Bad days happen to many of us. Something makes us sad, angry, frustrated or disappointed.
But you still have to get up and go to work. Something others say to you sounds stupid. Someone
seems to annoy you. Luckily, you can do something about it. Here are some ways to turn around a
bad day.
Accept your bad mood
Being in a bad mood is not that bad. If you’re mad, be mad. If you’re sad, be sad. But this does
not give you license to be rude and unpleasant to others. It just means that you need to recognize and
accept your bad mood to be able to do something.
Tell others
You can try to keep your bad mood a s… and put on your happy mask. But you’re fooling
nobody. The best thing to do is to tell the people you work closely with. Simply tell them, “Listen,
I’m in a really bad mood today. I’m not sure why, but it has nothing to do with you. If I bite your
head off, I apologize in advance.”
Remember the good
Spend a few moments trying thinking of at least one or two things that aren’t all bad, or
something you look forward to, such as a person you like at work or something nice that happened
recently.
Take some quiet timeTake a walk in your lunch break. Sit and work somewhere quiet. Take a long bathroom break.
Consider going home early or taking the day off.
28.What may help when you’re unhappy?
A.Thinking of good things.
B.Thinking of bad things.
C.Keeping it to yourself.
29.How may a quiet place help when you’re in a bad mood?
A.Make you better. B.Make you lonely. C.Trouble you.
30.What is the proper word in the sentence “You can try to keep your bad mood a s… and put on
your happy mask.”?
A.Secret. B.Sense. C.Shock.
31.What does the passage mainly tell us?
A.How to get along with others.
B.How to deal with a bad mood.
C.Everyone has bad days.
28.A 29.A 30.A 31.B
Spend a few moments trying thinking of at least one or two things
that aren’t all bad, or something you look forward to, such as a person you like at work or something
nice that happened recently.”
故选A。
根据最后一段“Sit and work somewhere quiet.”
故选A。
根据下文“The best thing to do is to tell the people you work closely with.”可
知,最好是把坏心情说出来,结合“But you’re fooling nobody.”
选A。
根据第一段“Here are some ways to turn around a bad day.”

Have you ever tried to hide (隐藏) your emotions from someone during a conversation? 32
“Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to know other people’s
emotions according to changes in the colour of their faces,” The Guardian reported. They studied
pictures of people’s facial expressions. They found that every facial expression has a different colour
pattern (模式).
For example, happiness makes our faces red around the cheeks and the temples and a little blue
around the chin. 33
“We believe these colour patterns result from small changes in the blood flow (血液流动),”
scientist Aleix Martinez told The Guardian.
But this brings the question: Is it just the colour, or also facial expressions, that help people tell
others’ emotions?
To find this out, scientists added colour patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial
expressions. 34 Those people were able to tell the emotions right 75 percent of the time.
This may explain why there are some Chinese sayings about emotions and the colour of one’s
face. For example, when two people are fighting about something, we say they are mian hong er chi.
35
A.When a person is very angry, we say he or she is lian se fa qing.
B.Hate creates a blue-yellow colour around the lips and a red-green colour around the nose and the
forehead.
C.Lots of people do this so that others can’t tell how they really feel.
D.It’s not always easy because the colours on your face may tell the truth.
E.They asked some people to tell what emotions the faces were showing.
32.D 33.B 34.E 35.A
32.根据“Have you ever tried to hide (隐藏) your emotions from someone during a conversation?”
33.根据“happiness makes our faces red around the cheeks and the temples and a little blue around
34.根据“scientists added colour patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial expressions”可
35.根据“when two people are fighting about something, we say they are mian hong er chi .”
故选A。

I had a dream last night: A lion was running after a sheep. The sheep was afraid and running for
her life while the lion was 46 and focused on his next meal. When I 47 up, I had a
question: Which animal is experiencing stress? The answer is 48 .
Stress is a normal feeling for everyone. It happens when we face 49 , such as a test in
school or an important game. However, do you know that stress can affect our bodies in different
ways? Just like a lion 50 after a sheep, both animals experience stress, but in different ways.
The sheep feels fear while the lion feels focused and driven.
51 humans, we also experience stress in different ways. 52 we meet stressful
situations, our bodies go into “fight or flight (逃跑)” mode (模式), freeing hormones (荷尔蒙) that
make us feel nervous and ready to act 53 .
To control stress, we can change how we think about it. Instead of feeling afraid of it, we can
think of stress as a chance 54 and learn. We can practise keeping open-minded in
unexpected situations. By 55 this, we can deal with difficult situations in a healthy way.

Many social media posts (社交媒体帖子) may let you believe that everyone is happy all the
time, but being happy all the time is not possible. As a teenager, you probably hope to get good grades in an exam or to win the most important
basketball game, but it doesn’t often happen. Good results make you happy and bad results make you
sad. But sadness can drive you to improve yourself next time.
However, when people get into sadness for a long time and it starts to affect (影响) their lives,
it’s called depression (抑郁). You don’t want to get out of bed. You don’t feel like studying or going
out with your friends. I remember the same feeling when my dog Rebel died in an accident. I
remember that he followed me to school. Now he was gone, and I lost all interests to do anything.
My parents told me dogs don’t live forever. What’s more, Rebel had a good life. If I had a good life,
Rebel must be happy, too.
Depression is not a person’s mistake. It’s normal to feel sad sometimes. Many great people,
like the comedy actor Jim Carrey, once got depressed. But you should know what to do to stop
depression or make yourself less depressed.
When you feel down, you must not keep yourself away from the world. Try to share your
feelings with a family member or a good friend. Staying at home by yourself will make you more

Learn to Deal with Negative Emotions
Last month, I failed an important exam. I felt really sad. To deal with the negative emotion, I
talked with my teacher. She gave me some useful advice on study habits. Then, I worked harder so
that I could do better in the next exam.
Learning to deal with negative emotions well is really important. It helps us to solve problems.
By communicating with others, we can get solutions. What’s more, it avoids causing more trouble. If
we keep negative feelings inside, we may feel much worse. Also, it’s helpful to take exercise
regularly, like running in the morning. It helps us to relax and gives us energy.
Let’s learn to manage negative emotions and live a healthier life.
