I grew tired of backpackers expressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them. Globe-traveling to me held no more promise than finding a few bills in the pocket of an old coat. I needed something deeper than an Eat, Play, Love moment. One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade-old promise: after our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens. Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise. I finally boarded the plane. Vasilis picked me up at the airport. I smiled, thinking how improbable this moment seemed all those years ago. The decade-long wait proved to be well worth it. Every step through the ancient streets revealed new wonders. However, none of them truly mattered. What would forever alter my perception of travel was a chanceencounter with a local. Vasilis and I were wandering Athens when a special sound caught our attention — a rhythmic clinking disturbing the quietness of the residential street. Curiously, we followed the sound to a humble workshop. Inside, a welder (焊工) gave no mind to our presence behind him. He wore no flashy protective suit — this was just another day for him, another dance with fire and metal that had become second nature. Under the sunshade, his orange cat rested in the comforting warmth... As the man continued welding, I felt a bit of envy. I envied his peace and contentment. I admired the simplicity he embodied. I imagined the welder happy, finding fulfillment in his craft (手艺) and returning to his loving family...The moment moved me to tears. Leaving the workshop, rain blending with tears, I realized how easily life’s poetry could pass unnoticed. Home again in Montreal, I stop simply pursuing better things, better experiences and better people that are never grasped. I realize the real journey is inward — to appreciate life’s ordinary magic. That sure beats petting any baby elephant. I may not have returned home “transformed,” but I’ll always think of the welder and his cat. 4.Which aspect of travelling makes the author feel uneasy? A.Shortage of adequate funds. B.Discomfort in dietary habits. C.Overstatement of travel’s effects. D.Danger of petting baby animals. 5.What drove the author to go to Athens? A.Meeting a commitment. B.Exploring a unique landscape. C.Receiving further education. D.Escaping from the current life. 6.What does the underlined word “poetry” in paragraph 6 probably refer to? A.Poems written by masters. B.Peace and simplicity. C.Spirit of craftsmanship. D.Special sound in the street. 7.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? A.Friendship Lasts Forever B.Travelling Shapes a Better Self C.Pursuit of Happiness Never Stops D.The Ordinary Makes Extraordinary 【答案】4.C 5.A 6.B 7.D 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。 由文章第一段中“Travelling seemed like falsehood to me. I grew tired of backpackersexpressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them.(对我来说,旅行 似乎是骗人的。我已经厌倦了背包客们对在泰国抚摸小象如何“改变”了他们的赞不绝口。)”可知,旅行 影响的过度陈述让作者感到不安,觉得是骗人的。故选C。 5.细节理解题。由文章第二段中“One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade-old promise: after our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens. Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise.(有一天,我最好的希腊朋友瓦西里斯让我想起了我们十年前的约定:期末考试结束后,我要去他 的家乡雅典。也许,是时候兑现这个承诺了。)”可知,为了兑现履行承诺,作者去了雅典。故选A。 6. 由文章倒数第二段“As the man continued welding, I felt a bit of envy. I envied his peace and contentment. I admired the simplicity he embodied. I imagined the welder happy, finding fulfillment in his craft (手 艺) and returning to his loving family...The moment moved me to tears. Leaving the workshop, rain blending with tears, I realized how easily life’s poetry could pass unnoticed.(当那个人继续焊接时,我感到有点嫉妒。 通读全文,尤其是由文章最后一段“Home again in Montreal, I stop simply pursuing better things, better experiences and better people that are never grasped. I realize the real journey is inward — to appreciate life’s ordinary magic. That sure beats petting any baby elephant. I may not have returned home “transformed,” but I’ll always think of the welder and his cat.(回到蒙特利尔的家,我不再简单地追求更好的事 物、更好的经历和更好的人,而这些都是永远无法抓住的。 