Bark
Cover Price: $19.80 Price: $15.00 ($2.50/issue (期) )
You save: $4.80 (24%) Review: By Pat Kane
I absolutely love Bark magazine! I love the "smiling" pages and the tips on every issue. I
am a dog lover and have saved all of my dogs from either death row or from people who were
going to put them down. Everyone should have a chance to live and Bark stresses that with its
articles. This magazine is a MUST HAVE for any dog lover!!
Dog Fancy
Cover Price: $54.00 Price: $14.99 ($1.25/issue)
You save: $39.01 (72%) Review: By Berner Mom
Don't waste your money on this magazine. 60-70 percent of it are advertisements, and
the articles offer little useful information. It might be suitable for children, but not adults who
are serious about educating themselves about dogs.
Dog World
Cover Price: $48.88 Price: $14.99 ($1.25/issue)
You save: $33.89 (69%) Review: By one critic
Dog World offers an abundance of captivating and intellectually challenging pieces that
cater to enthusiasts engaged in the realm of canine exhibitions, reproduction, and competitive
activities. Nonetheless, a significant portion of the publication's content, exceeding half, is
allocated to advertisements from breeders, which can be perceived as monotonous. Despite
this, the magazine is commendable for its articles. It presents a collection of well-crafted
articles, yet it is inundated with an excessive quantity of commercial notices.
Modern Dog
Cover Price: $45.00 Price: $15.00 ($3.75/issue)

My latest cherished periodical has captured my heart! It is a treasure trove of
aesthetically pleasing imagery, intellectually stimulating and delightfully entertaining
compositions, sartorial elegance, creative artistry, and in-depth conversations with prominent
individuals... all centered around the theme of canines! The front-page figures vary from the
illustrious Paris Hilton and the whimsical Tinkerbell to the esteemed Virginia Madsen
accompanied by her canine companions. Owing to the enlightening insights provided by
Modern Dog, I have become well-versed in the art of hosting a canine-centric social gathering
and have mastered the technique to effectively summon my dog in response to my call. It is
undoubtedly a publication that merits a thorough examination.

Maya had always been the type who planned everything. She kept color-coded calendars
and believed that hard work could control any outcome. This approach served her well through
high school — her grades were excellent, and her future seemed clearly mapped out.
Then came the ice storm. It hit on a Sunday evening in February, when Maya was going
over her study schedule. The wind roared outside, and within an hour, tree branches crashed down
across the neighborhood. The lights went out, enveloping the house in sudden darkness. Maya fell
silent, then stormed out of the room. She had been ready to spend the evening going through math
problems, and the unexpected cutoff had broken her carefully arranged plan.
Her mother lit candles while her father searched for the radio. Cut off from Wi-Fi and
mobile service, the family sat together in the living room. Maya’s younger brother suggested they
tell stories, something they had not done together in years. Though unwilling at first, Maya
listened as her parents shared memories from their own childhoods — moments she had never
known before. When it was Maya’s turn, she talked about a summer camp she had joined years
ago. She described the girl who taught her to take a boat, the night they lay watching shooting
stars, and the lightness of being free from busy schedules. As she spoke, she realized how seldom
she let herself hold onto moments that could never be planned.
The power stayed off for three days. Maya did not open a single textbook. Instead, she
played board games with her brother and discovered that her father knew every word to songs
from the 1980s. She also spent long hours by the window, watching ice turn the familiar streets
into something strangely beautiful.
When the electricity finally returned, Maya did not hurry back to her old habit. Something
inside her had changed. She had come to see that life’s unexpected breaks were not always losses.
Sometimes they were chances to notice what she had been too busy to see.
24.What can we know about Maya from paragraph 1?
A.She was unwilling to try new things.
B.She preferred to live a well-organized life.
C.She was easy to get satisfied with small gains.
D.She cared little about her school performance.
25.How did Maya feel about the power cut at first?
A.Annoyed.
B.Confused.
C.Relieved.
D.Frightened.
26.What happened during the three days without power?
A.Maya stuck to her study plan as usual.
B.Maya cleared the ice-covered streets outside.
C.The family spent some quality time together.
D.The family made up many interesting stories about kids.
27.What quality has Maya most probably developed through this experience?
A.Responsibility. B.Independence.
C.Determination.
D.Adaptability.

