A Visual Guide to Healthy Eating
Think of this guide as a practical tool for planning healthy, balanced meals—whether you eat at home or pack food
for school or work.Building a Healthy and Balanced Diet
The Healthy Eating Plate gives a clear, visual way to put together a healthy meal. By placing several food
groups on one plate, it emphasizes balance, smart choices, and everyday eating patterns.

押题预测
核心题型及具体解决方法
what is most important in healthy eating:
● The kind of carbohydrate matters more than the total amount. Some carbohydrate sources—such as
vegetables (except potatoes), fruits, whole grains, and beans—are better choices than others.
● It advises people to stay away from sugary drinks, which add a lot of calories but usually provide little
nutrition in the American diet.
● It supports the use of healthy oils and does not set a strict upper limit on how much of one’s daily calories should
come from healthy fats. In this sense, the Healthy Eating Plate sends a message that is different from the low-fat
advice that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has promoted for decades.Your Plate and the
Planet
Food affects more than personal health. Different foods can also affect the environment in different ways.
Producing food is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, and it puts heavy pressure on the earth’s natural
resources.
1.Which food is NOT recommended to eat according to the Healthy Eating Plate?
A.Nuts added to a salad.
B.Brown rice with beans.
C.Steamed fish with vegetables.
D.Bacon served with white bread.
2.Why does the passage mention the USDA?
A.To show it is a famous food department.
B.To tell readers its advice is out of date.
C.To say the Healthy Eating Plate has a new idea.
D.To explain how to make low-fat food.
3.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Food choice quality matters most.
B.Balanced meals should avoid fats.
C.Healthy eating is mainly calorie counting.D.Sugary drinks cause weight gain.

What makes a city great for nature? Time Out surveyed 24,000 city-residents worldwide, asking them to rate
their city’s green spaces and access to nature. Here are four top-rated cities, based on the percentage of locals who
rated their city’s green spaces as “good” or “amazing”.

● Bath (UK) — This quiet British city took the crown as the world’s greenest city in 2026. Surrounded by
Gloucestershire countryside, Bath is filled with both small gardens and large parks. The city has adopted a 10-year
green plan to ensure a more sustainable and nature-rich future, using parks, gardens, and even canals as green
corridors.
● Chicago (USA) — Nicknamed “the city in a garden”, Chicago has over 600 parks across 8,800 acres. The
Chicago Park District manages these green spaces, which include not only traditional parks but also innovative
projects like the Wild Mile, where boardwalks wind through native wetland plants.
● Montreal (Canada) — Named after Mount Royal, a triple-peaked hill, this Canadian city balances city life with
nature. Mount Royal Park offers hiking and biking trails in summer, and cross-country skiing in winter, and is home
to over 180 bird species.
● Riga (Latvia) — According to satellite data, the city has 39 percent tree coverage. As part of its long-term
commitment under the EU’s “Green City Accord (协议)” through 2030, Riga has committed to protecting its parks
to fight the urban heat island effect. This phenomenon happens when concrete and tarmac in cities trap more heat
than the countryside, and Riga’s green spaces help cool things down.
7.What can we learn about Chicago’s Wild Mile?
A.It is the largest park in the city.
B.It floats on water as an eco-park.
C.It was built in the 18th century.
D.It has over 600 different parks within it.
8.What can visitors do in Mount Royal Park in Montreal?
A.Enjoy summer hiking and biking.
B.Feed various bird species.
C.Experience the urban heat island effect.
D.Wander boardwalks through native plants.
9.What do Bath and Riga have in common?
A.Both have parks with a long history.
B.Both are surrounded by countryside.
C.Both have long-term plans for green spaces.
D.Both use green spaces to connect different areas.

The Botanical Garden is a green heaven in the heart of Copenhagen, inviting you to immerse yourself in the
world of nature. The Botanical Garden was laid out in 1874 according to a garden plan by landscape gardener
H.A.Flindt. It was then renovated in 2012. This historic garden is part of the Natural History Museum Denmark
and stands out from other parks by serving as a living museum with research, popularization of science, teaching
and nature conservation as its main objectives.
Guided Tours
Experience the Botanical Garden on guided tours of Denmark’s largest scientific collection of plants from all
over the world. On the tours, you will visit the romantic garden as well as the greenhouses and the famous Victorian
Palm House. We will pass some of the garden’s species, which are either endangered or extinct in the wild. The
guided tours are organized according to the season and the weather of the day, and the themes follow the changing
of the seasons in the garden and can focus on a holiday or special events in the plant world. We also offer tours
especially for families with children.
Practical information
Meeting place: Entrance via the main entrance to the Botanical Garden near Nørreport Station (Gothersgade
126). We meet in front of the Botanical Garden’s shop. The ticket is presented on arrival, and the tours start on
time.
Accessibility: Wheelchair users, unfortunately, cannot take part in the tours in the Botanical Garden, as the
route goes via steep stairs in the listed Palm House and/or on the stone mounds in the garden.
Exchange and refund of tickets: Under normal circumstances, it is not possible to exchange or refund
tickets for the event. If the event is called off due to unforeseen circumstances like heavy rain, you will be notified
directly by email, and we will automatically refund the ticket price.
10.What is the main function of the Botanical Garden?
A.To attract tourists to Copenhagen.
B.To preserve historic garden designs.
C.To offer a place for public recreation.
D.To conduct research, teaching, and nature conservation.
11.What can be inferred from the text?
A.The Palm House is a protected historic building.
B.Wheelchair users can take part if they avoid the Palm House.
C.Families with children are advised to book the special tours.
D.Visitors can get a refund if they cancel due to bad weather.
12.In which section of a magazine is the text most probably taken from?