C (2024·陕西榆林·一模)Robins (知更鸟) are considered as a symbol of the festive season and are known for their lively, curious nature around humans. But even robins get road rage because they can become aggressive when there’s noise, a new study shows. Researchers from the UK found that the sound of traffic made rural robins — not urban robins — “more aggressive”. The study was conducted by experts at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Human activity has acolossal effect on wildlife, including on their social behavior,” the team said in their paper. For their study, the team investigated the behavior of male European robins living in urban parks and rural forests in Istanbul. They measured aggression towards another robin intruder, which wasn’t a real robin but instead a model in the shape of an adult bird. The fake robin was equipped with a speaker, through which the team could play audio, and then attached to trees at the parks and forests. The audio consisted of recordings of robin songs, while additional traffic noise was added through another separate speaker nearby. After recording the birds’ behavior during interactions with the fake intruder, they found the urban robins typically displayed more physical aggression than rural robins. However, rural robins became more aggressive with the addition of traffic noise — possibly because they’re less used to traffic noise than urban birds, which are already living in noisier habitats. What’s more, physical displays of territoriality could increase because the traffic noise interferes with their birdsong. “In normally quiet surroundings, we found that additional traffic noise leads to rural robins becoming more aggressive,” said Dr Caglar Akcay at ARU. “We believe this is because the noise is interfering with their communication.” Overall, by comparing urban and rural robin reactions, the study provides a valuable glimpse into how urban-living species adapt to “life in a noisy world”. “Our results show that human-produced noise can have a range of effects on robins, depending on the habitat they live in,” said Dr Akcay. 8.What can we learn about the robins according to the text? A.They like larger habitats. B.They cannot stand other intruders. C.They prefer villages to urban areas. D.They can remind people of joyous seasons. 9.What does the underlined word “colossal” in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Positive. B.Mutual. C.Weak. D.Dramatic. 10.Why did the rural robins become more aggressive when facing traffic noise? A.It affected their communication. B.It severely damaged their hearing. C.It prevented them from finding food. D.It made it hard for them to return to their habitats. 11.What is the purpose of this text? A.To persuade people to protect the robins.B.To compare the differences between robins. C.To show man-made noise’s effect on robins. D.To prove that human and birds are connected. 根据文章第一段“Robins (知更鸟) are considered as a symbol of the festive season and are known for their lively, curious nature around humans.(知更鸟被认为是欢乐季节的象征,并以其活泼、好奇的 本性而闻名)”可知,知更鸟的出现提醒着人们欢乐季节的到来。故选D。 9. 根据划线词上文“Researchers from the UK found that the sound of traffic made rural robins — not urban robins — “more aggressive”. 根据第四段““In normally quiet surroundings, we found that additional traffic noise leads to rural robins becoming more aggressive,” said Dr Caglar Akcay at ARU. “We believe this is because the noise is interfering with their communication.”(“在通常安静的环境中,我们发现额外的交通噪音会导致农村知更鸟变 得更具攻击性,”ARU的Caglar Akcay博士说。“我们认为,这是因为噪音干扰了他们的交流)”可知,农 村的知更鸟变得更具攻击性是因为噪音干扰了他们的交流。故选A。 11. 根据最后一段“Overall, by comparing urban and rural robin reactions, the study provides a valuable glimpse into how urban-living species adapt to “life in a noisy world”. “Our results show that human- produced noise can have a range of effects on robins, depending on the habitat they live in,” said Dr Akcay.(总的来 说,通过比较城市和农村知更鸟的反应,这项研究为城市生活的物种如何适应“嘈杂世界中的生活”提供 了一个有价值的一瞥。“我们的研究结果表明,人类产生的噪音会对知更鸟产生一系列的影响,这取决于 它们生活的栖息地,”Akcay博士说)”可推知,这篇文章的目的是展示人造噪音对知更鸟的影响。故选 C。 