Although gratitude is often top of mind around the holidays, child development experts say
this season is really a reminder that thankfulness works best as a daily, year-round practice, one
that can meaningfully support children’s emotional health.
“As children regularly practice noticing small, good things, they’re building neural (神经系
统的) paths that help them shift attention away from stress and toward positive aspects of their
experience,” children’s music artist, author and mindfulness educator Kira Willey said. Over time,
she said, those repeated moments help children “find good ground in all kinds of situations, even
when things feel confusing”.
As concerns about youth mental health continue, experts say gratitude remains one of the
simplest and most accessible tools families can use to support kids’ emotional recovery. For many
families, gratitude has become a practical strategy for easing day-to-day stress.
Janine Marcello, a mom from Rhode Island, said that her family began a nightly gratitude
check-in when her two daughters were struggling with uncertainty. “It wasn’t anything difficult,”
Marcello said. “We’d just sit and go around saying one thing we appreciated that day. At first they
rolled their eyes, but after a few weeks they were reminding me to do it. It honestly helped all of
us settle our nerves.”
Experts describe gratitude as a multi-step skill: noticing something positive, recognizing
someone else helped make it happen, feeling appreciation and expressing it. Children aren’t born
knowing how to do this naturally; they build the skill slowly, often by watching adults model it.
For younger kids, gratitude works best when it’s playful, simple and added into routines
that already exist. “The magic secret is to keep it short, keep it playful, and make it regular by
keeping it to things you already do every day,” she said. That might mean pausing at breakfast to
appreciate where food came from, naming something that made them smile on the ride to school,
or sharing one small thing they’re grateful for at bedtime.
Parents shouldn’t worry if kids don’t immediately grasp the idea. The seeds you’re planting
through these repeated moments will grow over time.
28.What do child development experts stress about thankfulness?
A.Work on many kinds of holidays.
B.Support for kids’ emotional health daily.
C.Holidays for children’s physical health.
D.Paths to mental practice.
29.What benefit do repeated gratitude moments bring children?
A.Building neural pathways to focus on stress.
B.Recognizing stress easily.
C.Staying positive in different situations.
D.Noticing small good things.
30.How does gratitude work best for younger kids?
A.By being long and formal.
B.By being shared mainly at bedtime.
C.By being taught in special classes.
D.By being fun, simple and regular.
31.What’s the best title for the text?
A.Gratitude: Teaching Kids the Skill
B.Gratitude: Daily Practice for Kids’ Health
C.Holiday Gratitude: Why It Matters Much
D.Gratitude: A Family’s Daily Story
D
The ocean may appear boundless. It’s easy to imagine that fish and other ocean creatures
swim freely without restriction. That assumption, however, is mistaken. According to ecologist
Karissa Lear, many ocean species stick to specific habitats and seldom go beyond them. This habit
can cause unexpectedly big problems, especially when human-built structures get in the way.
Take, for example, the green sawfish living near the mouth of the Ashburton River in
Western Australia. In 2017, a large structure was built by the shore, stretching about 550 yards into
the sea. As Lear had feared, the construction did harm the critically endangered green sawfish —
they were unable to pass around the barrier. To Lear, this discovery supported a surprising new
idea that ocean animals, much like land species, need a helping hand getting around human-built
structures.
On land, wildlife crossings are becoming more common. Green bridges, for instance, help
bears and elk avoid a road in Canada’s Banff National Park. In 2022, a wildlife crossing in
Washington State was used more than 5,000 times by animals such as deer and coyotes. Although
the bridges are already popular on land, Lear says little attention has been paid to the idea of
wildlife crossings designed to help ocean animals get around safely.
For ocean animals, too many barriers can cut them off from important feeding sites. Overly
limited movement can lead to the development of isolated groups that are more likely to go
extinct. With more large structures planned for the Ashburton River area, Lear says the cumulative
(累积的) effect of multiple barriers is a real concern for the green sawfish’s future.
As the climate continues to change, paying attention to the needs of ocean animals is
important. Many are moving farther north, and they need suitable habitats to move through. To
address this, we can create crossings through human-built structures or protect habitats along their
migration routes. As we continue to engineer the ocean, such efforts could go a long way toward
protecting ocean life.
32.How does the author present the issue in the first paragraph?
A.By detailing research findings.
B.By describing a natural scene.
C.By addressing public concerns.
D.By challenging a common belief.
33.What effect did the structure near the Ashburton River have?
A.It provided a new habitat for ocean life.
B.It blocked the path of the green sawfish.
C.It attracted more new species to the area.
D.It drove the green sawfish into deep waters.
34.What does Lear imply about wildlife crossings?
A.They have reduced road accidents on land.
B.They will replace ocean barriers eventually.
C.They have destroyed land animals’ habitats.
D.They are urgently needed for ocean animals.
35.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Wildlife Crossings: From Land to Sea
B.When Ocean Life Is in Danger
C.The Sawfish That Lost Their Way HomeD.Ocean Structures: No Harm Done
第二节(共5 小题;每小题2. 5 分, 满分12. 5 分)

