读书分享|Academic Word List (Words in Context Test, John Read)

学术词汇（Academic Words，约570词）是学术写作、论文、教材中通用的正式词汇（非专业术语）。

这些词汇必须系统学习：在听、说、读、写全场景中刻意练习；需要在课堂重点教授包括其搭配、用法；目标是达到灵活表达/内化精通，适配学术场景，是雅思/托福/论文写作的核心提分词。具体见之前这篇文章有关学术词相关部分：读书分享 |《外语词汇教学的方法》之词汇五级分层

Paul Nation网站总共提供了4个关于学术词的测试，2个属于Meaning recognition tests，是由Andrea Flavel 设计并试验过、经Paul Nation修订的Test A and Test B。（读书分享｜Academic Word List Test A 学术词汇测试A，读书分享｜Academic Word List Test B 学术词汇测试）

另外2个是由John Read编制的，测试更深层知识的Word association test和Context test。

今天分享的是Words in Context Test。

具体测试方法和内容如下。

This is a test of how well you understand words from the Academic Word List when you see them in a reading passage.

For each academic word in the passage(in bold print), there are three words or phrases.  Choose the one which best explains the meaning of the word as it is used in the passage.   Put a circle around the word/phrase you choose, as in the following examples:

If you are not sure what the answer is, you can guess. You will not lose any marks for guessing wrongly.
