(1) It was the day of the big cross-country run. Students from seven different primary
schools in and around the small town .. .
(2 ) He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today.(他比同龄人
(3 ) After making sure that David could run if he wanted, ... his small body rocking from side
to side as he swung his feet forward.
(4 ) He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. David had
not missed a single practice , and although he always finished his run long after the other
children, he did always finish.(这是大卫最令人敬佩的品质。
(5 ) ... was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong
第一点:位于续写第一段段首, 流畅衔接前面的记叙文和第一段段首语;
第二点:位于续写第一段段尾, 流畅衔接第二段段首语;
第三点:位于续写第二段段首,续写衔接第二段段首语;

Jay, 24, got home from work shortly after midnight. Then, suddenly, a horror-filled scream
ripped through the still night. He rushed outside and saw flames lighting the sky half a mile away.
Hurriedly, he called the fire department and rushed out to check the situation.
Seconds later, Jay was fishtailing his car on the main road. The fire raged at a small hillside
complex of mobile homes. Jay slid the car to a stop and sprinted up a steep lane toward the
reddening glow. Reaching the hilltop, he saw that a 70-foot-long trailer (房车) was on fire. A
young woman in torn nightclothes was running wildly back and forth, jumping to smash at the 6-
foot-high windows with her hands. “Dear God!” she screamed. “My family is dying!”
Jay felt a moment of panic. He seemed to be the only person there to help. Never had he
seen such a fire! Flames were leaping out of broken windows at the far end of the trailer and
winding along the roof; the roaring, crackling noises grew louder by the second. He grabbed the
woman by the shoulders. “What happened?” he shouted.
Barely coherent, Cindy told him she had escaped through one of the master bedroom
windows. Her husband, Leonard, had gone for their two children: 22-month-old Ryan and 6-
week-old Angela. He was supposed to hand them out to her from the bedroom. But, seconds
later, flames had burst from the kitchen and living room windows. Cindy began crying miserably.
“Where are they?” Jay yelled. Cindy pointed to the end section of the trailer, where thick, blacksmoke poured from the windows.
From the time he was old enough to play sports, Jay had learned to battle the odds. As a
Little Leaguer, he led his underdog team to the state championship. And in tiny St. Maries, his
courage had earned him townspeople’s respect. Always, Jay recalled the words of his father: “The
word can’t never did anything for anybody. You can do it! Never stop trying, son!”

Para. 1 Jay’s father’s words echoed in his mind. “I’m not coming out without them!” After
a quick assessment, Jay identified a potential entrance. Determined and focused, he arched his
body, leaping through a shattered bedroom window. Despite the engulfing darkness and choking
smoke, Jay fumbled, yelled and finally located the two babies by tracing their faint cries. Quickly,
he swept them up and passed them outside to Cindy. Suffocated as he was, he summoned thelast bit of his strength, and reached for the father, who was lying unconscious on the floor. Just at
this critical moment, additional help began to arrive. Together with the firefighters, Jay
successfully pulled the man to safety.
Para. 2 As her husband was placed in the ambulance to be driven to the hospital, Cindy
walked over to Jay. Overwhelmed with exhaustion, Jay collapsed to the ground, his face smeared
with dirt and blood. Despite great pain and fatigue, he managed a faint smile as Cindy embraced
him, pouring her heartfelt thanks through tear-brimmed eyes. Together, they were swiftly rushed
to the hospital for a comprehensive medical check. Fortunately, everyone was safe. News of Jay’s
heroic actions went viral, earning him the title of ultimate hero in the local newspaper. Faced
with flooding praise, Jay remained humble, crediting his actions to the values instilled by his
father—a belief that as long as he persevered, he could overcome any adversity.

My childhood is magical and full of adventure. I have so many childhood memories, and I
would like to share one that still stimulates me. This unforgettable childhood event was about the
first day when I learned how to swim. It happened so unexpectedly and quickly that not only I but
my parents were surprised. Of course, we were proud as well. I was barely seven years old back
then, and my parents thought that it was time for me to learn how to swim. One summer
morning, they took me to a swimming pool in the City Swimming Complex which was just a 35-
minute drive from our house. It was a weekend and both my parents accompanied me. After we
reached the Swimming Complex, we found many people were learning how to swim. My mother
said she would watch me learn this important skill with the help of my father. Then she cheered
me on and took a seat.
I had no idea how to swim but I was excited to try this new adventure. However, when my
father got into the swimming pool with me, I became a bit nervous. It seemed that things were
not quite as easy for me.
Looking around, I noticed that many other children of all ages were also trying to grasp this
skill and some of them had pretty much learned the art and science of this skill. Influenced by
others, I was determined to focus on my training and swim as well as them. Under the guidance
of my father, I learned with all my effort and devotion, and I made rapid progress. After teaching
me for 30 minutes or so, my father went to buy some snacks for us and my mother came to talk
to me for a while near the pool. She asked me if I had learned anything at all. To prove my
progress, I jumped into the water and started swimming.

