I had looked forward to it for a long time and had already prepared two of my best songs. My mom had a wonderful idea, however, to turn this disappointing letdown into something worthwhile. “You can perform your songs at Carriage House Senior Living,” my mom suggested brightly. “I’m sure the seniors there who do not have families visit them that often, would really appreciate the music and you could play more than just two songs.” I immediately thought this was a great idea. One of the things I did not like about the recitals was that I was limited to playing just a couple of songs. Playing the piano at Carriage House seemed like a win-win situation because not only would I get to play more songs, but I would also have the chance to cheer up the residents there with some lively tunes. My mom called Carriage House and made arrangements for me to perform. In the coming days, I worked especially hard to polish up fifteen pieces that I thought the crowd would enjoy, including many old classics. When the much-anticipated day finally arrived, my family and I drove to Carriage House. Walking through the enormous double doors, we stepped into an entryway that overlooked the spacious grand dining room. Right at the entrance to the dining room stood the piano as if it were just waiting to make some music to liven the place up a bit. At nearly every table several gray-haired women or men were seated enjoying their dinner and the company that the crowded room provided. Despite the conversations going on at various tables though, isolation hung like a dark cloud in the room. Almost immediately, we were greeted by an old woman with a walker who introduced herself as Phyllis in charge of Carriage House. She welcomed me and led me to the stage. As I sat down on the bench, I pressed a key on the piano and was surprised to hear no sound. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ Nervousness melted away and I started to enjoy the performance with the old. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ 【范文模板】 As I sat down on the bench, I pressed a key on the piano and was surprised to hear no sound. Feeling as if the whole world was watching me, I was struck dead with embarrassment. How could I perform the song without the piano? I was on pins and needles when Phyllis slowly made her way to the front of the crowd of dinners and announced in a comforting tone, “This girl has come to sing for us but the piano seems to be a little nervous.” Almost immediately, there was scattered applause and several people stepped forward to help me plug in the piano and set the microphone. With everything ready, I took a deep breath and commenced my performance. Nervousness melted away and I started to enjoy the performance with the old. One woman got up and began to animatedly dance about the room. Some of the people swayed in their chairs to the beat of the music while others tapped theirs toes. The performance ended up with a storm of applause from the crowd. I realized that it was far better than a piano recital because almost everyone seemed to truly appreciate my music and I’ m proud that I have the power to spread kindness to them. It ended up being a blessing in disguise that the recital was canceled, leading to me sharing the gift of music with those who needed it most. 紧张的:nervous /intense/ be on pins and needles 【高分句型1】 I was on pins and needles when Phyllis slowly made her way to the front of the crowd of dinners and announced in a comforting tone(运用了when引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】 I realized that it was far better than a piano recital because almost everyone seemed to truly appreciate my music. As I stared at the audience, I knew this moment could change my life forever. When judges asked my name and I tried to speak, nothing came out. The crowd fell silent, waiting for the words to come. Finally I stuttered(结巴地说) my name and my age. “As you can tell,” I said, “I have a speech disorder…” I’d love to sing and had already signed up for the school talent show in fourth grade when I started stuttering.Fortunately, most of the kids at my school were kind, and I was rarely made fun of. I tried speech therapy too, but it didn’t help. I feared to sing in the school talent show. Therefore, I decided to practice at home. To my surprise, the words came smoothly when I sang. And then I decided to learn to play the guitar, which was given as a birthday gift by my father. One afternoon, I walked into the basement, where I kept my musical equipment. My eyes lit on the guitar. I picked it up and started playing. I opened my mouth, and the words came flooding out. Then I wrote a song called I Will Trust, telling the pain IP’d experienced. The next day, I filmed a video of performing the song and posted it online. Hundreds of strangers left comments that I had uplifted them with my music. Ever since, I’ve been writing songs. Last year, I started college and majored in music production. When I saw Talent Show audition( 试 唱)announcement pop up on my computer, I wanted to have a try. Several months later, I was standing on that stage, trying to calm my nerves as I introduced myself, “I have a speech impediment.” I said, “It was definitely something that caused me to…” I took a long pause to find the words. “…to hide. But I found that I don’t stutter when I sing.” Then I began to sing a new song I’d just written. