People, especially children, like comic strips(连环漫画)in newspapers and magazines. Who is your
favorite superhero? Spiderman? Wonder Woman? These heroes have been around for a long time. But comics came
out even earlier. In ancient times, people made funny drawings of animals on paper.
Modern comic strips came out during the 1800s and their style has remained much the same. These comics are
drawn in connected boxes. The boxes usually show an interesting story. Some comic strips are printed in
newspapers. They often continue from day to day. Some people even read the comics before they read the front
page.
Comic books first appeared during the 1930s. It seemed that everyone wanted to read them. People loved
reading about the adventures(冒险)of the Man of Steel and Batman. During the 1940s, the world was at war andsome comic book characters, such as Captain America, reflected the times. Others, such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy
Duck, made people laugh during this terrible time in history.
After the war, people became less interested in old comic book characters, so new superheroes had to be made.
The new superheroes, such as Fantastic Four, X-Men and Spiderman, talked and acted more like real people. As
time went on, comic books had to compete with TV because TV was offering people a lot of interesting things to
watch instead.

world. In this world, the hero always wins, and failure only comes to the bad guys.

Imagine someone who lives in Atlanta needs to travel to Washington, D.C.for business. This is about a 10-
hour drive. A flight takes about two hours. Add to that the drive to the airport, checking in and waiting at the gate.
After arriving in D.C., it may take another 30 minutes to pick up your luggage and find a car — and even more
time to drive to the destination (目的地). The total travel time could be four to five hours. That’s why most people
would choose to fly instead of driving themselves.
However, if they could have a driverless car take them there, the choice may be different. Passengers could
eat, drink, work and sleep during the 10-hour drive. They could leave whenever they want, and pack whatever they
want. When they get to D.C., they don’t have to find a rental car and drive to the place by themselves. And
imagine the driverless car even has a bed. So, what would you choose?
As we all know, people love how quickly flights can be but hate the security checks, delays (延迟) and the risk
of losing baggage. Most people don’t like to ride in driverless cars at the moment. However, it’s said that as people
learn about the advantages of driverless cars, they will become more accepting of the new technology. Over time,
people will feel comfortable using self-driving cars.
In our study, we showed people trips of different lengths (长度) and asked them to choose whether they would
rather drive themselves, take a flight, or ride in a self-driving car. On short trips, with a five-hour drive, two-thirds
of people would rather drive themselves. As trips got longer, people preferred flying, but self-driving cars were still
a competing choice. On the longest trips, with a 45-hour drive, only about 10% of the people preferred driving
themselves but that changed to one sixth when they had a driverless car.
So, in the future, driverless cars will be popular with people, while the future of aviation (航空) is in danger.31.The passage begins with ________.
A.a plan B.an example C.an opinion
32.People choose driverless cars instead of planes because driverless cars could ________.
A.save more time B.save more money C.make people more comfortable
33.People choose their travel ways depending on ________.
A.how many people would go with them
B.whether they will travel on the way
C.the length of the trip
34.What can we learn from the study?
A.Most people would rather drive themselves for short trips.
B.For a trip that requires a 45-hour drive, few people prefer flying.
C.The longer the trip is, the more likely people choose driverless cars.
35.How does the writer feel about the future of aviation?
A.Worried. B.Excited. C.Disappointed.

【答案】
例文:
Some students now have a new use for the Internet—use mobile phones to find out the answers to their
homework. But different people have different ideas about it. Some students say (think) that they have so much
homework every day that they don’t have enough time. And some of the problems are too hard for them to work
out. So they have to use mobile phones to find out the answers.
However, I think copying the answers can’t improve the students’ abilities, and may make them stop thinking.
In my opinion, we can make proper use of the Internet and can’t depend on it. Studying online can be a way to help
study, but the best way is studying (to study) by ourselves.
