(1)head ①She turned and headed for the door. ②He buried/put/held his head in hands, greatly annoyed. ③Many people in the audience nodded in agreement. ④I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. ⑤He hung/dropped/lowered/bent/bowed his head in shame. (2)face ①Her face paled with fright. ②A bright smile appeared on/spread across/crossed his face. ③Her face lit up/brightened/glowed when I gave her the present. (3)cheek ①Color rushed/flooded/rose to her cheeks when she realized she was being watched. ②He felt his cheeks burning with shame. ③Her cheeks were wet with tears. (4)eye①He turned his eyes to the door when he heard the handle turning. ②Tina squeezed her eyes shut and bit her lip. ③She looked at her father straight in the eye and answered his question truthfully. ④She tried to sit up, her eyes fixed on Joan's face. ⑤I felt tears well up in my eyes. (5)mouth ①Our mouths dropped open in surprise. ②My mouth started watering when I smelled the food. ③My heart was in my mouth when I walked into her office. (6)hand ①She took the child's hand and helped him climb the steps. ②He reached for her hand and held it tightly. ③She shrugged and spread her hands. “That's all I can tell you.” ④She shivered, rubbing her hands together fiercely. ⑤Her hands shook/trembled as she lifted the glass to her lips. (7)arm ①He was running forward, waving his arms. ②He stood there with crossed arms, looking angry. ③She folded her arms and stared at him. 二、心理描写的高分素材 (1)表“害怕”的心理 ①My throat tightened and my knees felt weak. ②I froze with terror, too scared to move an inch. (2)表“愤怒”的心理 ①Her face clouded with anger. ②His voice trembled with anger. ③He let out cries of anger. (3)表“悲伤和绝望”的心理 ①His heart sank at the news. ②Overcome with bitter disappointment, he locked himself up in his room. ③He was abruptly thrown into a world of darkness and sank into hopelessness. Sweat was pouring down my face. (5)表“震惊”的心理 ①She froze with shock, as if rooted to the spot. ②Her eyes widened further and his mouth opened. A few minutes later, she said, “Grandmother, I am finished now.” ②提示语在后,如“Here is Susan!” the girls cried. ③提示语在中间,如“I'd like to go with you,” replied Susan, “but I cannot finish the task grandmother set me to do.” (2020·浙江1月高考改编)“I'm going to miss you so much, Poppy,” said the tall, thin teenager. Her tail began (摆动) ever so slowly, then faster as she the smell. Paragraph 1 Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Paragraph 2 A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from the university.【描写刻画】 1. ②心理描写:原文前三段中的“trying not to let his emotions (情绪) get the better of him”和“not quite able to keep theirs under control”及“misty eyes”体现男孩和他的父母在离别之际的依依不舍。 Paragraph 1 Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Poppy jumped with joy at the sight of the little dog. She lowered her head to watch it curiously. Then she became so excited that she accidentally knocked over the box in an attempt to get closer. With the box tipping over, out came the little one, who was not shy and instantly got familiar with Poppy. It didn't take long before the two played around the house, cheerfully running after each other. Paragraph 2 A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from the university. He had been missing his parents and the dog since it was the first time that he had been away from home for such a long time. When the boy caught sight of Poppy, he went rushing toward the dog and bent down to give her a big hug. Suddenly, the boy noticed the little dog. “Oh my god, who is this?” His parents laughed at the look of surprise on his face. “It's Poppy's new companion.” said Mom. An elderly man had collapsed while crossing the street, and an ambulance sent him to the hospital immediately. When the man came to himself now and again, he repeatedly called for his son. From a worn letter found in his pocket, an emergency room nurse learned that his son was a soldier. The nurse called the Red Cross office in Brooklyn and made a request for the soldier to be rushed to the hospital. Soon, the young man was found and rushed to the airport in time to reach his dying father. It was mid-evening when the young man walked into the hospital. A nurse led the anxious man to the bed of the elderly man. “Your son is here,” she whispered to the elderly patient. The old patient's eyes opened only after she repeated the words several times. The old man was too weak so it was really hard for him to stay awake and he could vaguely see the young man standing beside him. The old man reached out his hand with all his strength and the young man realized it and immediately held it. The nurse brought a chair for the young man to sit beside the bed. The young man sat holding the old man's hand offering him words of love and hope, all through the night. The dying old man said nothing. The nurse suggested that the young man move away and rest for a while, but he refused. Now and then, she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only holding his son's hand tightly throughout the night. As dawn approached, the old man peacefully died. The young man placed his lifeless hand on the bed and informed the nurse. While the nurse did what was necessary, the young man waited. When she finished her task, the nurse began to say words of sympathy the young man needed. But the young man shook his head. