Anno Domini618,China entered the Tang Dynasty.Back then, people added salt, spices and other seasonings to tea leaves and boiled them together for drinking.

Anno Domini 960,China entered the Song Dynasty.People ground tea into powder, added water to make a paste and drank it. This way of drinking tea was known as Dian Cha.

Anno Domini1206,China entered the Yuan Dynasty.In the imperial court, people mixed butter and flour into tea to make a paste. It could be drunk as well as eaten as a meal. Traditional Chinese tea drinking began to take on nomadic features.

Anno Domini1368,China entered the Ming Dynasty.The Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang issued an imperial edict to abolish the complicated tea-making procedures of the previous dynasty, adopting instead the method of brewing tender tea leaves directly with boiling water. This tea-drinking method has been passed down to this day and remains the mainstream way of tea consumption in modern times.

    Perhaps unknown to you, for thousands of years, my forebears offered tea as tribute to emperors, nobles and officials. Meanwhile, they also shared tea with relatives and friends.
