Hello, everyone. Today I want to talk about how to keep ourselves healthy and safe. It’s very important
for us to have a healthy and safe life.
First, we should develop healthy living habits. We need to eat a balanced diet. Our meals should include
enough vegetables, fruits, whole grains and protein. These foods can provide us with the necessary nutrients.
Then, we should exercise regularly. Exercising at least 30 minutes a day, such as walking, running or playing ball
games, can help us keep fit and strong. Also, getting enough sleep is crucial. We should sleep 7-9 hours every
night. Good sleep can make us feel energetic during the day.
Second, when we have health problems, we shouldn’t ignore the symptoms. If we have a fever, cough,
headache or other uncomfortable feelings, we should go to see a doctor in time. The doctor can diagnose our
illness and give us proper treatment. And when taking medicine, we must follow the doctor’s advice. Never
take too much medicine or share medicine with others, because it may be dangerous.
Finally, we should pay attention to safety in our daily life. When using kitchen tools like knives and
scissors, we must be careful. Don’t touch hot pots, pans or other hot things with bare hands to avoid getting
hurt. When we are alone at home, don’t open the door for strangers easily. If there’s an emergency, such as a
fire or a thief, we should call the emergency number for help immediately.
By following these suggestions, we can keep ourselves healthy and safe. Let’s try our best to live a
healthy and safe life.

If you feel stressed at school, what can you do to make yourself happy? Some may eat their favorite food or listen to
some music. Others may go for a walk or get some exercise. A new study found another great way to lower students’ stress
—playing with dogs.
Scientists studied 105 students between the ages of eight and nine. 35 trained dogs and their trainers also took part in
the test. The children were divided into 3 groups. The students in the first group spent 20 minutes with a dog and its trainer.
They watched the trained dogs perform and even played with them. They did this twice a week for 4 weeks. The second
group spent the same amount of time (时长) doing exercise to relax. The last group did neither of these things.
During this time, the scientists recorded the students’ cortisol levels Cortisol is a stress hormone (激
素). The more stressed you feel, the more cortisol you will have in your body. What did the scientists find? Both the second
and third groups showed rises in cortisol levels. The first group, however, showed no big increase. And the children in this
group had the lowest cortisol levels right after playing with the dogs.
According to the study, students enjoy playing with dogs, and it helps them become happier. The stress hormone
falls over time this way, which is good for students’ health. But here comes the next question: Is 20 minutes of playtime
with a dog the best amount of time? Scientists are going to keep working to find out the answer.
56.Why is the first paragraph written?
A.To raise a difficult question. B.To lead in the topic.
C.To shock the readers. D.To show the latest research results.
57.What made the testing results of the three groups different?

59.What does the underlined word “them” in the last paragraph refer to?

C.The best amount of time to play with a dog.

根据 “hidden...to
根据 “experts often...this behavior as” 及语境可知,此处需用固定搭配 “describe...as...”(把……
根据 “When...eat in a hurry” 及语境可知,此处缺少主语,结合备选词 “we”(主格代词),符合 “我们进
根据 “feel...even after
根据 “are more likely
to...healthy foods” 及语境可知,此处需用 “be likely to do sth.”
根据 “be more...during meals” 及

Long ago, when Chinese people got hurt, they found smart ways to deal with cuts. Let’s see how they made it!
First, stopping bleeding was very important. If someone lost too much blood, doctors might press hot things against
the cuts. They found cuts closed faster when they were near hot things. This way also helped make germs (细菌) develop
slowly. They also tied (绑住) the cuts with cloths or ropes to make the blood go slowly. Doctors also used special medicine
like jinchuangyao to stop bleeding and make people feel better.
Cleaning cuts was another step. People in the past knew cuts could make people sick or even kill people if they didn’t
clean the cuts in time. So they would wash cuts with clean water if possible. When cuts got infected (感染的), some people
even opened them with knives. This could help make people feel better.
Old ideas seem simple, but they show how clever people were. Many of the ideas doctors use today come from them.
They just make some changes to make these ideas work better.

Jiang Zhaopeng, an 18-year-old student, faced a life-or-death test on Saturday—not in an exam hall, but in the
backseat of a car, where he performed life-saving CPR on a classmate who went into a heart attack.
Jiang and his classmate were heading to take the spring college entrance exam when the emergency happened
unexpectedly.
At about 8:10 a.m., the two got into a taxi to the testing site. Just a minute later, Jiang’s classmate fell onto his knee.
“I thought he was just tired at first,” Jiang said. But then the classmate began breathing with difficulty and kicking the front
seat before suddenly going limp (瘫软). He soon stopped breathing.
Jiang remembered the first aid lessons from school. He quickly laid his classmate down and began CPR.
“Go to the hospital,” Jiang told the driver, Wang Tao. Wang called the local traffic police and sped to the hospital,
running six red lights and arriving in just seven minutes—half the usual time.
Jiang didn’t tell his school about the whole thing until his classmate was safe with doctors. He then rushed to the
exam site, but arrived too late to take the 9 a.m. Chinese language test.
Later, doctors said his classmate would be okay without any brain damage (损伤). “The first four minutes of CPR in
the car were very important,” said doctors.
Though he missed the exam, Jiang said he had no regrets about his decision. “Exams can be taken again, but a life
cannot,” he said.