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ He replied, “I knew right away he was not my father." _________________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. It all began when my younger brother, Chris, and I went over to Aunt Barbara and Uncle Howard’s for Thanksgiving. My aunt and uncle live on a farm and Chris and I love going there. One day, Uncle Howard handed me two turkey eggs. “You kids put those under a setting hen,” he said, “and in twenty-five days, you’ll have a couple of fine turkeys!” Chris was so excited that he nearly dropped his egg on the way to the house. We both stuffed ourselves at dinner and then couldn’t wait to go home and tend to our eggs. Twenty-five days seemed like forever. Finally, on the twenty-sixth day, Chris and I walked into the coop after school and spotted two balls of fluff, falling over their feet and looking sort of confused. It wasn’t long before the chicks lost their fuzz and began growing feathers. Chris name done Bill, and I named the other Timothy. I don’t know what happened, but one day we found Bill dead beside the coop. Chris felt terrible. I told him that from now on, Timothy belonged to him, too. Mom kept telling us not to get too attached to Timothy, because we were going to have him for Thanksgiving. But we never paid too much attention to what that really meant. Then, one day toward the end of October, Dad penned Timothy up and gave Chris and me instructions. “I want you to start giving him corn along with his regular feed,” he said. “We want a nice, fat bird for Thanksgiving.” After Dad turned and walked away, Chris began to cry. “Don’t worry, Chris,” I said comfortingly. “Well save Timothy, somehow.” “Why don’t we give him away?” Chris suggested. “No,” I said. “If we do, he’ll just end upon someone else’s Thanksgiving table.” “What if we take him out in the woods?” “He always comes back at night,” I said. We both sighed. Paragraph 1: Suddenly I had an idea. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: To our astonishment, Timothy was gone! _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3. Unlike most U.S national parks, Everglades national park, located in south Florida, was created to protect a fragile ecosystem(生态系统)instead of safeguarding a unique geographic feature. It is a heaven for a wide range of wildlife, such as turtles, snakes, lizards, the Grass frog, Wading birds and so on, among which are fierce American alligators(鳄 鱼). It is said that some of the alligators often appear in the areas where people live, causing much damage. A terrible incident happened on a hot summer day. It was so hot a day that nearly every one felt like jumping into the cool water. A little boy simply couldn’t put up with the heat, deciding to go fora swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. “Mum, it being so hot, I want to have a swim.” the boy told his mother while walking out. “No, Honey, there has been a warning that an alligator from the park has appeared in the surrounding area. It is dangerous!” said his mother in a loud voice. But the little boy rushed out of the back door like a gust of wind before his mother could stop him. He was in such a hurry to dive into the cool water that he left behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he left. He flew into the water and enjoyed the comfortable feeling that the cool water brought him, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward him. His mother was preparing dinner in the kitchen when suddenly she caught the two getting closer and closer to each other as she was looking out of the window. “Oh, My God!” she couldn’t help crying loudly, getting into a great panic. And then in great fear, she ran toward the water, shouting to her son as loudly as she could all the way, “Alligator, Alligator!” Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. However, it was too late. Something horrible was happening. Just as he approached her, the alligator reached him. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Remarkably, after weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4. When I was 19, I spent part of my summer at an adventure camp on Vancouver Island, supervising (照料) a group of 10-year-old girls. Towards the end of the first week, I took them on a camping. By six in the evening, we’d climbed a small mountain. The peak had trees on one side and bald rock on the other. I let the girls play in the wooded area while I arranged things for dinner. When the screaming started, I wasn’t too alarmed-I could see my group tearing through the bush and thought they’d just disturbed a bees’ nest. As the first girl appeared, I asked what was going on. “Wildcat!” she gasped. The image in my head was of a house cat gone wild, but with her next breath she added, “It’s attacking Alyson.” I told the girls to climb on to the rocks and then ran to where they’d been playing. Alyson was lying by bush. She was on her back, eyes wide, staring at a huge cat beside her. The cat was watching me. Anyone familiar with westerns will have seen a cougar (美洲狮) — the mountain lion that springs from the rock face on to the passerby. We’d been told how to deal with bears: “Keep still, back up, make yourself look big.” But we hadn’t covered cougars. I grabbed a stick and swung it into the animal’s face. Startled, it took off into the bushes. Seeing that Alyson was hurt, I set off for the first-aid box, but hadn’t gone four steps when I heard a moan. Turning back, I saw the cougar crouched (蹲伏) by Alyson’s head. It appeared to be eating her. This time I used a bigger stick, hit harder and held on. Once again, it disappeared, and I knelt by Alyson. “There’s no way someone can live through this,” I thought. The cat had torn deep into her neck. She had long cutson her face. “Am I going to die?” she asked. Her heartbeat was racing but weak, the sign of a heart trembling from shock. Paragraph 1: “You’re not going to die,” I said. