Welcome, campers! We’re so excited to have you here after the school term. I’m Gary Lawson. I’m in charge
of the camp activities that you’ll experience this summer. I recognize some old faces from last year’s winter camp,
but as many people are new, let me tell you a bit about Camp Lokanda. We’ve been offering fun-filled adventures
to boys and girls since 1937! A lot has changed over the years, but we do have one “old-fashioned” rule here…no
screens! So, any personal electronics must be handed in at the camp office. It may seem difficult to imagine
spending a whole month here without your phone. But we believe camp is a chance to slow down and connect with
nature. Don’t worry…there are phones in the common room (公共休息室) to call home every few days. And you
certainly won’t be bored! We offer everything from baseball and water-skiing to candy-making and music. We also
hold many special events, including competitions and weekly movie nights in the outdoor meeting space. We’re
going to have a lot of fun together!

“When I was young, I had so much energy and I loved building things. If I had an idea, I had to build it right
now using what I could find around me,” says Danish artist Thomas Dambo. When Dambo was seven years old, he
bought a mountain of cushions (垫子) from a nearby market to build a game room in his parents’ house. As a
teenager, he built a “crazy” castle in his backyard.
Years later, 42-year-old Dambo is proudly showing his latest work: a giant (巨人) called Little Lui. Five
meters tall, Little Lui is one of the six giants placed in the corners of Peel Region of Western Australia, which will
be on show for at least a year. This work makes Dambo’s giants up to 99 around the world. His gentle giants have
found homes in many different countries, as far as the United States, Belgium, China, Denmark, South Korea and
now in Australia.
“For me, giants represent (代表) the voice of nature,” Dambo says. This deep respect for nature is the focus
of Dambo’s building works. Dambo’s giants are made almost from local recycled wood: their faces from second-
hand furniture and their hair from tree branches and leaves. Taking about 750 hours to complete, each giant is built
out in nature.
“I hope by visiting the giants, people will think of rubbish as a resource. I think it’s really important that next
generations are connected to nature,” Dambo says. “That’s why I tried to build the giants to attract young people. I
want people to be inspired and to realize they don’t need a lot to create something big and beautiful.”
24.Which of the following can best describe young Dambo?
A.Creative. B.Homesick. C.Powerful. D.Frightened.
25.What can we know about Little Lui?
A.It is kept underground. B.It’s Dambo’s first giant.
C.It will be shown to the public. D.It will be sent to Denmark.
26.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
