Step 1 Greeting and Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet students warmly: "Hello, boys and girls! How are you
today?" Have a simple daily conversation with students to
create a relaxed classroom atmosphere.
Show some pictures of people on holidays, and guide
students to observe and ask: "What can you see in the
pictures? Do you like holidays? What do you usually do
during holidays?" Encourage students to speak actively and
share their holiday activities, thus leading to the theme
of this lesson - Happy Holiday.
Step 2 Presentation (8 minutes)
Use PPT to show the pictures of holiday activities in 1a,
present phrases like "took music lessons", "visited my
grandparents", "went to a festival" one by one. Lead
students to read and explain their meanings, and help
students understand and remember them through actions,
pictures, etc.
Teach new words like "ancient" and "amazing". Show relevant
pictures of ancient buildings and amazing scenery, and
combine with examples like "This is an ancient building."
"The view is amazing." to help students understand the
usage of the words.
Present key sentence patterns "Where did...go on
holiday/vacation?", "Did he/she do anything interesting?",
"How was...holiday?". The teacher demonstrates reading,
explains the sentence structure and usage, and guidesstudents to understand the meanings of the sentences.
Step 3 Listening Practice (10 minutes)
Let students look at the activities in 1a. The teacher
says, "Now, let's listen to some conversations. Please
circle the holiday activities you hear in 1a." Play the
recording of 1b. After students complete the task, check
the answers.
Play the recording of 1b again. Ask students to complete
the two summary blanks in 1b. After playing, invite
students to share the answers, explain and check the
answers to help students understand the listening content.
Step 4 Pair Work (7 minutes)
The teacher demonstrates: "Let's talk about Yaming's and
Emma's holidays. Where did Yaming go on holiday? He went to
Mount Huangshan. Did he do anything interesting? Yes, he
saw the Guest - Greeting Pine, the Sea of Clouds, lots of
strange rocks, and many ancient buildings."
Let students work in pairs and talk about Yaming's and
Emma's holidays following the example. The teacher walks
around each group, observes the students' conversations,
and gives guidance and help in a timely manner.
Invite several groups of students to show their
conversations. Praise the excellent groups and correct and
encourage the groups with problems.
Step 5 Pronunciation (5 minutes)
Play the pronunciation practice audio, show the phonetic
symbol classification, such as /i:/ (he, she, see, need,
etc.), /ɪ/ (trip, swim, city, busy, etc.). Let students
follow and imitate, paying attention to the mouth shape and
tongue position of pronunciation.
Play the audio again. Students follow the reading. The
teacher emphasizes the rhythm and intonation of the
sentences. Invite individual students to imitate and read,
and correct and guide them.
Step 6 Listening and Speaking (10 minutes)
Play the dialogue recording of 2a. Let students listen and
think about the questions: "Where did Peter go on holiday?What did he do there?" After playing, invite students to
answer the questions.
Play the recording again. Students follow the reading of
the dialogue, imitating the pronunciation and intonation.
Then let students work in pairs, read the dialogue in
roles, paying attention to the pronunciation,
3.intonation and emotional expression.
Invite several groups of students to show. Other students
listen carefully and evaluate. The teacher finally
summarizes and gives feedback.
Step 7 Grammar Focus (5 minutes)
Show the sentences in Grammar Focus, guide students to
observe and find out the indefinite pronouns in them, such
as "anything", "nothing", "someone", "anyone", etc.
Explain the basic usage of indefinite pronouns. Compare
through examples like "Did you do anything interesting on
your holiday? (used in interrogative sentences)", "I met
someone interesting. (used in affirmative sentences)", "No,
nothing special. (used in negative sentences)" to help
students understand their usage in different sentence
patterns.
Step 8 Practice (5 minutes)
Let students complete the dialogue - filling exercise in
3b, using the learned indefinite pronouns to complete the
sentences. The teacher walks around and observes the
students' answering situations, and gives guidance in a
timely manner.
Invite students to share the answers, explain and check the
answers, and focus on explaining and strengthening the
exercises for students' mistakes.
Recite the key words and phrases learned in this lesson.
Parents should sign to confirm, and there will be a small
vocabulary quiz the next day.