My mother was frightened by my action at first. Never did she think I would jump into
the water without my father accompanying me. Scared and terrified, she almost let out a cry for
help. But what surprised her most was that I was actually swimming without struggle. In no
time, her panic gave way to excitement. Meanwhile, she cheered me on, stimulating me to swim
with pride. I was swimming confidently when my father came back. Seeing me swimming on my
own, he was astonished as well. However, he said nothing, signing me to enjoy snacks.
Eating the snacks bought by my father, we were all thrilled and excited. My mother
seemed to have forgotten her terror just now. My father was satisfied with my progress, but still
wished I hadn’t taken risks. After all, safety matters a lot. Nodding my head, I promised not to
take risks any more. A little adventurous as it was, this was the first time that I had realized my
achievements could make my parents so happy and proud, which also boosted my confidence. It
was this childhood adventure that made me understand nothing is impossible with all your
efforts and devotion.

She was the prettiest puppy we had ever seen, and the whole family immediately fell in
love with her. We named her Onyx because of her black, shiny black coat. She spent her first
vacation with us when she was only ten weeks old and had her first bath and swim in the St.
Lawrence River. We had no clue that this amazing little ball of fur would end up being our hero.
As she grew older, Onyx became more and more involved in our family activities. On
hot summer days, Onyx enjoyed floating on the river with us in her own rubber tube (橡皮圈).
Amazingly standing on the top of the tube, she smiled while showing off her perfect balance.
Resting her front legs and paws over the edge of the rubber tube, she kept her eyes shut as she
floated until she’d had enough of the warm sun on her black coat. One day, our eighteen-year-old daughter, Margie, announced she was going to swim across
the bay. No one in the family was free to go swimming with her. The unwritten rules, regardless
of swimming ability, was to have a companion in the water with you, especially when swimming
the width of the bay. I was not a good swimmer, so I said to Margie, “Take Onyx with you.” Having
heard her name, Onyx woke up from a nap and was ready for action. Margie signed the dog to
follow her. Onyx ran to the water next to her. They entered the freezing river together and swam
side by side across the bay.
I watched from the bank as they reached the sandbar (沙洲) on the far shore. They rested
a few minutes before diving into the water for the return trip. I felt uneasy for some reason and
continued to watch the pair swim side by side.

Suddenly I heard Margie calling out, “I have a cram ( 痉李 ) in the leg! ” Seized with
panic, Margie rubbed her leg hard to relax the muscle but in vain. Seeing her struggling in the
water, Onyx immediately swam to the side of Margie and then put her head beneath the girl’s
right arm. I yelled for help for fear that they might freeze in the chilly river. But much to my joy,
with Margie tightly grabbing Onyx’s collar, our little furry friend began digging deep, slicingthrough the water with her paws and swimming fast towards the bank with every ounce of
strength.
Seeing the pair approaching the riverbank, I breathed a sigh of relief. When they finally
got to the shore, I reached out to help Margie, pulling her up onto the riverbank and wrapping
her in a large towel. Exhausted but excited, Onyx eagerly ran to Margie and gently licked her face
to make sure she was Okay, Everyone in the family was grateful for their safe return and Onyx
was given an extra treat later in the afternoon for her quick and brave reaction. She became our
hero that day and she never ceased to amaze us in the days that followed.