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ My performance on Talent Show had a deep influence on me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文模板】 Then I began to sing a new song I’d just written. I tried to focus on the music, instead of the eyes on me. And just as I’d said, there was no stutter at all. When I finished, the whole crowd was on its feet, and so were the judges. I couldn’t hold back my tears when the judges thought highly of my beautiful voice. For my second performance, I sang another original song. I placed fifth in my round of the finals, with which I was really satisfied. My performance on Talent Show had a deep influence on me. Now, I’m more comfortable putting myself out there, taking the risk that I might get denied. I continue to have difficulty speaking, yet I’m able to speak fluently through my music. I still find myself worrying about the future I can’t control, but I know that I can go as far as possible. I really feel grateful for the hard times I’ve been through and the struggles I’ve endured, which are what make me who I am. 2. 续写线索:说话——流泪——满意——继续前进——感谢——感悟 【高分词汇】 行为类 ①忍不住流泪:not hold back tears/burst into tears ②前进:go as far as possible/go on/move on 情绪类 ①满意的:satisfied/pleased ②感谢:feel grateful/appreciate it 【高分句型1】 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】And just as I’d said, there was no stutter at all. However, the last lesson was a disaster. Chitose and her grandpa had a huge fight. She arrived at the studio smiling and said, “Look Grandpa, I painted this portrait of you.” The man in the portrait had a lot of hair, stood straight, looked young, and smiled. Chitose might be talented enough to attend an art college in France, but she has a big weakness as an artist. When she paints a person, too often she paints an idealized image rather than the real person. Grandpa had been explaining this point to her for several months, but she just wouldn’t listen. Grandpa got a little angry and said to her, “This is not me, and you are not a real artist.” She got angry too and said she didn’t care because she didn’t need him as a teacher anymore. Grandpa then showed her the portrait he had painted as her farewell gift and said, “This is the real you!” She took one look at it and said, “No, it isn’t!” and then left. Grandpa gave the portrait of Chitose to her parents. He had done the portrait a couple of months before Chitose started changing her style, and he thinks it shows the high school student he taught for two years. When Grandpa painted it, she still had her natural curly hair. She was not wearing all the accessories (配饰) she has now, including the ring shaped earrings she loves. She also never wore makeup then. This was a Chitose with a fantastic future who knew she was still an amateur artist. But now she is getting older and wants to act and look more like an adult. However, she will never become a great artist if she stops learning. Chitose’s mom secretly put the portrait into one of Chitose’s suitcases when she left home for France. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________ Chitose painted a portrait of her grandpa and herself. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________ 【范文模板】 Chitose’s mom secretly put the portrait into one of Chitose’s suitcases when she left home for France. When she discovered it, she saw a Chitose who was willing to listen in order to improve her art. She realized that the Chitose she’d become was different. She wanted to prove to everyone that she was an adult and had stopped listening to others. After realizing her weakness, She started learning again and her art got much better. Chitose painted a portrait of her grandpa and herself. The portrait won first prize in a young artists competition. She painted herself like her grandpa did, as Chitose the high school student with a lot of potential. She also painted her grandpa as she really sees him. The wrinkles are proof of his wisdom. The stick shows he will overcome his physical challenges. His bent back shows that he has poured all his strength into what he loves the most: his art and his granddaughter. 2.续写线索:看到肖像画——意识到弱点——继续学习——画肖像画——获奖——真实的人物形象 【高分词汇】 行为类 ①提高:improve/enhance ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③表明:show/make it clear 情绪类 ①倾听:listen/lend an ear ②最爱的:love the most/favorite 【高分句型1】 When she discovered it, she saw a Chitose who was willing to listen in order to improve her art.(由when引导时 间状语从句和who引导限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】 His bent back shows that he has poured all his strength into what he loves the most: his art and his granddaughter. One day, we were told to perform for a charity event at a large rehabilitation (康复) hospital. It wouldn’t pay much, but it was our first real job. For two weeks we practised hard, getting together every day after school to sharpen our skills and learn enough songs to fill a one-hour show. Finally came the big day. We showed up early to check out the stage, then the hospital’s entertainment director came over to us. “OK, boys, I just want to share some details with you,” she said. “A lot of the people in the audience are suffering from severe physical or mental disabilities. Many of them are old, in their sixties and seventies. These patients have very few chances to see live entertainment, so they enjoy any kind of musical talent that we can bring in. Just play your regular show.” With that, she left, going into the auditorium (礼堂) to assist the patients to their seats. Soon it was show time. As we picked up our instruments, we got our first real look at the audience. The auditorium was full. The majority of the people watching us had either been seriously injured in accidents or born with major birth defects (缺陷). Some were talking quietly, but most were just sitting there. The quiet was disturbing, as we were used to energetic audiences. Tommy, the lead singer, signaled us to start the first song. Everything was perfect, and we played probably the best show of our lives. We hardly missed a note on any of our songs, even the ones that we’d only recently learned. My guitar solos seemed to flow effortlessly out of my fingers, and I felt surrounded by a wall of music. However, we couldn’t enjoy our performance. As each song finished, we didn’t receive thundering applause. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ What happened next shocked me more than anything. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ 【范文模板】 As each song finished, we didn’t receive thundering applause. Finally the show was over, but we got nothing. Backstage the director told us, “When you’re done packing up, please come back to the auditorium.” What happened next shocked me more than anything. The audience had gathered by the stage. They told us that we were the best band that had played for them in years. We couldn’t believe it. The director had been right: they loved us! We ended up staying there for over an hour, telling them about ourselves and talking about music. Later, I played some big shows with different bands. But no matter how much the audience cheered, I never felt as good as I did that one special night. 1】 Backstage the director told us, “When you’re done packing up, please come back to the auditorium.”(由when引 导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】 They told us that we were the best band that had played for them in years.(用that引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型3】 But no matter how much the audience cheered, I never felt as good as I did that one special night.(no matter how 引导的让步状语从句) 5.(2023·山西太原·高三统考期末) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 The sound coming from Alper’s room was absolutely awful... His mum opened the door. 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】“Son, I’ve got a headache. Can you give it a rest?” “But I’m practicing the guitar.” “Practicing? Sometimes you hit the strings and sometimes you slap the guitar... And your mouth is open all the time. And you keep shouting. That’s not singing! We send you to a guitar course but it’s a waste of time and money! Didn’t they give you songs you’re supposed to practice with? You should learn how to play these first until you get them right.” “Oh, I do play those songs sometimes. They’re really boring though. Anyway, it hurts my fingers when I play the strings according to the rules they teach us at the course. I play with my heart. Not according to rules...It’s a lot more fun that way.” “Well, I hope your dad doesn’t hear that after spending all this money. It’s disturbing the neighbours. Last night, Mr. Arif from upstairs was driven mad. He said that your singing sounded as if you had fallen into a pot of boiling water!” His mum’s words really depressed him. At first he thought that he only needed to touch the guitar and beautiful music would just come out on its own. But instead it was only practice, practice, practice. He couldn’t stand this.... He wanted to learn how to play his own music! He spent days and days writing lyrics... The light in the air... cats... birds... sweet breezes... Alper wrote about everything! But...Alper had no music for his words. He couldn’t write music. He didn’t know any notes at all. Most families were doing the best but they could just put a few groceries on the table. Halloween was approaching, and many of the families didn’t participate because they lacked costumes and couldn’t afford to give out candy themselves. So Kate called the headmaster of the elementary school. She was told the families wanted their kids to have fun on Halloween, but they also needed more books in the home. So Kate went to work. She began with the Brain Club and then branched out to other clubs. They would sponsor a trick-or-treat event featuring games, candy and book giveaways. It was a huge organizational challenge— one that only a very organized person could handle. So Kate put her smarts to use. She arranged for groups of her fellows to decorate their cars and create games. She found a DJ and rounded up boxes of costumes for the kids. She even got the local police to decorate their cruiser (巡逻车). And she went to work getting kids books donated. At dusk on Halloween, the cars arrived in the parking lot. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ The headmaster said this was the happiest time for the kids. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ 【范文模板】 At dusk on Halloween, the cars arrived in the parking lot. A course was laid out, beginning with choosing a costume, then on to collect candy, play games and dance with high school students who also wore costumes. The little ones from the elementary school were delighted. They’d never had such a great party. They were singing and dancing happily. And at the end of it, all they signed up for the book club: read a book and then exchange it for another. The headmaster said this was the happiest time for the kids. Parents were also excited. They showed gratitude to Kate and her fellows, with shining tears in their eyes. As for Kate, she took careful notes on how happiness affects people’s attitude toward life and learning. She also got a lot of hugs from little princesses and superheroes. Through this event, she taught us a lesson: when you take the time, you can make somebody’s world better. 穿戏服:wear costumes /be (dressed) in costumes ②. 以……开始:begin with / kick off with ③. 报名参加:sign up for/ register for 情绪类 ①. 高兴的:delighted / cheerful ②.