D (2024·湖北武汉·模拟预测)Late last year, in the days before the Dosakian election, a video featuring a well-known journalist and a key candidate circulated on social networks. However, it was absolutely fake (虚假的). The International Press Institute has called this episode in Dosakia the first time that AI deepfakes — fake images, or videos generated by artificial intelligence — have influenced a national election greatly. Security experts consider misinformation the biggest global risk recently — more dangerous than war, andextreme weather events. A constant stream of people is wrestling with this issue. Now even economists are joining in. Economist Iyan Smith, and others conduct a real-world experiment to see whether simple, low-cost nudges, or interventions, can be effective. Instead of focusing on the supply side of misinformation like social media platforms, they pay attention to the demand side: increasing our capacity to identify the fake information. The economists split participants randomly into four different groups. One group was shown a video demonstrating a convincing journey of two people from two different social groups who, before interacting, express negative stereotypes (刻板印象) about the other’s group, overcoming their differences and ultimately regretting unthinkingly using stereotypes to dehumanize one another. Another group completed a personality test that shows them their cognitive traits (认知特点) causing prejudice, hoping to increase their self-awareness, and decrease their demand for misinformation. A third group did both while a control group did neither. The economists find the simple intervention of showing the video makes the participants over 30 percent less likely to “consider fake news reliable”. But the personality test has little effect. As for participants doing both, they were about 31 percent less likely to view true headlines as reliable. In other words, they became so skeptical that even the truth became suspect. Smith and his colleagues are far from the first scholars to fight misinformation by helping people to think more critically. University of Weymouth psychologist Lisa Kindle also advocates similar ways to help reject misinformation in the wild. 12.What does the author intend to do in the first two paragraphs? A.Highlight the risk of AI deepfakes. B.Discuss the global threat landscape. C.Describe Dosakia’s election outcome. D.Introduce the concept of misinformation. 13.What is “an effective nudge” in Smith’s new study? A.The cognitive trait. B.The short video. C.The personality test. D.The negative stereotype. 14.What conclusion can be drawn from the study? A.Videos reduce misinformation. B.Deepfakes may discredit truth. C.Misinformation causes dehumanization. D.Personality tests sharpen thinking skills. 15.What might be the best title for the text? A.Battling Fake News B.Deepfakes in Elections C.The Spread of Misinformation D.Expanding Thinking Capacity【答案】12.A 13.B 14.B 15.A 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 根据第一段“Late last year, in the days before the Dosakian election, a video featuring a well- known journalist and a key candidate circulated on social networks. However, it was absolutely fake (虚假的). The International Press Institute has called this episode in Dosakia the first time that AI deepfakes—fake images, or videos generated by artificial intelligence—have influenced a national election greatly.(去年年底,在多萨奇选举 的前几天,社交网络上流传着一段视频,视频中有一位知名记者和一位关键候选人。然而,这绝对是假的。 国际新闻研究所称,Dosakia的这一事件是人工智能深度造假(由人工智能生成的虚假图像或视频)首次 对全国大选产生巨大影响)”以及第二段“Security experts consider misinformation the biggest global risk recently—more dangerous than war, and extreme weather events. A constant stream of people is wrestling with this issue. Now even economists are joining in.(安全专家认为,错误信息是最近最大的全球风险——比战争和极 端天气事件更危险。不断有许多人在努力解决这个问题。现在,就连经济学家也加入了进来)”可知,作者 在前两段想强调人工智能深度造假的风险。故选A。 13. 根据第三段“Economist Iyan Smith, and others conduct a real-world experiment to see whether simple, low-cost nudges, or interventions, can be effective. Instead of focusing on the supply side of misinformation like social media platforms, they pay attention to the demand side: increasing our capacity to identify the fake information.(经济学家伊安·史密斯等人进行了一项现实世界的实验,看看简单、低成本的推 动或干预是否有效。他们没有像社交媒体平台那样关注错误信息的供给方,而是关注需求方:提高我们识 别虚假信息的能力)”可知,在史密斯的新研究中,短视频是“有效的推动”。故选B。 14.