The boy, Peter, puts on his snowsuit and heads out into the beautiful snow. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. It is full of fun. Peter takes some snow home with him in his pocket only to find that it melted while he was taking a bath. Oh no! Is that the last of snow? Not to worry, the snow is waiting for Peter in the morning. How to Catch a Yeti (雪人) by Adam Wallace In this silly snowy adventure, the kids set a whole bunch of clever traps to catch a yeti. However, the yeti easily escapes and the traps backfire on the kids with funny results. If you look closely at the illustrations, you can find “hidden” members of the yeti’s family watching the kids. Winter Dance by Marion Dane Bauer This is a sweet story that teaches kids about how animals spend the winter. As the first snowflake falls on the fox’s nose, fox wonders what he is supposed to do in winter. The other forest animals tell him how they prepare for 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002winter. Some fly south, others store food, and some hibernate (冬眠) . Unfortunately none of these ideas will work for fox. Finally, another fox comes along and shares what foxes do in winter— they dance in the falling snow! Bear is Awake: an Alphabet Story by Hannah E. Harrison With hardly any words, the reader pieces the story together from the fantastic illustrations and the alphabet letter and corresponding word on each page. In this book, a bear awakens too early (A=awake) and sets off in search of food. It finds a little girl in a cabin, who, through a series of humorous events, helps the bear return to its home and go back to sleep. 21.In which book is the leading character Peter? A.The Snowy Day. B.How to Catch a Yeti. C.Winter Dance. D.Bear is Awake: an Alphabet Story. 22.What’s the book Winter Dance about? A.The joy of playing in the snow. B.The way animals spend the winter. C.The story of animals hibernating. D.A bear in search of food. 23.Who wrote the book with hardly any words? A.Ezra Jack Keats. B.Adam Wallace. C.Marion Dane Bauer. D.Hannah E. Harrison. B In 1986, I watched my first soccer match on my parents’ big box television. I was six, and ever since then, I have dreamed of attending the World Cup. This year, I traveled to Brazil to make my dream a reality. The first match I attended was between Australia and Spain. Within minutes of walking into the stadium, I found myself surrounded by the excited fans, talking and cheering together. Unlike what one normally sees on the news, this match was mainly peaceful except for one fight. When the fight started, the whole section began chanting(呼喊)with one voice, asking those fighting to stop. When they didn’t, the rabble-rousers were sent out by security guards minutes later. 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002What struck me about the games I attended was the sense of camaraderie. I met soccer fans from different countries. Sometimes we were cheering for the same team and sometimes for opposite teams, but that didn’t stop us from becoming friends. The stands were not divided between teams, and the interaction was often spirit-lifting. I also watched the game in Sao Paulo that ousted(淘汰)Brazil from the World Cup. I was with friends at a large bar which hosted a mix of Brazilian and German supporters. As Germany scored one goal after another, the sadness and even tears were visible on the faces of Brazilians. But German fans came to the Brazilians to comfort them and apologize that the game was ending with such a big gap. Everyone was hoping for a good match. What I love about the World Cup is that it provides a chance for people to learn about other countries and cultures. People learn about the countries of the teams they support and about their opponents’ history and culture. Soccer is a game that not only gives people the chance to learn about each other but also has the potential to unite people. Sports can be a dividing force, but the true spirit of sports is about unity and fun. The matches at this World Cup have been exactly that so far, and I hope it remains so. 24.What does the underlined word “rabble-rousers” in paragraph 2 refer to? A.The injured players. B.The fighting fans. C.The excited viewers. D.The security guards. 25.What impressed the author most about the games that he attended? A.The chanting fans. B.The peaceful atmosphere. C.The warm friendship. D.The players’ performance. 26.Why did the author mention his bar experience? A.To present a fact. B.To illustrate a point. C.To solve a problem. D.To make a comparison. 27.What is mainly conveyed in the passage? A.Fans’ support counts in sports. B.The World Cup is worth attending. 