Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden (上海辰山植物园) has nearly 15,000 different
kinds of plants. It’s a great place for you to enjoy nature. Come and visit some of its most special
themed areas(主题区)!
The Quarry Garden (矿坑花园) was built on a100-year-old quarry. The designers added a
waterfall, boardwalks(木板路) and different plants to the natural quarry. This beautiful area will
make you think of traditional Chinese ink paintings.
Kids can learn a lot while playing in the Children's Garden. The tree houses and
suspension bridges(吊桥) there can guide them through all kinds of plants. Each type of plant has
a sign with its introduction. Parents can teach their kids without difficulty. In the Blind’s Garden,
the designers specially planted many fragrant and differently shaped plants. Visitors with sight
problems can enjoy the smell of the garden’s sweet flowers. They can also touch and feel the
leaves, branches, fruits and trunks of different plants.

D. Listen to the conversation and fill in the blanks (根据你听到的内容,完成下列短
文,每空格限填一词): (共10分)
In a recent radio program, the hostess was talking about comic books. Sue Wunder, the
author of the article, phoned in.
H: Oh, somebody is calling in. Hello? Who am I talking to?
S: This is Sue Wunder.
H: Hello, Sue.
S: Hi! I’m a big fan of comic books, so I thought I’d like to join in on the conversation.
H: Ha ha, I’m glad to have you onboard.
S: I still read comic books every day, though I'm already in my late sixties.
H: So why are you still so interested in comic books?
S: Well, without comic books, my life would have been completely different. It was these books
that set me on the road to reading.
H: Ahhh.
S: The pictures and word balloons were very attractive to me. Through reading comics, I learned
many things ... word play, jokes, you name it. Most importantly, I fell in love with reading and
with literature. Comic books were so great that when I was a kid, I simply couldn’t put them
down. They drove me to go on to read the original novels. You know, many kids hate reading.
But thanks to comics, I have never found reading to be boring.教育资源分享店铺 网址:https://shop175591889.taobao.com 微信号:kingcsa333
H: So do you suggest all kids start reading with comics?
S: Uhh ... some of my childhood friends were discouraged from reading comics by their parents.
Even so, they still ended up falling in love with reading. So I think comics are not the only
way to get kids reading. In my case, though, they did play a very important role.
