher shows
word pictures or states word definitions, and students quickly respond with the

Step 3 Reading Practice (15 minutes)
Skimming: Distribute printed materials of the reading article to students. Let

the topic sentences of each paragraph, cultivating skimming skills. Invite students to
share the main idea they found, and the teacher summarizes and supplements.
Scanning: The teacher asks some specific questions, such as "What are the tips for
making better conversations?" "What topics should we avoid when talking to others?"
Let students read the article again to quickly find the answers. After students find the
answers, they check with their deskmates. The teacher checks the answers and
explains, helping students master scanning skills.
Intensive Reading: The teacher leads students to read the article paragraph by
paragraph. Analyze the long and difficult sentences in the article, such as "One of themost important things is to listen to the person you speak to. If you are a good
listener, you will find some good points to ask questions about." Explain the sentence
structures and grammar knowledge to help students understand the article content.
At the same time, guide students to pay attention to good words and sentences in the
article, such as "Be honest and sincere." Let students imitate and make sentences to
accumulate language expressions.
Step 4 Discussion and Sharing (12 minutes)
Organize students to have group discussions on the following questions: "What do
you think makes a good listener?" "Do you think it's important to choose the right
topic when communicating? Why?" "What other tips can you add to improve
communication skills?" Each group selects a group leader to organize the discussion
and record the results.
After the group discussions, each group selects a representative to speak and share
the group's discussion results with the whole class. Students from other groups listen
carefully and can make supplements and ask questions. During the students'
speeches, the teacher guides students to think deeply, encourages students to express
different views, and cultivates students' critical thinking and language - expressing
abilities.

Step 5 Writing Practice (10 minutes)

of listening, methods of choosing appropriate topics, skills of using body language,
etc. Remind students to use the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns, and pay
attention to the structure and logic of the article.
Students' Writing: Students start writing according to the points they listed. The
teacher walks around and provides individual guidance, encouraging students to
express their ideas boldly and pay attention to the correct use of grammar and
vocabulary. Remind students to write neatly and divide the article into appropriate
paragraphs.
Presentation and Evaluation: Invite 3 - 4 students to come to the front of the