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002C.Sports bring the world together. D.Sports are about cultural exchange. C Everybody loves a fat pay rise. Yet pleasure at your own can disappear if you learn that a colleague has been given a bigger one. Indeed, if he has a reputation for being lazy, you might even be shocked and angry. Such behaviour is regarded as “all too human”, with the assumption that other animals would not be capable of this finely developed sense of grievance (不满). But a study by Sarah Brosnan and Frans de Waal of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, which has just been published in Nature, suggests that it is all too monkey, as well. The researchers studied the behaviour of female brown capuchin monkeys (僧帽猴). They look cute. They are good-natured, co-operative creatures, and they share their food readily. Above all, they tend to pay much closer attention to the value of “goods and services” than males. Such characteristics make them perfect candidates for Dr. Brosnan’s and Dr. de Waal’s study. The researchers spent two years teaching their monkeys to exchange token (代币) for food. Normally, the monkeys were happy enough to exchange pieces of rock for slices of cucumber. However, when two monkeys were placed in separate but neighboring rooms, so that each could observe what the other was getting in return for its rock, their behaviour became obviously different. In the world of capuchins, grapes are luxury goods (and much preferable to cucumbers). So when one monkey was handed a grape in exchange for her token, the second was reluctant to hand hers over for a mere piece of cucumber. And if one received a grape without having to provide her token in exchange at all, the other either threw her own token at the researcher or out of the chamber, or refused to accept the slice of cucumber. Indeed, the mere presence of a grape in the other chamber (without an actual monkey to eat it) was enough to lead to resentment (抱怨) in a female capuchin. The researchers suggest that capuchin monkeys, like humans, are guided by social emotions. In the wild, they are a co-operative, group-living species. Such co-operation is likely to be stable only when each animal feels it is not being cheated. Feelings of righteous indignation (义愤感), it seems, are not the preserve of people alone. Refusing a lesser reward completely makes these feelings abundantly clear to other members of the group. However, whether such a sense of fairness evolved independently in capuchins and humans, or whether it originates from the common ancestor that the species had 35 million years ago, is, as yet, an unanswered question. 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx00228.In the first paragraph, how does the author introduce his topic? A.By posing a question. B.By explaining an assumption. C.By explaining a definition. D.By making a comparison. 29.What does the underlined statement “it is all too monkey” mean in the first paragraph? A.Disliking unfairness is also monkeys’ nature. B.Monkeys have a reputation for laziness. C.Monkeys, like humans, tend to be jealous of each other. D.No animals other than monkeys can develop such emotions. 30.Dr. Brosnan and Dr. de Waal have eventually found in their study that the monkeys ________. A.prefer grapes to cucumbers B.will not be co-operative if feeling cheated C.can be taught to exchange things D.are unhappy when separated from others 31.What can we infer from the last paragraph? A.Animals can be trained to develop social emotions. B.Animals seldom show their feelings openly as humans do. C.Human anger evolved from an uncertain source. D.Cooperation among monkeys remains stable only in the wild. D While teenagers who are at risk of depression with risky behaviors — drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and cutting classes often alert parents and teachers that serious problems are brewing, a new study finds that there’s another group of adolescents who are in nearly as much danger of experiencing the same mental symptoms. 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002These teens use tons of media, get insufficient sleep and have a sedentary (不爱活动的) lifestyle. Of course, that may sound like a description of every teenager on the planet. But the study wars that it is teenagers who engage in all three of these practices in the extreme that are truly in a dangerous position. Because their behaviors are not usually seen as a red flag, these young people have been called the “invisible risk” group by the study’s authors. The study’s authors surveyed 15,395 students and analyzed nine risk behaviors, including excessive alcohol use, illegal drug use, heavy smoking and high media use. Their aim was to determine the relationship between these risk behaviors and mental health issues in teenagers. The group that scored high on all nine of the risk behaviors was most likely to show symptoms of depression; in all, nearly 15% of this group reported being depressed, compared with just 4% of the low-risk group. But the invisible group wasn’t far behind the high-risk set, with more than 13% of them exhibiting depression. The findings caught Carli off guard. “We didn’t expect that,” he says. “The high-risk group and low-risk group are obvious, but this third group was not only unexpected. It was so distinct and so larger — nearly one third of our sample — that it became a key finding of the study.” Carli says that one of the most significant things about his study is that it provides new early warning signs for parents, teachers and mental health-care providers. And early identifications, support and treatment for mental health issues, he says, are the best ways to keep them from turning into full-blown disorders. 