Step 1 Greeting and Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet students warmly: "Hello, boys and girls! How are you today? What did
you do at home last weekend?" Have a simple daily conversation with studentsto create a relaxed classroom atmosphere.
Show some pictures of people doing housework and family activities. Guide
students to observe and ask: "What can you see in the pictures? Do you do
these things at home? What chores do you usually do?" Encourage students to
speak actively and share the housework they do at home, leading to the theme
of this lesson "Home Sweet Home".
Step 2 Presentation (8 minutes)
Use PPT to display the pictures of housework activities in 1a. Present phrases
like "pack up things", "sweep the floor", "clean the bathroom" one by one. Lead
students to read and explain their meanings. Use actions, picture comparisons
and other methods to help students understand and remember.
Teach new words, such as "hang up" and "sort". Show relevant action or item
pictures, and combine with examples like "This is how we hang up clothes."
and "We need to sort these things." to help students understand the usage of
the words.
Present the key sentence patterns "Can/Could you please...?" and "Could I...?".
The teacher demonstrates the pronunciation, explains the sentence structure
and usage, and guides students to understand the meanings of the sentences
and the different tones when making polite requests and asking for permission.
Compare examples like "Can you please close the window?" and "Could you
please close the window?" to let students feel the tone differences.
Step 3 Listening Practice (10 minutes)
Ask students to look at the activities in 1a. The teacher says, "Now, let's listen
to some conversations. Please tick the things that Jim's dad asks him to do."
Play the recording of 1b. After students complete the task, check the answers.
Play the recording of 1b again. Ask students to complete the summary blanks
in 1b. After the recording ends, invite students to share their answers, and
explain and check the answers to help students understand the listening
content. Explain key information and paraphrases that appear in the listening.
Step 4 Pair Work (7 minutes)
The teacher sets an example: "Let's talk about the chores. Can you please
sweep the floor? Sure. I'll do it right away."
Ask students to work in pairs. Imitate the example and talk about housework
using the key sentence patterns. The teacher walks around the groups,
observes students' conversation situations, and gives guidance and help in
time, such as correcting pronunciation and grammar mistakes, and guiding
students to expand the conversation content.
Invite several groups of students to show their dialogues. Praise the excellent
groups and correct and encourage the groups with problems. Evaluate fromaspects such as pronunciation, intonation, sentence - pattern usage, and

Step 5 Pronunciation (5 minutes)
Play the pronunciation practice audio. Display the phonetic symbol
classification, such as /æ/ (pack, sweep, etc.) and /uː/ (room, spoon, etc.). Let
students follow and imitate, paying attention to the mouth shape and tongue
position of pronunciation.
Play the audio again. Students follow the reading. The teacher emphasizes the
rhythm and intonation of the sentences. Invite individual students to imitate
the reading and give corrections and guidance, such as pointing out
pronunciation skills like liaison and stress.
Step 6 Listening and Speaking (10 minutes)
Play the dialogue recording of 2a. Ask students to listen and think about the
questions: "What does Peter's mum ask him to do? What does Peter choose to do?"
After the recording ends, invite students to answer the questions.
Play the recording again. Students follow the dialogue to imitate the pronunciation
and intonation. Then ask students to work in pairs, read the dialogue in roles, paying
attention to the pronunciation, intonation and emotional expression, such as showing
different tones when making requests and responses.
Invite several groups of students to show their performances. Other students listen
carefully and evaluate. The teacher makes a final summary and feedback, evaluating
from aspects such as the integrity of the dialogue, the accuracy of pronunciation and
intonation, and the richness of emotional expression.
Recite the key words and phrases learned in this class. Ask parents to sign to
confirm, and there will be a word quiz the next day.
