🌸 题目问的是 “The main purpose of the passage is…” 你却答了 “What is the passage mainly about?”——两个很像,但不是一回事!

🌟 What is the main idea / main point of the passage?

🌟 The passage is mainly about…

🌟 The main purpose of the author is to…

🌟 Which of the following statements best summarizes the passage?

🌟 According to the passage, when/where/why/did…

🌟 It is stated in the passage that…

🌟 Which of the following is (not) mentioned / true?

🌟 How many / How much / What happened…?

When did… / At what time…
地点
Where did… / In which place…
原因
Why did… / What caused…
结果
What happened / What was the result…
方式
How did… / In what way…
What does the scientist say/believe/think…

🌟 It can be inferred/concluded from the passage that…

🌟 We can learn from the passage that…

🌟 The author implies/suggests that…

🌟 Which of the following conclusions can be drawn from the passage?

🌟 The word “…” (underlined) in the passage most probably means…

🌟 The phrase “…” in Line X refers to…

🌟 What does the word “…” in the last paragraph refer to?

🌸 -tion/-sion = ……

🌸 对比信号:but / however / unlike / while / whereas → 猜相反意思

🌸 因果信号:because / so / as a result / therefore → 猜原因或结果

🌸 举例信号:for example / such as / including → 猜概括词或具体词

🌸 解释信号:that is / in other words / which means → 猜同义替换

🌟 The author’s attitude toward… is (generally)…

🌟 What is the tone/mood of the passage?

🌟 The writer probably agrees/disagrees with…

🌟 How does the author feel about…?

supportive, optimistic, positive, approving
反对
critical, skeptical, negative, pessimistic
客观
objective, neutral, matter-of-fact
情感
admiring, enthusiastic, hopeful
concerned, worried, disappointed
subjective, indifferent

🌟 The best title for the passage is…

🌟 Which of the following is the most suitable title?

🌟 The passage could be titled…

🌟 What does the word “this/that/they/it” in Line X refer to?

🌟 The underlined word “…” in the context refers to…

🌟 this/that:指代前面整句话的内容

The survey shows that 65% of students prefer online learning.

The survey shows that most students prefer online learning.

🌸 常见词:always / never / all / none(太绝对)/ some / a few / occasionally

Scientists believe climate change may lead to more extreme weather.

Scientists believe climate change will lead to more extreme weather.

Reading books can improve your memory and concentration.

Reading books is the most effective way to learn a new language.

🌸 常见词:not / never / without / except

The new policy has reduced traffic accidents in the city.

The new policy has increased traffic accidents in the city.

The program started in 2020 and has helped over 10,000 students.

The program started in 2021 and has helped over 10,000 students.

→ “helped over 10,000 students” 对,但 “started in 2021” 错(原文是2020)!

What is the main purpose of the passage?

The author wants to prove that reading is beneficial.(答的是"阅读有什么好处",不是"文章目的")

Checklist

❌ 避免选:虚词(the, a, of, in 等)

❌ 避免选:太过笼统的词(good, important, many)

Why did the author give up studying abroad?

关键词: gave up studying abroad

🌸 扫转折词后面的内容(but / however / although)

In 2023, the number of international students in the UK reached 568,000, a 12% increase compared with the previous year. Most students came from China, India, and the United States, with Chinese students making up the largest group at 23% of the total.

According to the passage, where did most international students in the UK come from in 2023?

选项:

A. China, India, and the United States.

B. China only.

C. India and the United States.

D. The United States.

解析:

🌸 关键词:most international students, came from

Most students came from China, India, and the United States…

✅ 答案:A

The study followed 500 students over a period of ten years. Researchers found that those who read for pleasure for at least 30 minutes a day scored significantly higher in standardized tests. Interestingly, the type of book did not seem to matter — fiction, non-fiction, and biographies all showed similar benefits.

It can be inferred from the passage that __________.

选项:

A. Reading for pleasure is the only way to improve test scores.

B. Students who read less than 30 minutes a day cannot succeed in tests.

C. Reading habits may have a positive effect on academic performance.

D. Students should read only biographies to get higher scores.

❌ A “only way” 太绝对,原文没说"唯一"

❌ B “cannot succeed”

✅ C “positive effect on academic performance” 是原文 “scored significantly higher” 的合理推断

❌ D “only biographies” 与原文 “the type of book did not seem to matter” 矛盾

Unlike traditional education, which focuses on memorization, modern teaching methods emphasize critical thinking. Students are encouraged to question, analyze, and form their own opinions rather than simply accept information from textbooks.

The word “critical thinking” in the passage most probably means __________.

选项:

A. Remembering facts and information

B. Judging something in a negative way

C. Thinking carefully and independently to form judgments

D. Accepting opinions from experts

Students are encouraged to question, analyze, and form their own opinions”

❌ D “接受专家意见” 与 form their own opinions 矛盾

It is shocking that many young people spend hours every day scrolling through social media, often at the expense of real human connections. While technology companies continue to profit from our attention, the mental health of a generation is being put at risk. It is high time that something was done to address this growing problem.

The author’s attitude toward the influence of social media on young people is __________.

选项:

A. Positive

B. Neutral

C. Critical

D. Indifferent

  • “at the expense of real human connections”(以牺牲真实人际为代价)→ 负面

  • “mental health … being put at risk”(心理健康受到威胁)→ 负面

  • “It is high time that something was done”(是时候采取行动了)→ 急切、担忧

✅ 答案:C(Critical 批评的)

The urban heat island effect refers to the phenomenon where cities are significantly warmer than surrounding rural areas. This is mainly caused by human activities, the massive use of concrete and asphalt, and the lack of vegetation. The consequences include higher energy consumption, increased air pollution, and health risks for vulnerable groups such as the elderly. Various measures, such as planting more trees and using reflective building materials, have been proposed to reduce the effect.

What is the main idea of the passage?

选项:

A. Cities are warmer than rural areas.

B. Urban heat island effect: causes, consequences, and solutions.

C. Planting more trees can solve the heat problem.

D. Human activities cause global warming.

✅ B 覆盖了全文:原因(concrete/asphalt/lack of vegetation)+ 后果(energy/pollution/health)+ 解决方案(planting trees/reflective materials)
