(一)描述不同文化的问候方式
In + 国家 / 地区,people usually + 问候动作(e.g., bow/shake hands/kiss cheeks)
to greet others. In + 另一国家 / 地区,however, people + 不同问候动作.
例:In Japan, people usually bow to greet teachers. In the US, however, people shake
hands or say “hello” .
In France, people kiss friends on the cheek; in Korea, however, people usually bow.
(二)用 so...that/unless/as soon as 引导从句
so...that(结果状语从句):** sth. is so + 形容词(e.g., formal/confusing/polite)
that + 结果(e.g., people don’t do it/people feel confused/it helps).**
例:Bowing is so formal that Americans only do it at special times.
English table manners are so confusing that Hongli felt worried.

know the person well/the host asks you).
例:Don’t bring food to a UK dinner unless the host asks you.

as soon as(时间状语从句):People + 动作(e.g., bow/greet/say thanks)as soon as
+ 时间点(e.g., they meet/they arrive/they receive gifts).
例:In Japan, people bow as soon as they meet a teacher.
Say “merci” as soon as you receive a gift in France.
(三)提供跨文化交流建议
When visiting + 国家 / 地 区 ,you should + 建议( e.g., bring small
gifts/dress nicely/use local language ). You shouldn’t + 禁忌( e.g., arrive
early/ask personal questions/use left hand ) because + 原 因 ( e.g., it’s
embarrassing/it’s rude/it’s impolite).
例:When visiting India, you should use your right hand to eat. You shouldn’t use your
left hand because it’s impolite.
When visiting France, you should arrive on time. You shouldn’t arrive early because
the host may not be ready.
(四)对比文化差异
There are differences between + 文化 A and + 文化 B. For example, in + 文化 A,
people + 行为 A; in + 文化 B, people + 行为 B. However, both cultures + 共同之
处(e.g., value respect/polite greetings).
例:There are differences between Chinese and UK table manners. For example, in China,
we use chopsticks; in the UK, people use a knife and fork. However, both cultures think
it’s impolite to talk with your mouth full.
There are differences between French and Korean greetings. In France, people kiss cheeks;
in Korea, people bow. However, both cultures value friendly communication.