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“As for participants doing both, they were about 31 percent less likely to view true headlines as reliable. In other words, they became so skeptical that even the truth became suspect.(对于 两者都做的参与者来说,他们认为真实标题可靠的可能性要低31%。换句话说,他们变得如此怀疑,甚至 真相也变得可疑)”可知,深度造假可能会使真相不受信任。故选B。 15.主旨大意题。根据第一段“Late last year, in the days before the Dosakian election, a video featuring a well- known journalist and a key candidate circulated on social networks. However, it was absolutely fake (虚假的). Here are some strategies to help you become emotionally mature! You cannot change others. Everyone else is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. It is completely normal. Keeping that in mind, it is better if you understand that you cannot change others, no matter how hard you try. Even if you try changing others and their feelings, you will only be hurting yourself in the process. 16 People interact with us like we are mind readers sometimes. 17 This can be extremely painful. You need to communicate your needs to the other person, and they need to do the same with you. Never rely on expectations, which will only make you feel disappointed. Share your needs with your loved ones and see the positive changes. So communicate your needs. It is necessary to take responsibility for your actions. Just like your words, you need to take full responsibility for your actions. Many people make silly excuses and don’t take responsibility for their actions. That is where they hurt others and themselves. 18 It won’t bring your self-respect down, and it will actually raise you as a person. 19 So it is wise to avoid negative people. If you are surrounded by negative people that only bring others down, then you will always feel uncomfortable. If you are surrounded by happy people, you will always be delighted. Keep away from people who emotionally control others. 20 In order to be emotionally intelligent, you must have a supporting partner by your side. A.You need to mind whatever you do. B.You are known by the company you keep. C.Just as you try to be a mind reader, others expect so. D.The best course of action would be to change yourself. E.Whenever you feel something like that, cut ties with them. F.Your partner would want you to know exactly what they want. G.If you make a mistake and affect others negatively, apologize immediately. 【答案】16.D 17.F 18.G 19.B 20.E 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一些可以帮助提高情商并在情感上变得成熟的策略。16.根据本段主题句“You cannot change others.(你不能改变其他人。)”可知,本段主张不能企图改变别人, 因为每个人都有权拥有自己的信仰和观点,试图改变别人的过程中有可能会伤害到自己,因此最好的做法 是改变自己。D项:The best course of action would be to change yourself.(最好的做法是改变自己。)符合语 境。故选D。 17.根据上文“People interact with us like we are mind readers sometimes.( 有时候人们和我们的互动就像我 们会读心术一样。)”及下文“This can be extremely painful.(这有时候是非常痛苦的。)”可知,人与人之间互 动时总有人期待对方能有读心术,但是这是非常痛苦的;空处应承接上文,对上文作进一步阐述,即你的 伙伴想让你确切地知道他们想要什么。F项:Your partner would want you to know exactly what they want.(你 的伴侣想让你确切地知道他们想要什么。)符合语境。故选F。 18.根据本段主题句“It is necessary to take responsibility for your actions.( 对你的行为负责是必要的。)”可 知,本段主张要对自己的行为负责。上文“Many people make silly excuses and don’t take responsibility for their actions. That is where they hurt others and themselves.(许多人会找一些愚蠢的借口,不为自己的行为负责。 这就是他们伤害别人和自己的地方。)”提到不负责的行为害人害己,下文“It won’t bring your self-respect down, and it will actually raise you as a person.(它不会降低你的自尊,反而会提升你的人格。)”中的“it”指代 对自己行为负责的正确做法,即如果你给别人带来负面影响,立即道歉。G项:If you make a mistake and affect others negatively, apologize immediately.(如果你犯了错误,给别人带来了负面影响,立即道歉。)符合 语境。故选G。 19.根据下文“So it is wise to avoid negative people. If you are surrounded by negative people... If you are surrounded by happy people, you will always be delighted.”(所以避开消极的人是明智的。如果你周围都是消极 的人,只会让别人失望,那么你会一直感到不舒服。如果你周围都是快乐的人,你就会永远快乐。)”可知, 本段强调周围同伴的重要性及其影响,即观其友,知其人。B项:You are known by the company you keep. 20.根据上文“Keep away from people who emotionally control others.(远离那些在情感上控制别人的人。)可 知,空处应承接上文,进一步说明要远离那些在情感上控制别人的人。E项可以承接上文,表示要立刻与 在情感上控制自己的人切断关系。E项:Whenever you feel something like that, cut ties with them.(每当你有 这样的感觉,就和他们断绝关系。)符合语境。故选E。