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: From my branch I could see some people moving on a nearby mountain. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________ 5. One day, a poor boy who was trying to pay his way through school by selling goods door to door found that he only had one dime left. He was hungry so he decided to beg for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?” “You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught me never to accept pay for a kindness. “ He said, “Then I thank you from the bottom of my heart. “ As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but it also increased his faith in kindness and the human race. He was about to give up and quit before this point. Years later the young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the bigcity, where specialists can be called in to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly, now famous, was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately, he rose and went down through the hospital hall into her room. Dressed in his doctors gown he went in to see her. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________ The bill was sent to her room. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________ 6. Life is Good Clothing is a 100 million-dollar company run by brothers Bert and John Jacobs. Like any other businessmen, they went through a lot of failures. However, the idea “Life is good” from their mother kept them going and inspired them to build a clothing company that is now very successful. In 1988, Bert and Jacobs took a seven-week road trip from California to Boston. The brothers said this trip changed their lives forever as they looked back on their childhood. According to the Jacobs, their childhood was perfectly- imperfect. Their house did not have heating but they were taught to always see the good in things. They remembered playing outside all day and when it was dinner time, they would gather around the dinner table. Their mother would say to them, “Tell me something good that happened today.” Their father had a near — death accident which caused severe damage to his right hand. The accident made their father develop a terrible temper (脾 气),but their mother would always sing to them and read them children’s stories. “That optimism was something ourfamily always had, even when we had little else,” the brothers said. During the trip, they tried to figure out what they wanted to do with their lives and decided to run a clothing business. They started selling T-shirt designs in street fairs around Boston. Their design was just a simple drawing of a stick figure with the phrase “Life is good.” Their small business didn’t turn out so well, but the two brothers did not give up. Then they changed their target audience. This time, they tried to sell their T-shirts to college students, going to different schools every night. Again it did not work. To figure out what they had been doing wrong, Bert and John held beer parties, where they asked their friends for their honest opinions. In return , they could enjoy free beer and amusing stories from the brothers. Again this did not seem to work and they were running out of money. However, they took the risk and held another party which they thought was the last. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally, someone noticed their design and showed sincere appreciation. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7. On the first day of school, Victor was handed a packet of papers and a computer card on which he listed his one elective (选修课程), French. Besides, Teresa, a girl he had liked was taking French, too. With any luck they would be in the same class. She was cute. Victor was greatly influenced by her conscientious and scholarly actions. Victor sat calmly, thinking of Teresa, who sat two rows away, reading a paperback novel. The bell rang, and the students headed noisily through the door. Only Teresa lingered (逗留磨蹭), talking with the teacher. Victor lingered, keeping his head down and staring at his desk. He wanted to leave when she did so he could bump into her and say something clever. He watched her on the sly (偷偷地). As she turned to leave, he stood up and hurried to the door, where he managed to catch her eye. Her next class was French, same as Victor’s. Mr. Bueller asked if anyone knew French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa. The teacher beamed and said, “Très bien. Parlez-vous français?” (French for “Very well. Do you speak French?”) Victor didn’t know what to say. The teacher wet his lips and asked something else in French. The room grew silent. Victor felt all eyes staring at him. He tried to bluff his way out (蒙混过关) by making noises that sounded French. “La me vave me con le grandma,” he said uncertainly. Mr. Bueller asked him to speak up.
