I was invited to a cookout on an old friend’s farm in western Washington. I parked my car outside the farm and
walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used in many years. A noise at a window caught my
attention, so I entered it. It was a hummingbird (蜂鸟), desperately trying to escape. She was covered in spider-
webs (蛛网) and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up.
With the bird in my cupped hand, I looked around to see how she had gotten in. The broken window glass was
the likely answer. I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me.
When I opened my hand, the bird did not fly away; she sat looking at me with her bright eyes. I removed the
sticky spider-webs that covered her head and wings. Still, she made no attempt to fly. Perhaps she had been
struggling against the window too long and was too tired? Or too thirsty?
As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move. I
stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away.
Hovering (悬停), she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature
looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight.
During the cookout, I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I
was departing, my friends walked me to my car. I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center
of our group and began hovering. She turned from person to person until she came to me. She again looked directly
into my eyes, then let out a squeaking call and was gone. For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said,
“She must have come to say goodbye.”注意：

David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his
classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were
doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team.
It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run
long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with
the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination.

I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second

sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.

to give it a try.I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith (银匠) in Boston who rode a horse at

straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice.
What did the horse think, as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit? I
sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I
worked hard. I checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half dozen
books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.”
I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the
enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care.

French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jenna found the bread and put two slices into
the egg mixture. Next, Jeff turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going
smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna
threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it
cooked nicely.
Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge
boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the
stove was a mess now. Jenna told Jeff to clean it up so they could continue to cook the rest of the porridge. But
Jeff’s hand touched the hot burner and he gave a cry of pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cold water. Then she
caught the smell of burning. Oh dear! The piece of bread in the pan had turned black as well.

(一) 读后续写特点
读后续写多以记叙文故事类文章为主，而且主题多与社会，自然和自我相结合。因此，做好读后续写
的英语写作的前提是研究记叙文的行文规律以及了解读后续写的考察能力：
一、把握短文关键信息和语言特点的能力。学生需要了解所给短文的主要内容，清楚其关键词和语言
结构的使用情况，并通过续写短文表现出来。
二、语言运用的准确性和丰富性。学生能准确、恰当地使用所学词汇和语言结构，还能够根据内容需
要使用较多、较复杂的词汇和语言结构。
三、对语篇结构的把控能力。学生需要掌握上下文逻辑关系，所续写的短文与所给短文及段落开头语
之间要有连贯性，所续写的短文内语句要连贯、有序。
四、创造性思维能力。学生所续写的短文要具有较丰富的内容，包含详细和生动的情景、态度和感情
描述。
(二) 读后续写评分标准
一、评分细则
1．本题总分为25分，按五个档次进行评分。
2．评分时，应先根据作答的整体情况确定其所属的档次，然后以该档次的要求来综合衡量，确定或
调整档次，最后给分。
3．评分时，应主要从内容、词汇语法和篇章结构三个方面考虑，具体为：
(1)续写内容的质量、完整性以及与原文情境的融洽度；
(2)所使用词汇和语法结构的准确性、恰当性和多样性；
(3)语句间的衔接和全文的连贯性。
4．评分时还应注意：
(1)词数少于120的，酌情扣分；
(2)书写较差以致影响阅卷的，酌情扣分；
(3)单词拼写和标点符号是写作规范的重要方面，评分时应视其对交际的影响程度予以考虑，英、美拼
写及词汇用法均可接受。
二、各档次的给分范围和要求
1．第五档(21～25分)
情节设置合理，内容丰富完整，富有逻辑性，与原文情境融洽度高；使用了丰富多样的词汇和语法结
构，语言错误很少，且完全不影响理解；有效地使用了语句间的衔接手段。
2．第四档(16～20分)
情节设置比较合理，内容比较丰富完整，富有逻辑性，与原文情境融洽度较高；使用了比较丰富的词
汇和语法结构，错误较少，但不影响理解；比较有效地使用了语句间的衔接手段。
3．第三档(11～15分)
情节设置基本合理，内容比较完整，有一定的逻辑性，续写基本完整，与原文话题相关；使用了简单
的词汇和语法结构，有一些错误和不恰当之处，但基本不影响理解；基本有效地使用了语句间的衔接手段。4．第二档(6～10分)
情节设置不够合理，内容不完整，逻辑存在较大问题，与原文情境有一定程度的脱节；所用词汇有限，
语法结构单调，错误较多，影响理解；未能有效地使用语句间的衔接手段。
5．第一档(1～5分)
情节设置完全不合理，续写不完整，毫无逻辑，或部分内容抄自原文，与原文情境基本脱节；所使用
的词汇有限，语法结构混乱，严重影响理解；几乎没有使用语句间的衔接手段。
6．零分：
未作答，所写内容太少或无法看清以致无法评判；所写内容全部抄自原文或与题目要求完全不相关。
(三) 读后续写简单写作步骤
读后续写的过程主要包括读文(Read)、设计(Plot)、初稿(Draft)和润色(Polish)四个步骤，具体如下：
1．读文
通过阅读定位所提供语言材料的核心信息，包括文章主题、篇章结构、写作要素(5W1H)、情感变化等，
目的是梳理内容的发展脉络和推进方向。本步骤的关键在于高效的阅读，要求学生在尽可能短的时间内，
基于对某种语言的掌握，利用分析综合、分类比较、归纳演绎、抽象概括等逻辑思维技能，理清语篇的情
节脉络，积极寻找有效信息。
2．设计
(1)续写第一段的内容设计既要考虑与上文的融洽衔接，同时也要考虑本段和续写最后一段开头语的呼
应和衔接，而后者是容易忽视的部分。简言之，第一段的内容设计要成功搭建本段与上下文的桥梁；
(2)续写第二段是文章的结尾，要关注与文章开头的遥相呼应，根据具体语境弘扬感情的真、人性的善
或拼搏的美，从而凸显主题，升华精神。考虑利用抒情和议论等表达方式使得画龙点睛之处能够表露文章
深处蕴含的主题意蕴、思想感情或人生哲理；
(3)灵活运用各种描写手法，以帮助打造鲜活灵动的人物形象和丰富充实的情节链条。以动作描写、语
言描写和心理描写为主，辅之以恰当的外貌描写和环境描写。情节的推动主要靠动作描写，要完整描绘每
一动作的前因和后果。语言描写包括独白和对话，可以反映人物情感、行为动机，或预示和推动故事情节
发展。心理描写聚焦于某一境况下人物的内心活动，可以细腻地展示人物跌宕起伏的心路历程。外貌描写
和环境描写的使用应根据情节发展和主题表达的实际需要。
3．初稿
按照情节链条进行初稿的撰写。此过程应注意以下几点：
(1)分析原文语言表达方面的显著特征，观察有无直接引语、各类从句、特殊句型、非谓语动词等。通
过模仿和创造，尽量提高与原文的协同，力求在各个语言层次(关键词、短语和句型等)的表达风格上和原
文保持一致。
(2)先在头脑里组织整个句子的语法结构和内容走势，然后动笔书写，从而下笔流畅、整洁美观，避免
字字艰难、反复涂改。
(3)对词汇的选择务必字斟句酌、精挑细选。文章是语言文字编成的织锦，词汇是构成文章唯一的材料，
是文章的色彩和音色，要确保围绕主题之下的词汇使用在理性思维引导下，能够丰富多彩和恰当合理。
4．润色
核查连接词、词数、语法词汇和标点等方面。核查有无连接词的使用；如无，应增添连接词，以保持
上下文的衔接和连贯。词数控制在150～160范围内为佳。最后通读全文，核查标点和语法词汇。(四) 读后续写写作原则
读后续写的写作中，我们应该注意下面几个写作原则：
1．传递正能量
续写故事应符合积极的生活态度和价值取向，主题必须是积极向上的，问题得到解决，矛盾冲突得到
化解，呈现完美结局。
2．把握两大主线
(1)故事的发展线索；
(2)主人公情感变化的线索。
3．四句定主体
(1)根据给出的续写第一段的首句，提出问题、预设故事情节发展走向，确定续写第一段的续写内容；
(2)根据给出的续写第二段的首句，确定续写第一段的最后一句， 以保证两段之间的衔接过渡；
(3)根据给出的续写第二段的首句，思考故事如何结尾，从而确定续写第二段的续写内容；
(4)确定文章最后一句，思考如何与前文做好首尾呼应，给故事安排一个完美的结局。
【2024年高考命题预测】
根据近几年的高考命题分析，2024年高考读后续写考查人与自我的人物故事可能性很
大，也有可能是人和动物之间的和谐相处。