表达感激:show gratitude to / convey appreciation to 【高分句型1】 A course was laid out, beginning with choosing a costume, then on to collect candy, play games and dance with high school students who also wore costumes.(运用了现在分词短语作状语,关系代词who引导的限制性定 语从句) 【高分句型2】 As for Kate, she took careful notes on how happiness affects people’s attitude toward life and learning.(运用了 how引导的宾语从句) 7.(2023·河北·校联考模拟预测) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 The Christmas I will never forget happened when I was 9. I believed in Santa with all my heart. How could I not when I received everything I wished for. December 1st. Mom would announce, “It’s time.” Hearing those words, we all knew it was time to write our letters to Santa. One day I asked mom why we always wrote our letters on December 1st. She said because so many kids were writing letters to Santa, he needed time to read them and make all the toys the kids wanted. Once our letters were finished, mom would put them in her purse and mail them the next day. Christmas Eve finally arrived. We were all so excited. We did our Christmas Eve traditions. Daddy read us The Night Before Christmas’ story. Then it was time for sleep. I had such a good feeling about Christmas this year. It was difficult to fall asleep. But sleep finally came and so did Christmas morning. I woke up hearing my brothers yelling. Jimmy came running and jumping on my bed. “Santa’s been here, sister! Let’s open presents!” We ran down the stairs. Our eyes were glowing like wildfire as we eyed over the presents under the tree. My brothers and I quickly snuggled (依偎) among the packages. We all watched as each person unwrapped a gift. I kept watching as my brothers unwrapped gifts. My dad didn’t hand me any package. “This year you are going to be 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】the last to get your presents because you are the oldest.” he declared. I didn’t think anything of it, so I whispered “OK.” One by one all of the packages had been opened. There was none left. I couldn’t understand. I had been so good this year. After all, it was Mother's Day—and 800 miles separated her from her parents in Ohio. She had called her mother that morning to wish her a happy Mother's Day, and her mother had mentioned how colorful the yard was now that spring had arrived. As they talked, the younger woman could almost smell the tantalizing aroma of purple lilacs (紫丁香) hanging on the big bush outside her parents' back door. Later, when she mentioned to her husband how she missed those lilacs, he popped up from his chair. “I know where we can find you all you want,” he said. “Get the kids and come on.” So off they went, driving on the country roads of northern Rhode Island. Eventually, he stopped the car. “Come with me,” he said. “Over that hill is an old cellar hole, and there are lilacs all around it. Go pick a few.” There, on the top of the hill, were the towering lilacs bushes. While the man examined the cellar hole and tried to explain to the children what the house must have looked like, the woman had been cheered up, drifting among the lilacs. Carefully, she picked some out. She was in no hurry, admiring each blossom as a rare and delicate treasure. Finally, though, they returned to their car for the trip home. When they were almost home, she suddenly shouted to her husband: “Stop the car. Stop right here!” In a second, the woman was out of the car and hurrying up a nearby grassy slope with the lilacs still in her arms. At the top of the hill was a nursing home and, because it was such a beautiful spring day, the patients were outdoors, walking with relatives or sitting on the porch (走廊). Paragraph 1: The young woman went to the end of the porch, where an elderly patient was sitting in her wheelchair, alone. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Curiosity was aroused among the kids and the husband. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 【范文模板】 The young woman went to the end of the porch, where an elderly patient was sitting in her wheelchair, alone. Across the porch railing went the flowers, into the lap of the old woman. She lifted her head, and smiled. For a few moments, the two women chatted, both faces brightening up, and then the young woman turned and ran back to her family. As the car pulled away, the woman in the wheelchair waved, holding the lilacs tightly. Curiosity was aroused among the kids and the husband. "Mom, "the kids asked, "who was that? Why did you give her our flowers?" Mother explained that she didn't know the old woman. But it was Mother's Day, and she seemed so alone, and who wouldn't be cheered by flowers? "Besides, "she added, "I have all of you, and I still have my mother, even if she is far away. That woman needed those flowers more than I did." This satisfied the kids, but not the husband, who was plotting a plan to plant some lilacs around their own yard for another beautiful spring. 【高分词汇】 brighten up v. 1】 The young woman went to the end of the porch, where an elderly patient was sitting in her wheelchair, alone. 2】 This satisfied the kids, but not the husband, who was plotting a plan to plant some lilacs around their own yard for another beautiful spring. It was now December twenty-fourth. So here we were, travelling about 2,000 miles and finally reaching our destination San Diego at last. We’d rented a room in a small, well-worn motel (汽车旅馆) near the beach. Six-year-old Chat frowned. “There is no Christmas tree, Mommy! But it’s almost Christmas. How can Santa know where to put our presents without a Christmas tree?” “Yes, a Christmas tree!” echoed (附和) his four-year-old brother Jay. “I want a Christmas tree!” ”Couldn’t we just get a small Christmas tree and set it up in this room somewhere?