“I’ll bet Anjali knows. Right, Anjali? Why don’t you show us since you’re the star student,”
Deepak taunted (奚落).
Anjali was confused. She wasn’t trying to show off. She was just playing tabla
鼓), like everyone else. And why was Deepak being so mean lately? Is it because tabla is a boy’s
thing? She didn’t care that people thought it was a boys’ instrument. Anjali knew there was no
such thing. She danced her fingers across the tabla to perform the composition in confusion.
“Ugh!” Anjali heard someone groan, and she stopped playing.
“I guess I don’t know it that well after all,” Anjali said sheepishly to the teacher, Mr. Zakir.
Her stomach was doing flip-flops. That wasn’t true. Not even a little. Mr. Zakir’s eyes narrowed.
He looked like he was about to say something, but changed his mind. “The recital (演奏会) is
next week, everyone. Keep practicing. I will be announcing who will get to perform onstage with
me at my next concert!” Anjali had dreamed of a moment like that. She wanted to win the
opportunity, but she needed to sort things straight with Deepak first.
As the class was dismissed, Anjali hurried over to Deepak. When she finally made eye
contact with him, he purposely looked away and walked off. The next day at school, Anjali
overheard Deepak whispering to Mary. “People are only interested because she’s the only girl in
tabla class and they want her to feel special. She’s not that good—” Anjali was furious. She
excused herself and went to the bathroom. She took some deep breaths but couldn’t relax. Her
heart was pounding:
“It’s not my fault that people make a big deal about a girl playing tabla. I make mistakes
too, but I work really hard. Maybe he should too. He should be less mean and practice more.”
“If I play in this concert, no one will talk to me again. He will turn everyone against me.”
“I don’t want to see a tabla or hear a tabla or play a tabla EVER AGAIN!!” Anjali yelled at
the mirror. It was quiet for a moment. She believed it was one of her darkest days ever.

One Possible Version
Paragraph 1:
Stepping out of the bathroom, Anjali saw some inspiring posters on the wall. One of them
illustrated with several instruments and a quote “Never dim your light.” For that very moment,
Anjali thought about how she was mesmerized the first time she saw someone playing tabla, by
the beautiful sounds he was creating with his hands. She knew that tabla was meant for her.
When the day of the recital finally arrived, Anjali was determined to do her very best, regardless
of the outcome. She was not going to let anyone make her feel bad, whether it was for being
good at something or for being a girl. And as expected, she delivered a flawless performance.
Paragraph 2:
After the recital, Deepak walked up to Anjali. “Very impressive.” He remarked awkwardly
that he was just jealous because tabla should be a boy’s instrument. Anjali shrugged, “You know
there is no such thing.” As Anjali took one last look at the stage, she felt such a relief. Under the
spotlight was the set of tabla, glittering on the stage just as she did a few minutes earlier. Among
countless compliments and congratulations from the audience, Anjali heard a little sweetvoice, “Bravo, Anjali!!” She turned to find a little girl looking up at her. “I didn’t know girls could
play tabla,” she said. “Girls can do everything boys do,” Anjali beamed, “Never dim your light”.

It is a hot sunny Saturday morning on the farm. Maya, Duksie and Doobie are helpingMama K in her vegetable garden. The children work all morning.
Mama K always gives the children a treat for helping her. Sometimes it’s cake or chocolate;
sometimes it’s apples, pears or oranges. Mama K has only one rule. “Share it fair!” The children
know they must share the treats equally, so they all get the same amount.
Today Mama K has baked a round strawberry cake with pink icing (糖霜) and berries from

Maya has the first turn to share the cake. She uses the knife to draw lines in the icing. The
others watch her. She does not cut the cake yet. The others must first agree if her way is fair. “I
think I will make two cuts down like this. Now we have three slices, all the same!” Maya shows
them. There is one line on the left and the other on the right.
“No way!” says Duksie. “The one in the middle is much too big!” Doobie also shakes his

“Pass me the knife.I’ll do it,” says Duksie First she rubs out Maya’s pattern in the icing, and

equal parts. Just as the children celebrate their cake-cutting victory, Mama K emerges from her
house, bearing a tray with three glasses of strawberry juice. Maya excitedly points out Doobie’s
achievement, proudly claiming his mastery of fair sharing Mama K’s eyes shine with delight as she
commends the children for their fairness and praises Doobie for his exceptional problem-solving
skills.
With Mama K’s encouragement, Maya takes charge, expertly cutting along Doobie’s lines
to make three equal slices. Each piece falls into place, their sizes perfectly matched. In a playful
display of satisfaction, the children put the slices upon one another, witnessing the unity of their
equal proportions. The sight brings smiles of joy to their faces. Amidst the children’s laughter,
Doobie’s dad pulls up to pick up the children, and Doobie runs off to meet him. He can’t wait totell his dad how the badge on the truck has helped him to solve a very tricky problem!