32.Which teenager probably belongs to the “invisible group”? A.A teenager who drinks frequently. B.A teenager who exercises regularly. C.A teenager who skips school. D.A teenager who suffers from a lack of sleep. 33.What can we know about the new study? A.It was conducted by analyzing and comparing the previous data. B.It was intended to dig into the reasons for depression. C.It revealed an alarming rate of the invisible group suffering depression. D.Its findings were under expectation of the research team. 34.What is Carli’s attitude toward the findings? 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002A.Unclear. B.Positive. C.Doubtful. D.Indifferent. 35.The author wrote this passage to ______. A.introduce a new therapy for teens’ mental disorder B.war about the unobserved signals for teens’ mental problems C.share a novel psychological experiment with teens D.caution teens against developing unhealthy habits 第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Why Cooking Meals at Home Benefits More Than Just Your Wallet When hunger strikes, the convenience of entering a fast-food restaurant or ordering takeout can be terribly attractive. 36 However, when it becomes a routine, your waistline, your wallet and your health can be badly affected. Here are four reasons to make cooking at home your option. · It’s cheaper. You could spend $100 at a fancy restaurant for one dinner, while the same amount of money could buy you groceries for a week. When you shop smart and get creative, you needn’t spend more than $1 on breakfast, $2 on lunch and $4 on dinner to purchase wholesome, healthy foods. Here’s how: 37 · It may reduce your exposure to certain chemicals. The most surprising benefit of cooking at home can decrease the amount of harmful chemicals you’re exposed to. 38 Common in takeout and fast-food packaging, those chemicals have been associated with many diseases. Food packaging can also contain other damaging compounds (化合物). ·You can better estimate calories. 39 That is why people tend to consume extra calories when dining away from home. On the contrary, you have complete control over the food materials when you cook in your own kitchen. Choosing fiber-packed 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002vegetables and meat containing less fat will help keep your calories under control. So will the way you cook your food. Rather than frying, choose roasting. · 40 Many chefs use a lot of salt while cooking. While salt can make food tastier, too much of it is linked to serious health issues like heart disease and high blood pressure. At home, you can control the quantity of salt on your plate by seasoning food in other ways, like using lemon juice. The same goes for sugar. You can use smaller quantities of natural sweeteners like honey to add sweetness to your food. Too much added sugar is linked to some diseases as well. A.You can reduce added salt and sugar. B.Eating out can make calorie counting tricky. C.Buy in large quantities and stick to store-brand items. D.Salt and sugar are both essentials in cooking delicious foods. E.Relying on food away from home occasionally is totally acceptable. F.People are always too engaged in their work to cook at home personally. G.People cooking at home have lower levels of dangerous chemicals in their bodies. 第三部分语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 It’s hard to put into words how much of a sense of freedom I get from being outdoors and in the wilderness. If I’m 41 by buildings for too long, I get a bit anxious. I need to see a field, a river or a mountain 42 in front of me. Spending time outdoors is a wonderful 43 , I like nothing more than getting to the end of a day spent outdoors and 44 the ache in my legs from a long walk. It helps me sleep and is far more 45 than 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002training in a gym. There are so many 46 walks to choose from all over the UK. We live on a tiny island, relatively speaking, but the scenery we have here easily 47 some of the most beautiful in the world. We are extremely 48 : on our doorstep we have beaches, rivers, hills and mountains. Thanks to the light and the weather, the same walk can feel very different 49 the time of year you do it. But for breathtaking views whatever the 50 is, I’d recommend Cow and Calf Rocks on Ilk-ley Moor in West Yorkshire. It’s quite a challenge climbing them, which is why doing so feels more daring than a normal walk and offers 51 that you don’t get from following a gentle path. It’s perfect if you want a workout as well as fresh air and gives you the chance to get up high and 52 a view that changes all year round. Otley Chevin in West Yorkshire is another 53 climb that offers beautiful views. And like Cow and Calf Rocks, it is within easy 54 of the nearby town. But being Cambrian, my heart will always belong to the Lake District. I grew up walking those fells in all weathers and seasons, and I think there is nothing more 55 than a big hill walk that gets your lungs burning and brings you to a view you’ve never seen before. 