W: That’s a big change! They are likely two completely different worlds.
M: Do you think it’s strange to change majors?
W: Oh, I changed my major when I was your age, too. I know you’ll do well in any field. The only thing I’m

M: Hi, I’m calling to ask about the apartment advertised in today’s newspaper. Could you tell me about the size and
room design?
W: Of course. It’s a two-bedroom unit with a living room, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom. It comes with a
fridge and a microwave. But there’s no washing machine or TV.
M: I see. How much is the rent?
W: If you sign the rental agreement, we need $600 per month and ask you to pay a three-month rental in advance. If
you cancel during that period, you’ll lose the guarantee you pay first.
M: How much is that part?
W: It’s two-thirds of the monthly rental. You’ll get it back when you move out, but we will demand a clean-up and
charge a maintenance fee if there’s major damage.
M: Understood. One more thing: are pets allowed?
W: Only small caged pets, which can’t wander around. And no cats.
M: Thanks. Could I visit the apartment this weekend?
W: Sure, but I can’t guarantee it’ll still be available then.

【原文】      W: At the beginning of the tour, we will start with the most important place in my town, which is the
Plaza Leon. The Plaza Leon, which is more than 100 years old, is a gathering place for young people on Friday and
Saturday nights, and for parents and children on Sunday afternoons. Four streets lead to the Plaza, which have
white sidewalks. Hernandes Street, which was named after a famous writer born in the city, contains all of the food
stores, fish markets and vegetable stands. Fernando Street, which was named after an educator, is where all of the
government offices are housed. Via del Mar Street, whose roads are made of stones, is the only street which still has
its old surface. Finally, we come to Horatio Street, on which there are two universities. One of them is the most
famous university in my country. That’s why it is my favorite street of all.