July 1971, I was taking a summer class in Black-American literature on the campus of SUNY
Oneonta in northern New York. Professor James walked into the classroom and announced that
he had invited a special guest to class, but his guest was delayed. The class stirred with curiosity
and anticipation.
“Who’s coming?” someone asked.
“All I will tell you is that he is the author of one of the books you have read for this class,”he said. “I need a volunteer to meet him in the hall of the administration building and take him
here.”
To my amazement, my right hand shot up as though it had a mind of its own. “What am I
doing?” I thought. I never volunteered for anything. I was shy and uncomfortable meeting new
people. In fact, I was absolutely the wrong person for this job. Realizing my mistake, I pulled my
hand down quickly, but it was too late.
“Thank you, David,” Professor James said. “You’d better leave now. He’ll be arriving any
minute.”
Seeing no way to back out, I reluctantly got out of my seat and headed for the classroom
door. When I reached it, I stopped.
“Umm,” I said. “If I don’t know who this person is, how will I recognize him? I’d hate to
bring back the wrong guy.”
Professor James laughed. “Good point,” he said. He pulled me aside and whispered a name
in my ear. “Alex Haley,” he said.
“Really?” I said. I gave a thumbs-up to the class and left the room.
As I entered the empty hallway, I criticized myself for volunteering. “Why didn’t you let
someone else do this?” Alex Haley was the author of The Autobiography (自传) of Malcolm X. He
was also famous for his diligence, perseverance and in-depth thinking.
As I walked across the campus, my anxiety grew. I feared that I was about to embarrass
myself in front of this famous gentleman by asking stupid questions, or worse, accompanying him
in painful silence. I reached the front steps and climbed them slowly.

As I pulled open the heavy glass door, I realized why I raised my hand to volunteer for
this job. This man was what I want to be: a writer. He was living my dream. I could learn from
him. I paced back and forth across the polished hall floor until a black man with a briefcase
entered the building. He stopped and scanned the hall. His gaze fell on me. “Mr. Haley?” I said.
“Yes,” he said. “I’m from Professor James’ class. Welcome,” I said. “Thank you,” he said. He
extended his hand, and we shook. As we crossed the campus, I was struck by how approachable
this man was. My fear was replaced by curiosity and purpose.
“I’d like to become a writer, but I don’t know if I have the talent,” I said. Mr. Haley laughed
and said, “If you want to become a writer, don’t worry about whether you have some magic al
gift. Just keep writing, and don’t give up until you succeed.” After my conversation with Alex
Haley, I no longer obsessed over the “gift”. Instead, I started writing every day. Within two years, I
published three stories in national children’s magazines. Had I not volunteered to meet this
extraordinary man, I would never have received the benefit of his wise advice and the rewards
that followed.

Ten miles away stood a house with shiny red walls, a green garden and an apple tree. A
young girl’s face would be seen reflecting from one of the large glassy windows. Her name is
Maggie. Her eyes were sparkling and on her face there was a smile which could light a million
candles. She seemed to be longing for a chance to play like a young child, but she had no strength
in her legs because she and her family met with an accident, in which she lost both her legs.
But her spirit was strong. She would be inspired by seeing birds fly. The flying eagle would
make her want to fly. She was lonely. She longed for a true friend who would talk to her and
teach her to fly or at least tell her stories about soaring into the blue sky.
One evening, Maggie slowly rolled her wheelchair to the giant window and looked out to
the many houses that lay across the road. Suddenly she heard someone singing and then could
see an old man in a pilot suit singing in glory. The beautiful sound and the melody made the little
girl happy. Suddenly he stopped and gazed up toward her. “What are you staring at?” he said
angrily. “You think I’m a circus clown? (马戏团小丑)” “No, Sir. I was just listening to you. You sing
very well,” she said. “I don’t need your praises. I don’t need anyone!” he shouted. He started towalk to his house and shut the door. Tears rolled down from her apple-red cheeks as the man
shouted at her. She was lonely.
Next morning, Maggie pushed her wheelchair across the garden to the stone road as little
children played hide-and-seek around her. Suddenly out of nowhere a loading truck came
rumbling across toward her. Terrified, she tried to move away from its path but the wheels of her
chair were stuck. “Oh my,” she thought as the truck came in her direction fast, with the driver
unaware of the obstruction in front of him. She screamed loudly but in a split second she was
pulled out of her wheelchair by someone and fell on the ground. She closed her eyes and
shivered as the truck passed her whistling. As she opened her eyes, she could see a man standing
beside her.