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 (2024·广东深圳·三模)It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. My husband was taking care of our baby girl sothat my six-year-old son and I could do some yard work, just the two of us. It was sure to be 21 . But soon, the clouds of mosquitos seemed 22 to our bug spray (喷雾). I was sweating, itchy, and arguing with my son about how to pull weeds. I had told him the “right” way — getting those weeds out from the bottom, by the roots, 23 them entirely. However, my son went about things in his own way. He pulled the 24 of the weeds off, moving quickly down the line as he left the remaining part still in the soil. Somehow, I found this to be incredibly 25 . Why couldn’t he do it in my way and save me the time of having to 26 his portion (部分)? Why did he do it at all if he wasn’t going to do it properly? “If you do as told, we’d be done earlier and 27 a longer period before we would have to return and pull weeds next time,” I said, trying to keep my tone 28 . Not a day went by that I didn’t think about Dad and how much I missed him. The van stopped at the edge of the baseball field. “Hey, buddy, have fun at practice. And don’t forget about your sister’s recital (表演) tonight,” said my stepfather as I climbed out. Zoe is not my sister, and you can’t tell me what to do, I grumbled (嘟囔) to myself. A bunch of guys from the team waved from the dugout. I jogged over half-heartedly. “Why do you look so unhappy?” David asked. “I have to go to my stepsister’s dance recital,” I sighed. “It could be worse,” David replied. I shot him an I-highly-doubt-that expression. “What if you had to perform in it?” Kevin said as he leaped and twirled (旋转) like a rodeo bull. I tried not to smile. The truth was that I had a lot of mixed-up feelings since Mom remarried a few months ago. I had always loved baseball, but even that felt different lately. I could barely concentrate. After practice, David and I sat together waiting for our ride. “I wish things didn’t have to change,” I said, “you know, for my mom and me.” “I have a stepmother and stepbrother too,” David said as if it were no big deal. “Seriously?” I hadn’t realized that, so I asked. David shrugged, “They’re just Mom and Dennis now. Give it a chance.” I let out a breath, still unsure about the recital tonight. Still unsure about everything! Back home, I found Zoe in her costume, but something was wrong. Her arms were folded tight across her chest, and her eyes were glossed with tears. “What’s wrong, Zoe?” I asked. “Opening night jitters (战战兢兢),” mystepfather said. “She doesn’t want to be in the recital,” Mom said. Huh. This should have been the best thing that could have happened — the possibility of not having to go to the performance. But somehow it wasn’t. Zoe had practiced so hard. And she’d reminded me at least a thousand times where she would be onstage. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Thinking of Kevin’s funny dance, I had an idea. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ After Zoe disappeared into dancers backstage, we found our seats. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Thinking of Kevin’s funny dance, I had an idea. “Zoe,” I said, “Remember, you’ve worked so hard for this. The stage is waiting for you to show them all what you can do. And I’ll be there in the audience, cheering for you every step of the way.” Zoe looked up at me, her eyes still glassy but a small spark of determination beginning to shine. We walked together to the van. As we drove to the recital, I could see Zoe gradually becoming more and more relaxed. After Zoe disappeared into dancers backstage, we found our seats. I knew Zoe was counting on me to be there for her, even if I didn’t feel like it at first. After the recital began, I spotted her. She was in the middle of the group, her face bright with a smile that rivaled the stage lights. As she moved gracefully through the routine, I couldn’t help but feel proud of her. I realized that I had been selfish for not wanting to come. 词汇激活 行为类 ①加油:cheer for sb./cheer sb. on ②开车去:drive to sp./go to sp. in a car ③完成动作:move through the routine/complete the routine 情绪类 ①放松的:relaxed/eased ②骄傲:feel proud of/take pride in 【点睛】[高分句型1] As we drove to the recital, I could see Zoe gradually becoming more and more relaxed.
