“I'm looking for a few day's work.” said the carpenter. “Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and

arms: "You are quite a fellow to build this bridge after all I've said and done".

How many things can you see in the night sky? A lot! On a clear night you might see the moon, some planets,
and thousands of shining stars. You can see even more with a telescope(望远镜)。But scientists believe there are somethings in the sky that we will never see. We won't see them with the
biggest telescope in the world, on the clearest night of the year. They're dead stars called black holes.
You might find it hard to imagine that stars die. After all, our Sun is a star. Year after year we see it up in the
sky, burning, brightly, giving us heat and light. The Sun certainly doesn't seem to be getting old or weak. But stars
do burn out and die after billions of years.
As a star's gases burn, they give off light and heat. But when the gas runs out, the star stops burning and begins
to die.
As the star cools, the outer parts of the star pull in toward the center. The star squashes(拼压)into a smaller
and smaller ball. If the star was very small, it ends up as a cold, dark ball. If the star was very big, it keeps
squashing inward until it's packed together tighter than anything in the universe.
Imagine if the Earth were crushed until it was the size of a tiny stone. That's how tightly this dead star, a black
hole, is packed. What pulls the star in toward its center with such power? It's the same force that pulls you down
when you jump the force called gravity(引力). A black hole is so tightly packed that its gravity pulls in everything
even light. The light from a black hole can never come back to your eyes. That's why you see nothing but
blackness.
So the next time you stare up at the night sky, remember. There's more in the sky than meets the eye!

1.减少工厂排污;

Some big cities in China are facing the serious problem of air pollution. Effective Ways to Prevent Air
Pollution Some big cities in China are facing the serious problem of air pollution. In order to improve the air in
those cities, we should take effective measures to give people fresh air to breathe.
First of all, some factories are pouring a lot of waste water into rivers, which causes not only water polluted
but also air quality worsen. In some area you can even smell stinky odor. As for this, these factories should reduce
the waste water pouring by improving the production technology or by purifying wasted water to a certain standard.
Secondly, the number of cars in the street is increasing day by day, which is one of the main factors that lead toair pollution. As a citizen in a big city, one should go out by buses or by bike if bot too far. Less driving cars, more
fresh air.
Thirdly, planting trees is a good way to protect environment because trees give us much clear air. If you stand
by trees you will feel it comfortable to breath. Let's plant more trees on the mountains or around us for our
generation and next.
All in all, the air pollution must be controlled and the air quality should be improved. I hope those mentioned
above can be effective ways, and we should do what we can do to protect our environment.
