阅读理解 A 2024·广东模拟Ⅰ 说明文 310词 ★★★★☆ For some people, October is Octobear. On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter. Bear 747, also known as “Bear Force One”, took the firstplace spot with 68, 105 votes. It weighed around 1,400 pounds. Fat Bear Week started in 2014. At first, it was just Fat Bear Tuesday. Mike Fitz, a former park keeper at Katmai, noticed that live webcams showing the bears generated a lot of online comments, so he let people vote for their favorite fat bear on the Internet. The oneday event attracted 1,700 votes. In 2015 , it was extended to a week. Last year, nearly 800,000 people got involved, turning it into a global campaign. The contest serves two main purposes. First, some of America's national parks are in remote and undeveloped areas, which are difficult or costly to reach. Fat Bear Week brings Alaska's wilderness to fans' computer screens. “ It's not limited to the fortunate few who can go to the river anymore,” Fitz said. Second, Fat Bear Week brings attention to the bears and the ecosystems they live in. “ The 2,200 bears of Katmai are strong for feeding on some of the healthiest salmon (三文鱼) in the world,” said Sara Wolman, a former park keeper. Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are suffering from overfishing, dam construction and warming rivers due to climate change. Luckily, Brooks River, which Katmai's bears like to fish in, has been free from these threats so far. Fat Bear Week has spread like viruses. Fans and creators say it's because it shows a conservation success story. For one week, people don't have to focus on climate change or habitat loss. “ Maybe things aren't super great all the time in the world,” said Felicia Jimenez, who is a current Katmai keeper. “ But there are some really fat bears in Alaska. 1.Why was Bear 747 the winner? A.Fat Bear Week: Conservation Is Joyful B.Brown Bears: Winter Survival Is Crucial C.Bear 747: A Fat Yet Healthy Champion D.Katmai's Bears: A Special Beauty Contest 答案与解析:A 理解文章主旨要义。 B 2022·全国乙卷 应用文 321词 ★★★★☆ In 1916, two girls of wealthy families, best friends from Auburn, N.Y.—Dorothy Woodruff and Rosamond Underwood—traveled to a settlement in the Rocky Mountains to teach in a one- room schoolhouse. The girls had gone to Smith College. They wore expensive clothes. So for them to move to Elkhead, Colo. to instruct the children whose shoes were held together with string was a surprise. Their stay in Elkhead is the subject of Nothing Daunted: The Unexpected Education of Two Society Girls in the West by Dorothy Wickenden, who is a magazine editor and Dorothy Woodruff's granddaughter. Why did they go then? Well, they wanted to do something useful. Soon, however, they realized what they had undertaken. They moved in with a local family, the Harrisons, and like them, had little privacy, rare baths, and a blanket of snow on their quilt when they woke up in the morning. Some mornings, Rosamond and Dorothy would arrive at the schoolhouse to find the children weeping from the cold. In spring, the snow was replaced by mud over ice. In Wickenden's book, she expanded on the history of the West and also on feminism, whichof course influenced the girls' decision to go to Elkhead. A hairraising section concerns the building of the railroads, which entailed (牵涉) drilling through the Rockies, often in blinding snowstorms. The book ends with Rosamond and Dorothy's return to Auburn. Wickenden is a very good storyteller. The sweep of the land and the stoicism (坚忍) of the people move her to some beautiful writing. Here is a picture of Dorothy Woodruff, on her horse, looking down from a hill top:“When the sun slipped behind the mountains, it shed a rosy glow all around them. Then a full moon rose. The snow was marked only by small animals: foxes, coyotes, mice, and varying hares, which turned white in the winter.” 5.Why did Dorothy and Rosamond go to the Rocky Mountains? A.To teach in a school. B.To study American history. C.To write a book. D.To do sightseeing. 根据第一段“In 1916, two girls of wealthy families, best friends from Auburn, N.Y.—Dorothy Woodruff and Rosamond Underwood—traveled to a settlement in the Rocky Mountains to teach in a oneroom schoolhouse. 故选A项。 6.What can we learn about the girls from Paragraph 3? A.The enjoyed much respect. B.They had a room with a bathtub. C.They lived with the local kids. D.They suffered severe hardships. 根据第三段“They moved in with a local family, the Harrisons, and like them, had little privacy, rare baths, and a blanket of snow on their quilt when they woke up in the morning.(他们和一个当地家庭,哈里森一家一起搬进去,和他们一样, 几乎没有隐私,很少洗澡,早上醒来时被子上覆盖着一层雪。)”以及“In spring, the snow was replaced by mud over ice.(在春天,雪被泥替代覆盖在冰上。)” 7.Which part of Wickenden's writing is hairraising? A.The extreme climate of Auburn. B.The living conditions in Elkhead. C.The railroad building in the Rockies. D.The natural beauty of the West. 根据倒数第二段“A hairraising section concerns the building of the railroads, which entailed drilling through the Rockies, often in blinding snowstorms.(令人毛骨悚然的一段与铁路建设有关,这涉及到在令人眩目的暴风雪中钻穿落 基山脉。)” 8.What is the text? A.A news report. B.A book review.C.A children's story. D.A diary entry. 根据倒数第二段“The book ends with Rosamond and Dorothy's return to Auburn.(这本书以Rosamond和Dorothy回到奥本结束。)”以及最后一段 “Wickenden is a very good storyteller. Though some writers find it imperfect, this structure works well for many screenplays. The first act of the threeact structure is typically described as being the first fourth of a story. A 120minute film would have the first act of about 30 minutes in length. In this section, the main and supporting characters are introduced and the basic problem of the story is presented. __2__. Following the plot point, the second act of a story begins, as the hero sets off to solve the problem. __3__; therefore, it might be the middle 60 minutes of a 120minute film. During this act, numerous obstacles (障碍) arise to prevent the hero from solving the problem. At one point in the second act, all hope seems lost and the characters believe that success cannot be achieved. This is called the midpoint and falls about halfway through the story. __4__, and continue moving with renewed purpose toward the plot point that ends the second act. __5__. In other words, it is about the last 30 minutes of a 120minute film. In this section, the problem reaches its climax (高潮) at the moment of the greatest dramatic tension. Once this occurs, the problem is essentially solved and the remaining story is a resolution. It allows the audience to return to normality and enjoy the victory of the hero over the problem. A.They come through this, however B.This act is usually half of the story C.The problem seems to be challenging D.The final act is the last fourth of the story E.They have reached a low point, experiencing a “false” loss F.It ends with a plot point that consists of the hero taking on the problem G.This basic format breaks up the story into three pieces, each called an “act” 【语篇解读】 本文是一篇说明文。 F项中的“a plot point”和“taking 定答案 on the problem”与下文中的“the plot point”和“solve the problem” 对应。 3. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ One possible version: A Chinese Classic Recitation Competition Last Friday afternoon, our school witnessed a Chinese Classic Recitation Competition at the first lecture hall to encourage us students to appreciate Chinese culture.