多余选项。
In the fast-paced world of 2026, many people find themselves feeling stressed, tired, or
disconnected from their own well-being. The good news is that small, science-backed changes to
your daily routine can make a big difference in how you feel. 36 These simple daily
practices don’t require much time or money, but they can help boost your mood and improve your
overall quality of life.
One of the most effective ways to feel better is to prioritize daily movement. It’s not about
doing intense workouts, but about staying active in a way that works for you. 37 Simply
walking, stretching, or dancing to your favorite music can release endorphins ( 内啡肽), which
help reduce stress and lift your mood.
38 The key practice is getting enough quality sleep. Many people underestimate
the importance of sleep, but it’s essential for both physical and mental health. Avoiding screens an
hour before bed and creating a calm bedtime routine can help you fall asleep faster and sleep more
soundly.
Connecting with others is crucial for emotional well-being as well. 39 In an era
of constant digital communication, face-to-face interactions can feel rare, but they’re vital for
building meaningful relationships. Spending time with others can reduce feelings of loneliness and
increase feelings of happiness.
Finally, don’t forget to take time for yourself. In a world that often values busyness, it’s
important to carve out moments of relaxation. This could be reading a book or practicing
meditation and enjoying the present moment. 40
A.You don’t have to push yourself too hard.
B.Taking deep breaths can help calm your mind.
C.Beyond physical activity, good mental rest also matters.
D.Spending time in nature is also a great way to reduce stress.
E.They can bring great benefits to your mental and physical health.
F.Yet nothing can compare with the comfort of in-person connections.
G.Taking care of your own needs isn’t selfish-it’s essential for well-being.

When I started my own technology writing business, it began well — I landed my first

Still, I was somewhat 51 and thought for a minute about crossing her off my list.
I thought, what is wrong with her? That’s the 52 I get for all the support I’ve given her

With nowhere else to turn, I searched online for magazines accepting 53 by

阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1 个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
After leaving her career in Paris, Yang Yuxiao returned to her hometown in Zhejiang,
breathing new life into the ancient art of Linhai paper cutting.
In France, Yang often felt 56 sense of wandering in a foreign land. She deeply
missed the warmth of home and her family, 57 eventually led her to make a life-
changing decision in 2016. She returned to Linhai and took 58 the Zhang Xiujuan
Paper-Cutting Museum, founded by her mother.
As part of Zhejiang’s intangible cultural heritage, Linhai paper cutting requires both
preservation and innovation. Yang tackled the challenge 59 (pose) by traditional paper’s
tendency to be affected by humidity (潮湿) and fading. Through continuous experimentation, she
explored new materials such as silk and cashmere cotton, ultimately 60 (secure) 13
national patents for her innovative approaches.
Ever since then, Yang 61 (integrate) traditional techniques with modern
applications 62 (creative), designing patterns for contemporary items. She intends to
weave functionality into the art form, making it relevant to modern lifestyles. Beyond product
innovation, Yang places a strong 63 (emphasize) on educational initiatives. She has
organized over 150 training sessions for villagers, 64 regularly offers livestreamed
classes to international audiences, having taught participants from numerous countries.
Looking ahead, Yang 65 (commit) to transforming Linhai paper cutting from a
traditional decorative art into a dynamic element of youth culture.

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My husband’s company promoted him and relocated us to New York City. Our first order of
business was to find a safe, affordable place to live. I refused to live in a crowded part of the city,
so we compromised ( 妥协) and agreed to move to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, which was a quiet
residential neighborhood in the southwest corner of New York.
I loved our sixth-floor apartment. It was quiet and close to the subway, making life in the
city convenient. Soon after settling in, I found a job as an administrative assistant at a famous
advertising agency. I had studied English education and dreamed of being a teacher, but I took the
job for its good pay.
The work was boring and tiring. I typed letters, answered phones, organized meetings and
arranged travel every day. I just watched the clock, waiting for breaks and the end of work. Many
documents on my desk had clear grammar and spelling mistakes, but I never corrected them. I
thought it was not my duty and I only needed to do what I was paid to do. I felt my job was tiny
and meaningless.
One day, I complained (抱怨) about my job to my grandma. She was a wise and brave
woman who had joined a women’s rights march and believed in fighting for what was right. She
listened quietly, then said gently, “Honey, don’t just do enough to get by. Always do your best.
Whatever you do, put your whole heart into it.”
She told me to correct the mistakes if I noticed them and to show my real ability. Her words
hit me deeply. I decided to change myself completely. From that day on, I took every task
seriously and tried my best to do it perfectly.
My co-workers and boss soon noticed my hard work and my good English skills. They
praised me and planned to offer me a better position. Just then, a high school English teaching
position opened up. It was exactly what I had been dreaming of.
注意:(1)词数应为150 个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Without a second thought, I applied for the teaching position.
