"I put yellow paint on top of my blue paint—yellow and blue make green!"

This is an example of discovery learning or hands-on learning.

the best way for most people because they try the game and learn the rules as they
play. They learn in a hands-on way.
Hands-on learning is good for children. The learner takes an active part in it
instead of just sitting and listening. This is the way that we want our children to

C(2022·吉林第二实验学校期末改编)
According to a survey, many people think genes(基因) and intelligence(智力)
have something to do with students' success or failure. But there aren't any researches
to support this opinion. And in fact, it is not right at all. There is one thing that can
finally decide students' success or failure. That is how they learn. A few students are
clever and lucky. They find good ways for themselves to study every subject well.
But others aren't so lucky like them. They don't find correct ways of their own and
fail in the end.
To students, what is the best way to learn languages? Dr. Asher found a way
called "Total Physical Response". This was helpful to students. Studies in San Jose
State University showed that if students moved their bodies when learning English,
they were able to learn a lot more new words and grammar in a very short time.
But if they sat still and didn't move, they could learn less. And after a year, the
students who moved their bodies when learning remembered 80% or more things they
learned. But others forgot more than 80%.
Now you may know how to learn English. Keep moving when you learn. So
when you listen to a story or an article, do actions as soon as you hear it. And you
can imagine you are the person in the story or the article. By doing this, you canlearn more and you can remember it longer. The most useful result is that you can
use it more easily. Stop your old method. Try this one at once!
( )11.What can decide the students' success or failure according to Paragraph 1?
A. Genes. B. Intelligence.
C. The ways they learn. D. Their teachers.
( )12.What is the aim of "Total Physical Response"?
A. For schools to develop.
B. For teachers to teach languages.
C. For students to learn languages.
D. For parents to help their children.
( )13.What can you imagine when you listen to a story or an article?
A. I am the writer of the story or article.
B. I am the seller of the story or article.
C. I am a character of the story or article.
D. I am the teller of the story or article.
( )14.What is the best title of the passage?
A. A new way to succeed in the future
B. A new way to do much more exercise
C. A new way to write an article
D. A new way to help people learn well
D
Have you ever heard of "tandem"? The word itself means a bicycle built with
saddles(车座) for two riders who are sitting one behind the other. The same thing is,
when we learn a foreign language, we can find a native speaker who wishes to learn
our languages. So we both get a chance to practice. This is the tandem exchange.
For example, I'm a native English speaker but I want to learn French. So I go
to a tandem meeting. There I can find a native French speaker who wants to
improve his or her English. Then we become tandem partners. I speak English with
my French tandem partner for about an hour and help him or her with some English
problems. After that, we speak French for an hour, too.The idea of this language exchange is great because we can learn something
about a language that we may not learn in class. This is the main reason why we
can choose the tandem exchange as a way to learn a new language.
In the tandem exchange, we can also read passages with our partner. This way
we can not only practice our pronunciation but also understand the meaning of
difficult words in other languages. We can then have conversations about the passages
in order to practice our speaking and listening.
So I advise you to participate in the tandem exchange. If there's no foreigner
around you, online tandem exchange will be a good choice. Join in the tandem
exchange and enjoy the chance of learning new languages and understanding the
cultures of other countries!
