Even today, many years later, I can still clearly remember that special day
when I took part in a piano concert. It was my first time playing the Canon in D
in public.
I was only nine years old and I was not yet quite confident about my piano
skills. Although I had been practising the piece for a long time before the concert,
I still felt shy and was afraid to walk out onto that stage.
My piano teacher tried to comfort me. “Relax,” she said. “You can play very
well. Be free to show your true self to the audiences.” I replied, “But so many
people in the audiences will be looking at me!” My teacher suggested I ignore
them and just focus on my performance.
Soon, it was my turn to perform. I took a few deep breaths before starting to

devote myself to my performance and became lost on the wonderful melodies(旋

performance, the audiences clapped their hands for a long time. At that moment,

In 2021, Liam had just graduated from high school and was looking for a
“crazy adventure”. He had experience in biking long distances. His longest trip

He had a tent, sleeping bag, a phone, a first-aid kit, and some spare parts for

Liam’s parents weren’t too happy about him taking such a long bike trip by
himself. But as he carried on, his parents became his strongest supporters.
After about three months, Liam had crossed the US, going south along the

deserts and mountains.

started. He had travelled through 14 countries along the way.
Liam hopes his experience will encourage others to take up biking or start an

attempt(尝试) something,” he says.

Age is such an influence in everyone’s life which brings lots of other
problems and matters. We often face a lot of difficulty at a young age. There are
some teenage problems can appear at every stage of life and those we cannot
share with anyone except few people. Now, Let’s discuss these teenage problems.
Uncertainty About Future
The most common problem among all the teenagers is to choose a right
career after school. Youngsters often hardly find a right career, so the parents
and the teachers should advise them on the right career field. Parents can also
choose to take their children to experts for suggestions and the counselors (顾问)
will advise them on the field according to their likes.
Social Media
Social media networking is most commonly seen among young people. It is
英语试题 第 10 页 (共 13 页)like an addiction (上瘾) of youngsters to spend long hours on laptops and
smartphones using social media sites. These sites also post some improper
information which do harm to youngsters. The parents should check the
activities of their children on social media sites often and suggest using less.
Academic (学业的) Problems
Many students face problems during schoolwork and exams in schools and
colleges. The parents look after the studies of their children. They should sit
along with them before exams and help them work out their problems. If your
children go to cram class(补习班),then you should contact the teacher and ask
him about the progress of your child in studies.
Eating Disorders (疾病)
The teenagers especially girls care more about their eating habits than guys.
Because of the speedy life, heavy studies and workloads, teenagers like junk
food better which is quick to cook. It causes many health problems such as
constipation, indigestion, food poisoning, and many other diseases. Considering
children’s food habits, parents could write down the names of proper food and
prepare it, which will be of great help to their grown-up children.

五、阅读表达
Many parents care too much about their children. They keep telling their
kids what to do and what not to do. But do we need to follow every word of our
parents? I think the answer is “no”. From my point of view, children should
listen to their parents selectively.
First of all, with the development of technology, our society is changing
quickly. Our parents might not be keeping pace with these changes. Some of
their points may be out of date. As a result, their advice may sometimes be
useless to us or may even be completely wrong. For example, many parents
believe video games are harmful to young people. In fact, some games are
designed to help improve a player’s intelligence. Moreover, people often learn
better from their own mistakes. As teenagers, we always like to try new things,
even though we have been told that some of these new things, in truth, may not
be as nice as they appear to be. Because of this, we might find ourselves having
to deal with a terrible situation. In such case, we will always try to solve
whatever problems that have arisen(出现). Through such experiences, we are
likely to pick up some new skills.
To sum things up, we should take some of our parents’ advice. At the same
英语试题 第 12 页 (共 13 页)time, we are young and curious. We like to figure things out in our own way.
