Step 1. Review and Lead - in (5 minutes)
Use PPT to display some pictures of housework activities. Randomly select
students to describe the pictures using the sentence pattern "Can/Could
you please...?" to review the vocabulary and sentence patterns learned in
the previous lesson. Ask students to share the short passages about doing housework they
wrote after class in the previous lesson. Select some excellent works for
display and praise, and briefly comment on and correct the existing
problems.
Step 2. Grammar Explanation (10 minutes)
Present some sentences containing conditional clauses introduced by "if",
such as "If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home." and "If you help me
with the housework, I will buy you an ice - cream." Guide students to
observe the sentence structure and explain the composition and usage of
conditional clauses introduced by "if".
Emphasize the principle of "future tense in the main clause and present
tense in the subordinate clause", that is, the main clause uses the simple
future tense, and the subordinate clause uses the simple present tense to
express future meaning. Use more examples for comparison and practice,
such as "If he comes, I will tell him the news." and "I will go to the park if it
doesn't rain." to help students understand and master the correct tense
collocation.
Let students do some simple sentence - making exercises, using
conditional clauses introduced by "if" to describe family scenarios or
activities. Invite some students to share their sentences and give timely
feedback and guidance.
Step 3. Reading Training (15 minutes)
Skimming: Display the reading material in 3a. Let students quickly skim
through the passage and answer the question "What is the main idea of
the passage?" Guide students to learn to obtain the main idea of the
passage through skimming and cultivate their ability of fast reading and
summarizing.
Scanning: Read the passage again. Let students read intensively with
questions such as "Who did what to prepare for the grandparents' visit?"
and "What are the details about each person's preparation?" Ask students
to find the key information in the passage and mark it. After reading,
organize students to have a group discussion and share the information
they found. The teacher walks around the groups and gives necessary
guidance and help.
Language Knowledge Learning: Combine the reading passage to explain
the key vocabulary and phrases in the passage, such as "make one's bed"
and "take out the rubbish". Use examples to help students understand their
usage. At the same time, guide students to pay attention to some beautiful
expressions in the passage, such as the sentences describing the warm
family atmosphere, and encourage students to accumulate and imitate.Step 4. Writing Practice (10 minutes)
Writing Guidance: Based on the reading passage and the content learned
in this lesson, guide students to do a writing exercise. Give the writing
topic, such as "Preparing for a Family Party". Help students sort out their
writing ideas and list the writing points, such as determining the people
attending the party, the food to be prepared, and the way to decorate the
room.
Student Writing: Let students write according to the points they listed.
Require them to use the learned vocabulary, sentence patterns, and
grammar knowledge, and try to make the sentences smooth and the
expression clear. The teacher walks around to observe the students' writing
situation, gives timely guidance and help, and encourages students to
express their ideas boldly.
Presentation and Evaluation: Invite some students to share their
compositions. Other students listen carefully and give evaluations, putting
forward suggestions from aspects such as content completeness, language
accuracy, and grammar correctness. The teacher finally makes a summary
evaluation, affirms the students' advantages, points out the existing
problems, and gives directions for improvement.