41.A.crowded B.surrounded C.impressed D.involved 42.A.disappearing B.revealing C.emerging D.floating 43.A.experience B.expectation C.arrangement D.ambition 44.A.doubting B.curing C.feeling D.removing 45.A.harmful B.beneficial C.graceful D.pitiful 46.A.powerful B.grateful C.confusing D.amazing 47.A.rivals B.highlights C.escapes D.explores 48.A.lucky B.tense C.certain D.tough 49.A.picking up B.depending on C.contrasting with D.getting over 50.A.season B.custom C.emotion D.response 51.A.curiosity B.excitement C.encouragement D.indication 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx00252.A.put on B.give off C.take in D.set up 53.A.challenging B.exhausting C.moving D.annoying 54.A.limit B.center C.reach D.distance 55.A.regular B.remote C.obvious D.special 第二节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Going against the tide of flooding to well-known yet generally jam-packed tourist destinations on vacation, more holidaymakers in China tend to spend their leisure time at lesser-known resorts to seek unique 56 (relax). Recently, reverse (反向的) tourism 57 (emerge) up as a new trend in China. During the weeklong public holiday, which ended on Oct 7, numerous vacationers, especially young professionals 58 (long) to escape busy city life, avoided popular holiday destinations in order to get off the beaten track and enjoy some peace and quiet. According to data from online travel agency Qunar, as cited by Beijing Daily, 59 number of rooms booked at hotels in less-traveled cities during the holiday was up 30 percent year-on-year. Besides crowds, some vacationers chose less-traveled places to save on the cost of trips to popular destinations, 60 often involve expensive tickets, meals and hotel stays. In addition, lesser-known attractions are not as “commercial and standardized” 61 developed ones and are able to offer more authentic experiences and natural encounters, according to social media posts. And 62 (like) popular destinations, some unexplored places seldom 63 (expose) online can offer more surprises. Jiang Han, a senior researcher at the Beijing-based public policy think tank Pangoal, said that, 64 (compare) to the camping economy, reverse tourism will become one of the future directions for the market 65 is an opportunity for growth. Connected or Disconnected ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节(满分25分) 阅读下而材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 At one time children made May Day baskets to celebrate spring and enjoy the rewards of giving surprising gifts to their beloved ones. When I was in perhaps the third grade, our class took on such an adventure. For several days, we worked on creating paper baskets. We cut colorful stripes of construction paper and wove them together, following our teacher, Miss Anderson. We cut and wove and glued. Then we decorated them with our crayons and more cutting and gluing. Finally, we fitted paper handles onto the tops so that we could secretly hang our creations on the doors of unsuspecting receivers: surely our mothers. We were finished right on time. Miss Anderson brought armloads of flowers for us to use in stuffing our prizes. Lilacs and tulips and al the colorful flowers of spring. We had to wait until the day was nearly over before we were allowed to choose the flowers that were just right for our baskets. I chose the biggest, most beautiful 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002blossoms, allowing myself to be selfish for the sake of my mother. Then we fidgeted (烦躁) away what remained of our day, waiting for the clock to tick down the minutes to our release. Finally, mercifully, the bell rang! We threw on our coats, gathered our homework and our lunch boxes, tied on our scarves and then, carefully, we cradled our offerings of love and off we ran to our individual homes! I was so excited! I ran as fast as I could down the hill, across the street, up the block, heading home. I paused at the corner of my house, to catch my breath and savor the moment. Then I glanced down to admire my offering one last time before I hung it lovingly over the doorknob. Horrors! Shock, dread and depression! My flowers were gone! Apparently, bouncing out on my mad dash home, all that was left was a sad, messed-up, wrinkled little empty basket!