She gazed up to him and immediately recognized him as the man she saw singing last
night." Thank you for saving me," she said in gratitude," and I ' m sorry if I bothered you last nightwith my listening." The man looked at her, a softness in his eyes." I didn’t mean to be so harsh."
he said, his voice filled with remorse. The softness opened Maggie’s heart. She poured out her
story of the accident, her longing for a friend, and her obsession with flying. Ken listened intently,
his heart going out to the young girl." And I don’t seem to be the only one who loves flying." said
the girl, eyeing the man’s uniform.
Maggie got to know his name was Ken and that he was a retired pilot. As the sun began to
set, Maggie learned so much about Ken that she realized that she had found a true friend in Ken.
For the first time in a long time, she felt genuine happiness. The next day, Ken came back to visit
Maggie with a small gift, a book about flying. Maggie’s face lit up as she flipped through the
pages, imagining herself soaring through the clouds. Many afternoons saw them in the garden,
laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Their friendship grew stronger with each passing
day.

There are too many treasures in life we take for granted, the worth of which we don’t fully
realize until they’re pointed out to us in some unexpected way. So it was with Mama’s
minestrone soup (意大利浓菜汤).
There was no recipe for her minestrone soup. For our large immigrant family, Mama’s soup
guaranteed we would never go hungry. It was a symbol of security. Its recipe was created
spontaneously (非计划安排地) from what was in the kitchen. And we could judge the state of
our family economy by its contents. A hearty soup with tomatoes, pasta, beans, carrots, celery,
onion, corn and meat indicated things were going well. A water y soup suggested hard times.
At one time, however, Mama’s soup pot became a source of embarrassment to me, for I
feared it would cost me a new friend I had made at school. Sol was a thin, dark-haired boy, and
an unusual pal for me because his father was a doctor and they lived in the best part of town.
Often Sol invited me to his home for dinner. The family had a cook in a white uniform who
worked in a kitchen with shining utensils The food was good, but I found it bland (清
淡的), lacking the heartiness of my home food served from flame-blackened pots. Moreover, the
atmosphere matched the food. Everything was so formal. Sol’s mother and father were polite,
but conversation around the table was subdued (克制的). And no one hugged! In our family,
warm hugs were a constant and if you didn’t kiss your mother, she demanded: “What’s the
matter, you sick?” But at that time in my life, all this was an embarrassment.
I had known Sol would like to eat dinner at our house, but that was the last thing I wanted. My family was so different.

Finally when Sol asked again if he could come to our house, I had to say yes. The
day Sol came over I was very nervous. Mama and the other family members welcomed him with
embraces. Soon after sitting at the heavy, deeply stained table, we were instantly faced with
bowls of soup. “Sol,” Mama asked, “you know what this is?” “Soup?” Sol responded. “No soup,”
Mama said emphatically. “It’s minestrone!” She then launched into a long explanation of the
power of minestrone: how it cured headaches, colds. And Mama even said the soup would make
Sol strong. I was so embarrassed, convinced that this would be the last time I would ever see my
friend Sol.
But to my amazement, I noticed Sol took a spoonful of Mama’s minestrone soup. His initial
he sitation gave way to genuine enjoyment. And as the evening progressed, I saw him relax, his
rigid posture melting away in my family’s easy atmosphere. After he finished his bowl, he asked
for two more. “I like it a lot,” he said, slurping. When we were saying our good-byes, Sol confided,“You sure have a great family.” Then he added, “Boy, you are lucky!” Lucky? I wondered.
Suddenly, it dawned on me that true wealth wasn’t measured in polished silver or spotless
kitchens. It was found in the simple joys of family, laughter, and a steaming bowl of Mama’s
minestrone soup.