For animal lovers eager to contribute to wildlife conservation while travelling, the Endangered Elephant
Shelter in Thailand offers a meaningful volunteer program. This reserve cares for 24 Asian elephants, the majority
of which were rescued from elephant riding camps where they were cruelly used to entertain tourists. Unlike
unethical facilities, it is Asia’s first chain-free elephant reserve, providing 18 hectares of forests, lakes and grazing
(放牧) grounds for elephants to wander freely and enjoy their retirement as they deserve.
What will you be doing
Volunteers will engage in daily elephant care: cleaning enclosures and pools, harvesting food like banana
trees, creating enrichments and accompanying elephants to eat in forests. The workday runs from 6:30 to 17:00, six
days a week, with scheduled breaks.
Volunteers will also learn about the difficult situation of Thai Asian elephants — only 3,000–3,500 wild
individuals remain, and many captive ones suffer from tourism or street begging.
What is included
Program fees ($ 543 per week, 1–12 weeks available) cover accommodation, three daily meals, airport
collection, on-site support, Wi-Fi and group tours. Exclusions include flights, travel insurance and vaccines (疫苗).
What are free-time activities
Free-time activities range from temple visits and river swimming to exploring local markets in Cha-am and
Hua-Hin.
What are requirements
The program welcomes international volunteers with basic English or Thai skills, a passion for animal
welfare and the ability to tolerate Thailand’s hot, wet climate. You must be 18 years old or over.
28.What do we know about the elephants in the Endangered Elephant Shelter?
A.They are chained up at night.
B.They are approaching retirement.
C.They live a free and peaceful life.
D.They were all mistreated in the camps.
29.What are the volunteers expected to do at the shelter?
A.Raise money for the elephants.
B.Take elephants to forests for food.
C.Plant banana trees as elephant food.
D.Publicize the animals’ troubles to tourists.
30.Which of the following is required for joining the program?
A.Speaking both English and Thai.
B.Adapting to the tropical weather.
C.Having experience in animal care.
D.Serving the shelter at least 12 weeks.

EATON CANYON LAND RESTORATION
Thanks to a wonderful outpouring of interest, this opportunity is now full! Registered volunteers will be provided
with the parking, transfer buses and other details before the event. We aren’t able to accommodate any unregistered
volunteers.Why:
The Eaton Fire changed this canyon (峡谷) — and the community surrounding it — forever. But Eaton Canyon is
recovering. Native plants are returning, wildlife is coming back, and the land is showing signs of obvious recovery.
Now, the work is making sure that recovery holds: foreign plants threaten to outcompete the natives, and new trees
need to go in the ground to strengthen the ecosystem for decades to come.Who:
This event is presented by LA County Parks, in partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Service,
CalVolunteers, California Climate Action Corps and LA Works, and is the first official event of LA Climate
Week.What to Expect:
●The work takes place on flat rocky land, so wear appropriate shoes. It is predicted to be a warm day, so
please bring your water bottles; sunscreen is also advised.
●Tools will be provided.
●A T-shirt will be provided for you to wear.
●Lunch from Fair Oaks Burger will be served for all participants.
●The site and restrooms are accessible. What’s Required:
Eaton Canyon remains closed to the general public during the ongoing restoration. Access on April 8 is
limited to approved, registered volunteers ONLY. Please do not visit the Canyon without prior registration and
confirmation.
31.What is the aim of Eaton Canyon Land Restoration?
A.To sustain the recovered ecosystem.
B.To return native plants and wildlife.
C.To change Eaton Canyon land forever.
D.To plant new trees for the following decades.
32.How many organizations cooperate with LA County Parks?
A.3.
B.4.
C.5.
D.6.
33.What do we know about the restoration?
A.Tourists are admitted.
