9Smartphones have become basic part of our daily lives. According to a 2020 report by the China Internet
Network Information Center, China had 175 million Internet users under the age of 18 in 2019, with 74 percent
having their own smartphones. “This is worrying, as long-time use of smartphones harms children’s eyesight,
cervical vertebra and even the brain,” reported the World Health Organization.
On Feb 19, 2021, the Ministry of Education released a notice that asked all local primary and middle schools
to include rules about smartphone usage at school management. Many schools have taken rules to limit students’
phone use at school.
Zhou Dandan, an English teacher at Beijing No. 20 High School, noticed that many students were crazy with
their phones. Some even played games on them in classes. Zhou said that most students lacked self-management.
Spending too much time on the phone will distract them and prevent them from learning, she added.
Liu Yanping, headmaster of First Branch of Beijing National Day School, thought every coin has two sides. So
it was unwise to take a “one size fits all approach”. “You can’t simply cut students off from the Internet in the
digital world,” Liu said.
Chen Xue, a parent from Wenzhou, allowed her daughter to take her phone to school. Chen said it was more
important to improve kids’ ability to self-management and developed good habits of phone usage.
Xu He, a 13-year old from Zhejiang, supports the policy. “In fact, my school has never allowed us to bring our
mobile phones,” Xu said. “It’s a distraction from our work. Even adults can’t control themselves, let alone kids like
us. “However, the 14-year old Ge Ziqi who uses a bike-sharing app every day to go between her home and school
said, “If I can’t take my phone with me, I’ll have to buy my own bicycle.”

2021 two sessions have included several important topics, such as food waste and wildlife protection.
Artificial intelligence (AI) which is influencing our lives in every way is in one of them.People are no longer
unfamiliar with AI. It has already been used to do housework, develop medicine, recognize faces, and so on. Now a
new painter is ready to join the list.
Next month, auction house Christie’s Prints and Multiples will make history by offering the first painting
created by AI for sale. The painting is a picture of a man called Edmond de Belamy, and is expected to be sold for
up to $10,000. The work was created by software developed by the French art group Obvious. It shows a man with
11a mysterious look on his face. Laugero-Lasserre, an art collector from France, called the work fantastic and
amazing at the same time. This isn’t the first example of Al-produced artwork, as AI has already been used to write
poems and songs. However, many people doubt whether it should be called art at all. “According to Russian writer
Leo Tolstroy (1828~1910), art is about creating emotion. It’s a mean of joining people together in the same
feelings,” he once said.
What is the emotion behind art? How to put the emotion into art? As we all know, the ability to create and use
tools is what makes human beings different from other species. People always create works with all kinds of
emotions, happy or upset, excited or disappointed. Several designers have made a lot of effort to create the
paintings by the AI technology. Together, they “fed” the AI with a huge collection of paintings from the 14th to the
18th centuries, until it was able to work out how to make similar paintings of its own.
The introduction of AI art could be the beginning of a new artistic movement. However, not everyone is ready
to welcome these high-tech artists yet.

B.The work is Laugero-Lasserre’s look.
C.An art collector thought badly of the work.
D.AI hasn’t created paintings before the sale.
67.How did the designers make AI create paintings?
A.They let AI practice repeatedly. B.They put a lot of paintings into AI.
C.They let AI watch famous paintings. D.They invited an artist to operate AI.
68.What will the writer most probably talk about in the paragraph that follows?
12A.Some examples supporting AI artworks.
B.Some different opinions about AI artworks.
C.Some famous artworks that AI has created.

According to a report, over 22,000 plastic bottles are thrown away every second, and the number is still
growing. Most plastic bottles end up in the oceans. They break into small pieces. Fish and birds often mistake them
for food.
Now Robert Bezeau has come up with an idea. It may not solve the world’s plastic woes, but will at least
make a difference — He plans to use the plastic bottles to build a village in the jungles of Bocas del Toro, Panama.
Robert Bezeau is a Canadian. He has been living in the Central American country for many years. One day, he
noticed there was so much plastic waste on the beautiful beaches. During one year and a half, Bezeau and his
volunteers collected over a million plastic bottles!
In 2015, he came up with the idea of using the bottles to build homes, and Plastic Bottle Village was born. So
far, only one two-story house has been built. But if Bezeau has his way, there will soon be 90 to 120 homes that will
make up Plastic Bottle Village. Depending on the size, each home needs between 10,000 to 25,000 bottles.
Interestingly, the bottles are good insulators (绝缘体) and help keep the home at a comfortable temperature.
Even better? The homes are also resistant (抵抗的) to an earthquake.
Recycling plastic bottles is good for our environment — So be sure to do your part!
69.Why shouldn’t we throw plastic bottles into the oceans?
