先别急着翻译，找找谓语在哪？

思考题：句中有几组谓语？哪个是主句谓语？when引导的时间状语从句起到什么修饰作用？

五步拆句：从谓语到中文语序

STEP 1｜先数谓语

真正带时态的谓语有三组：found、watched、began。

① found：主句谓语。

② watched：when 时间状语从句中的谓语。

③ began：that 宾语从句主干中的谓语。eating 是现在分词，位于 watch + 宾语 + doing 结构中，不另算谓语；

to like 是 begin 后的不定式结构，也没有时态，不另算一组谓语。

STEP 2｜先抓最外层：The study found that...

最外层结构是：[The study / found / [that ...]]主语 / 谓语 / 宾语从句

that 后面的整段内容都是 found 的宾语，告诉我们“这项研究发现了什么”。

STEP 3｜进入 that 宾语从句，再抓它自己的主干

that 从句内部先把 when... 暂时拿开，

剩下的核心是：they / began / to like broccoli less 

主语 / 谓语 / begin 后的不定式结构

这里 they 指 participants，不是 someone else。

less 修饰动词 like，表示“喜欢得更少 / 不那么喜欢”，不是形容词表语。

STEP 4｜处理 when 从句与 watch sb. doing sth.

when participants watched someone else eating broccoli with a strong dislike → when 引导时间状语从句，修饰 that 从句中的 began to like...，交代“他们什么时候开始不那么喜欢西兰花”。

从句内部：participants / watched / someone else / eating broccoli with a strong dislike

主语 / 谓语 / 宾语 / 宾补部分

watch sb. doing sth. 表示“看到某人正在做某事”。

eating... 是现在分词短语作宾语补足语，补充说明 someone else 当时正在做什么。

STEP 5｜按中文逻辑重新排序

先译最外层：这项研究发现……；

再把 that 从句主干放进去：参与者开始不那么喜欢西兰花；

然后把 when 从句提前：当参与者看到别人……时；

最后处理 eating... 和 with a strong dislike：别人正在吃西兰花，而且表现出强烈的厌恶。

注意：with a strong dislike 在这里表示伴随的态度/方式，也不能把它误接成 participants 的态度。

结构分析：句子分层

[The study] [found [that

第一层：The study + found + that 宾语从句。
第二层：that 从句主干是 they began to like broccoli less。
第三层：when... 是嵌在 that 从句里的时间状语从句；watch 后面再嵌套 someone else + eating...。

语法重点 1｜find + that 宾语从句
The study found that... 中，that 引导宾语从句，整个 that 从句作 found 的宾语，回答“研究发现了什么”。
that 在从句中不充当主语、宾语等句子成分，只起连接作用。
拆长句时先把最外层 that 圈出来，可以迅速确定第一层“主句 + 宾语从句”。
语法重点 2｜when 时间状语从句嵌在宾语从句内部
that 后面不是立刻出现简单主干，而是先出现 when participants watched...。
层级关系是：found [that [when ...], they began to like broccoli less]
因此 when... 不是修饰主句 found，而是修饰宾语从句里的 began to like...，交代“什么时候”改变喜好。
拆句时容易把 that 从句和 when 从句当成同一层；
正确做法是先找各自的谓语，再判断谁包着谁。

语法重点 3｜watch + 宾语 + doing：现在分词作宾补participants watched someone else eating broccoli... 中：

eating broccoli... = 现在分词短语作宾语补足语。

结构：watch sb. doing sth. = “看见某人正在做某事”，强调看到动作正在发生的场景。

本句的 eating 没有时态，因此不能把 eating 圈成独立谓语。

语法重点 4｜begin to do + less

they began to like broccoli less 中，began 才是带时态的谓语；
to like... 是 begin 后的不定式结构，不另算一组谓语。
less 在这里作副词，修饰动词 like，表示“喜欢得更少 / 不那么喜欢”。
语法重点 5｜代词指代 + with a strong dislike
they 回指前面的 participants，而不是离它更近的 someone else。
判断代词不能只看“最近的名词”，还要看句意和从句逻辑：改变喜好的是参与实验的人。
with a strong dislike 是介词短语，表示别人吃西兰花时伴随的强烈厌恶态度。
结合上下文，研究考察的正是他人的负面表情/态度如何影响观看者。
阅读时要把“谁在吃”“谁在看”“谁的喜好发生变化”三个角色分清。