“ asked Chat. ”That way, Santa Claus will know where to put our presents.” I sighed, looking around at our squeezed-in beds and bags. “But, honey, the five of us can barely move around in here with all our suitcases and everything. I’m sorry, but we just don’t have the room for something extra like a Christmas tree.” Our oldest son, seven-year-old Robin, had been listening quietly. Suddenly, he grinned (咧嘴笑). “Yes, we do.” I stared. “Where?” He pointed to our motel room’s door. “Right there—on the back of that door. Please, Mommy, if we can’t get a real tree, can’t we make a pretend tree and put it up there? Then Santa will know we love Christmas just as much as he does.” “And leave us some presents, too!” Chat added. Make a tree? I looked at the newspaper that I had bought when I was searching for places to rent. If I taped some of those pages together, cut them out into a tree shape, and bought some poster paint and brushes at the store next door… Now, I was grinning, too. “Okay, boys! Our boys folded their hands and began to pray. “Time for bed!” urged my husband, promising that Santa would definitely bring some presents to those who behaved well. Not until all of them fell asleep did we quietly take Christmas gifts from our suitcases, put them into the socks and placed the socks under the tree. Without dazzling lights and coulorful lights, it may not be the biggest or shiniest Christmas tree, but the primitive tree was the most special one to us. The next morning, I heard, “Mommy! Daddy! Look! Santa did find us after all!” “Yeah, And Santa left us presents!” Then I found the three boys running to the Christmas tree eagerly and unbelievably, checking the presents in the socks. Considering our financial situation, what we could prepare for them were ordinary but practical. Exposed to the love of our family, I knew that this Christmas would be one that we would never forget. It wasn’t about the size of the tree or the price of the gifts, but the love and joy that we all shared together that made it truly special. 表现好:behave well / conduct oneself well ②. 急切地:eagerly / with eagerness ②. 1】 “Time for bed!” urged my husband, promising that Santa would definitely bring some presents to those who behaved well.(现在分词作状语,由连接词that引导的宾语从句作promising的宾语,由关系动词who引导 的限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】 Exposed to the love of our family, I knew that this Christmas would be one that we would never forget.(过去分词 作状语,连接词that引导的宾语从句作knew的宾语,由关系代词that引导的非限制性定语从句) 10.(2023·湖北·统考二模) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Twelve Days of Kindness Although it was less than two weeks before Christmas, I found it difficult to be in a festive mood. We had moved to Canada, and holidays were difficult for us because we missed our friends and relatives in Minnesota. Our family was also going through a very difficult year, with health problems and a serious work-related problem for my husband. “Mom, How I wish we could spend Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma in Minnesota. I really miss them and my friends there.” said my fifteen-year-old daughter, Rachel. “I know, Rachel. So would I,” I said. “But Minnesota is 2,000 kilometers away. Don’t you remember how hard it was to drive in that snowstorm last year? And then the temperature dropped to-30℃ on our way back?” “I remember,” she said and ducked her head disappointedly. We thought driving to Minnesota for Christmas was too risky and buying airline tickets for three people was out of the question. We would be spending Christmas alone in Canada, and had no money for a Christmas tree or a Christmas dinner. We were surprised when the doorbell rang. It was dark and cold outside, and we weren’t expecting anyone. Hesitantly, Rachel stood up and went forward to open the door, and then said, “Mom, there’s a big box on the doorstep and nobody is out here!” My husband also went and looked. But there was nobody insight. They brought the box in. We were surprised to find that the box contained many packages covered in bright Christmas paper. Each had a typewritten note: Open Dec.14, Open Dec.15...There were a total of twelve—the “Twelve Days of Christmas.” The note read: Our LOVE is given anonymously(匿名地), so enjoy fun with your family, but don’t tell anyone please. Paragraph 1: After that, we opened one more gift each day. 资料整理【淘宝店铺:向阳百分百】____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: We opened the 12th package on December 25th. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ After that, we opened one more gift each day. Before uncovering the box, we would sit around the table expectantly and made wild guesses at what each package contained. Then came the exciting moment when the mystery would be solved. Everybody would roar with laughter. As each package was unwrapped, we realized it was an unknown Canadian friend who was thinking of us, loving us, and wishing us a wonderful Christmas. Amazement never ceased and the gift opening eventually became a part of our daily routine. We all looked forward to the arrival of Christmas. We opened the 12th package on December 25th. We couldn’t contain our excitement, anxious to witness the final surprise. Inside the box was a note which read: “A Christmas tree and a Christmas dinner are awaiting you on the doorstep. Merry Christmas!” Rachel sprang to the handle and swiftly pulled the door open. At the sight of the pleasant surprise, Rachel jumped with joy and screamed with excitement. Tears misted my eyes and we were so thankful to be loved!