The Secret
“Your secret is safe with me” was Ming’s promise when I told him that I wanted to learn
ballet, which was unusual for boys and must be laughed at by most people in my place. I even
dared not tell my parents about it.
Ming was my best friend at school. Wearing the same type of school uniform, Ming looked
older and bigger, but we were the same age. We grew up together in the same neighbourhood
and our parents knew each other well. Ming was always the first one to hear stories from me. I
trusted him on everything and anything. One afternoon after school, we met at the balance bars
on the school playground as usual. It was just the two of us. I gathered up courage and told him
about my secret.
Ming seemed slightly surprised, but he soon smiled and agreed to keep it a secret for me,
as he had done other times. We were best friends after all. After a few push-ups, we headed for
our own homes.
The next morning, in the school corridor, just as I was about to wave at him and say hi, I
noticed something was different. As soon as he saw me, he dropped his head and continued to
walk on, avoiding eye contact with me. In the classroom, I couldn’t help casting frequent glimpses
at his side—he wasn’t looking at me. In fact, he remained quiet all day. When the school bell
rang, he picked up his schoolbag and left the classroom in a rush. Was it because of my secret?
What did he do to my secret?
I ate very little that evening. Mum frowned when she saw the food I’d left in the bowl. Dad
threw me a disapproving look and asked me how my day was. “It was OK,” I replied, “lots of
homework to do.” I stood up, ready to leave the table.

Wait!” Dad raised his hand and gestured me to sit down. His eyes looked serious.
After a few seconds of silence, he spoke, “We know it. Ming told his parents, and his dad told me
about it.” I could hear my own heartbeat. “I’ve asked them to keep it a secret. They’ll make sure
Ming doesn’t talk about it either,” Dad added. A relief, followed by a profound sense of sadness.
“You should learn a lesson from this. Don’t talk about things you don’t understand.”
“Ming will remain your friend,” Dad comforted me. I dropped my head, tears in my eyes. I
felt a sense of relief wash over me. Perhaps Ming just needed time to process what I had shared
with him. Dad advised me to give Ming some space and continue being supportive. I followed his
advice, waiting patiently for things to return to normal. Gradually, I noticed a change in Ming’s
behavior. He started to smile and engage with me again, proving that our friendship was still
complete.

For many, an act of kindness is its own reward. But Eva Hachey found her selflessness
answered in ways she could never have imagined.
For weeks, Eva Hachey had imagined adopting a golden Chihuahua with a white spot on its
forehead. And there he was, at her local SPCA in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The dog had been
abused by his previous owners and was timid. “He’d come to me, then back away and growl, then
come back to me,” Hachey said. “After 15 minutes, the attendant picked him up and put him in
my lap. He started giving me kisses. He stole my heart in that moment.” She adopted the ten-
month-old puppy on the spot and named him Bruno.
Bruno lived happily with Hachey and her 35-year-old daughter, Angel Hutchinson, for five
months. Then, on the evening of September 26, 2016, Hachey, 52 at the time, returned home as
usual at 8 p. m. from her job as a chiropractic assistant and office manager. And as usual, she ate
supper in front of the TV in the living room. Around 10:30, a friend called, just as Bruno went into
Hutchinson’s room to go to sleep for the night. Hachey and her friend chatted a bit, and asHachey hung up, she noticed the time was 11:08.
“The next thing I remember was a male voice saying, ‘Eva, Eva, wake up.’ It was an
emergency doctor,” said Hachey. “I looked around, and the room was just full of people. And I
said, ‘What are you doing in my house?’”
What they were doing was saving her life. By the time Hachey had hung up with her friend,
Hutchinson was fast asleep in her bedroom and Bruno was in his usual spot next to her under the
blankets. Hachey believed Bruno heard something odd then and possibly went to the living room
to investigate.

One possible version:
Unexpectedly, Bruno ran back to the bedroom and tried every means to awaken
Hutchinson. He barked and jumped on and off the bed. When that didn’t work, he attacked
Hutchinson’s fleshy skin between her fingers. Finally, Hutchinson woke up and was immediately
led into the living room, only to discover Hatchey passed out in the chair. She had almost stopped
breathing and was apparently in danger. Without hesitation, Hutchson lifted her head up so her
mother could breathe, and dialed 911 on her cell. The ambulance finally arrived and Hatche ywas rushed to the hospital. It turned out that she suffered a stroke and would have died without
the quick response.
A year later, Hachey finally fully recovered. Recalling the experience, she was convinced
that being found so quickly after the attack was the key factor in helping her survive. She owed it
to Bruno, saying that it was he that saved her life. “I never imagined he would save my life when I
adopted him. I do believe the animal will pick us and I am lucky he chose me.” Hatchey gazed at
Bruno and stroked his fur gently, smiling contentedly. Any act of kindness is its own reward, no
matter how small it seems.
