1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My father’s comb was jade green. I heard he bought it when he married Mum, which made the comb(梳
子)two years older than I was. Every night, he would smile, hand me the comb and say, “Be a good girl and help
Daddy clean it, OK?”
I was more than happy to do it. At age five this mundane task brought me such joy. I would excitedly turn the
tap on, then brush the comb with a used toothbrush as hard as I could. Satisfied that I’d done a good job, I would
proudly return the comb to Dad. He would smile at me and place the comb on top of his wallet.
About two years later, Dad left his sales job and started his own wholesale business. I started primary school.
That was when things started to change. He didn’t come home as much as he used to—just a couple of times a
week. And when he did come home, it was always late and I’d already be in bed. I started to get mad. I stopped
waiting for him to come home, and stopped going downstairs to check on him.
Today, I’m no longer a kid. I’ve graduated from college and got a job. Dad’s business has got back on track.
Things are better now. Yet the uncomfortable silence between Dad and me continued.

My mother was the oldest child in a family of four children. At the age of ten, my mother was charged with all
the household responsibilities while her mother went to work. At a time when most children focused on themselves
and their needs, my mother looked after the other children, cooked, and cleaned. My aunts and uncle remember that
while they were growing up my mother was consistent (始终如一的) and strict with them, with a smile on her face
and a song in her heart.
After working for a couple of years, my mother married my father and started her own family. Her four
children came every two years. In addition to working full-time, she managed to attend each child’s school and
sporting events, and keep us all on the straight and narrow
Having learned about her hard childhood and knowing that my father was really her “fifth and worst” child, I
decided that when l completed graduate school I would take my mother on the first of what would become our
annual (一年一次的) mother-daughter trip. Since l landed a well-paid job, I told her to pick any place she wanted
to go and I would make it happen. She had never been more than fifty miles from our home, so she was very
excited.
For the first three years, we went to Bermuda, Arizona, and Charleston. However, during my fourth year after
graduate school, I opened my own business, and I was very hard up. I didn't want my mother to know, so I didn’t
let on when she said she wanted to go to the Bahamas
I searched for the least expensive way to make this trip happen and ended up with a “package” that included
air tickets, food and hotel stays. Even now, when I think about that trip, I experience some discomfort. The old
airplane was very tiny. We had to share the hotel room with local insects.
After a long flight and a terrible bus ride to our hotel, most passengers were tired and disappointed (失望的).
However, my mother always kept a positive attitude.注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;

3.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
A quite funny thing happened to me last Friday. It was a fine day and I went to London to do some shopping. I
had planned to get some Christmas presents. I also needed to find some books for my course at college as I am a
student of Oxford.
That morning I caught an early train to London, so by early afternoon I could buy something that I wanted.
Anyway, I’m not very fond of London, all the noise and traffic, and I made some arrangements for that evening. I
took a taxi to Waterloo station. I couldn’t really afford a taxi, but I wanted to catch the 3:30 p.m. train.
Unfortunately, the taxi got stuck in a traffic jam, and by the time I got to the Waterloo station the train had just
gone. Disappointedly, I had to wait an hour for the next one. While I was waiting, I bought myself an evening
newspaper, The Standard, and wandered over to the station buffet (自助餐). At that time of the day it was nearly
empty, and I bought a coffee and a packet of biscuits (饼干) — chocolate biscuits. I’m very fond of chocolate
biscuits. I found that there were plenty of empty tables and I sat by one near the window, where I could cozily enjoy
my beverage and biscuits. Then, I began doing the crossword. I always enjoy doing crossword puzzles (填字游戏).
After a couple of minutes a man sat down just opposite me. It seemed that there was nothing special about
him, except that he was very tall. In fact, judging from his clean dark suit and a fine briefcase, he looked pretty likea typical city businessman. I didn’t say anything and I carried on with my crossword.

参考答案
1.【参考范文】
Two days before my birthday last year, Dad came home early. As usual, I helped him carry his bags into his
study. When I turned to leave, he said, “Hey, would you like to help me clean my comb?” I looked at him a while,
then took the comb and headed to the sink. Though I was reluctant to do that and also had some complaints in the
heart, I brushed the comb carefully. After a while, I passed the clean comb back to Dad. He looked at it and smiled.
But this time, I noticed something different when I had a closer look at my father. My dad aged. He had
wrinkles next to his eyes when he smiled. But his smile was still as heartwarming as before and it was the smile of
a father who just wanted a good life for his family. Dad carefully placed his comb on top of his wallet. After so
many years, he still organizes his personal items in the same meticulous way. I guess some things never change.
Father’s love is like a mountain, thick and speechless.

To make matters worse, we had to stand in a long line under the hot sun to get our room key. Since there was
no place to store our bags, we carried our things along with us in the line snaking toward the front desk. Just when I
thought things could not get worse, the late afternoon rains common to the Bahamas blew in. We all got wet and
almost lost our enjoyment in travelling. Finally, I was at the end of my patience.
When I was complaining about the sudden rain, my mother looked at the swimming pool with a bright light in
her eyes. With a quick kiss on my face, my mother walked over to the swimming pool, took off her glasses, and
jumped in fully clothed, shoes and all, shouting “Yahoo!” “This is a great way to cool down!” I thought to myself. I
followed my mum into the swimming pool, but I was smart enough to take off my shoes before I ran over to the
pool and jumped in next to her. Several other people joined us in the pool.

I just took a biscuit myself and went back to my crossword puzzle. When the man took a second biscuit, I didn’t
look up and make a sound. I pretended to be enjoying the crossword puzzle.
After I took the last biscuit and glanced at the man, he was staring at me angrily. I nervously put the biscuit
into my mouth, and decided to leave. I was ready to get up and go when the man suddenly pushed back his chair,
stood up and hurried out of the buffet. I felt very relieved and decided to wait two or three minutes before going
myself. I finished my coffee, folded my newspaper and stood up. And there, on the table, where my eveningnewspaper had been, was my packet of biscuits, without being touched.