It was time for graduates to hunt for jobs. The majority of them didn’t have working experience for they had
spent most of their time at school studying academic subjects. It was not until they graduated from college that they
realized it was a challenge for them to land jobs.
Jimmy, one of these job hunters, was a young academically excellent person. One day, after making good
preparations, he went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. In spite of fierce competition, he
managed to pass the first interview. What a lucky dog! Jimmy was informed to come for the next round in a few
days — the last interview for the company to make the final decision.
The big day finally came. He dressed neatly, the grey tie matching perfectly the decent suit. Blood rushing to
his face and heart pounding heavily, he tried to calm down, and then took a few deep breaths. It was his turn.
The interviewer, an elegant lady, discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were
excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research. After several rounds of questions
related to the position, she asked, “Have you ever done any part-time jobs?” “None.” After a while, the interviewer
asked who paid for Jimmy’s school fees. The youth answered in a low voice, “My father passed away when I was
one year old, so it was my mother who paid for all my school fees.”
She continued, “What did your mother do?” “My mother worked as a clothes cleaner.” The lady requested the
youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The interviewer paused for a second, leaning against the chair, “Have you ever helped your mother wash theclothes before?” Ashamed, Jimmy replied, “Never. My mother always wanted me to study and read more books.
Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.” She nodded, adding, “I have a request. When you go
back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me back here tomorrow morning.”

【解析】本文以人物为线索展开，讲述了学业优秀的吉米去参加招聘面试，他从中学到研究生的学习成绩
一直都很优秀。在面试官得知，从小失去父亲的吉米，一直由做洗衣工的母亲独自抚养，既没有做过兼职

and stores all over town to get us exactly the toys we had requested. She was my comfort. She was magical. I
missed her desperately.

in the noise and shaky rhythm of the bus. I suddenly sensed a soft hand tapping my elbow (手肘), asking for
attention. Turning around, I found a middle-aged man with a kind smile looking up at me. He suddenly stood up
and said I could take his seat for some time. I was pleasantly surprised and immediately accepted his offer, my
entire body heaving a sigh of relief. The man, whose seat I was in, stood next to me, looking around in amusement.
After about 20 minutes, I signalled him to take back his space. A man, who was sitting by the window on the other
side of the bus, had observed our exchange.
