例:WeChat(微信)is a mobile text and voice messaging communication service
developed by Tencent in China, first released in January 2011. With WeChat, we can
communicate with friends by sending text messages, voice messages, we can share
our photos or videos, share our location, we can even chat with lots of friends at the
same time. More important, it is free for the users.
题:The main idea of this paragraph is that ____________.【标题逆推法】
A. the tools of chatting
B. we can use Wechat to chat with lots of friends
C. the functions of Wechat
D. we should often communicate with friends
4
题干中含有how、when、where、why、what、who 等标志性词汇,注意事实
1. 找定位词(重点关注专有名词、人名、地名);
We get better at our job with time and the increased competence means less
stress and more rewards. Yet none of us, no matter how long we’ve been doing it,
ever truly feels like an expert at parenting or even at marriage.
The support and friendship of co-workers also offer stress relief. At home,
meanwhile, stress spreads and increases quickly. “That’s the reason why most
housewives wish they were the bread winners,” Dr. Damaske says.
Much of the advice to families and couples includes the warning to “leave work
stress at office” and even to change our mindset from work to home, for example, a
walk around the block. The recent findings, though, suggest our home life, not our
attitude, might be due for some change.
题:According to the recent findings, what should we change to solve the problem
A. Our attitude
B. Our home life
C. Our mindset
D. Our working style
recent findings, though, suggest our home life, not our attitude, might be due for some
change.”
1. 确定指代对象的性质,包括对象是人是物,是单数、复数还是不可数名词;
If humans were truly at home under the light of the moon and stars, we would
go in darkness happily, the midnight world as visible to us as it is to the vast number
of nocturnal (夜间活动的) species on this planet. Instead, we are diurnal creatures,
with eyes adapted to living in the sun’s light. This is a basic evolutionary fact, even
though most of us don’t think of ourselves as diurnal beings. Yet it’s the only way to
explain what we’ve done to the night: We’ve engineered it to receive us by filling it
with light.
题:What does ‘‘it’’ (Paragraph 1) most probably refer to?
5
A. The night
B. The moon
C. The sky
D. The planet
等词汇;
according to the author
等标志性词汇;
题干中含有be taken from、be likely a part of、
be intended for 等标志性词汇;
例:After years of heated debate, gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone
National Park. Fourteen wolves were caught in Canada and transported to the park.
By last year, the Yellowstone wolf population had grown to more than 170 wolves.
Gray wolves once were seen here and there in the Yellowstone area and much of
the continental United States, but they were gradually displaced by human
development. By the 1920s, wolves had practically disappeared from the Yellowstone
area. They went farther north into the deep forests of Canada, where there were fewer
humans around.
The disappearance of the wolves had many unexpected results. Deer and elk
populations — major food sources (来源) for the wolf - grew rapidly. These animals
consumed large amounts of vegetation (植被),which reduced plant diversity in the
park. In the absence of wolves, coyote populations also grew quickly. The coyotes
killed a large percentage of the park5 s red foxes, and completely drove away the
park’s beavers.
As early as 1966, biologists asked the government to consider reintroducing
wolves to Yellowstone Park. They hoped that wolves would be able to control the elk
and coyote problems. Many farmers opposed the plan because they feared that wolves
would kill their farm animals or pets.
The government spent nearly 30 years coming up with a plan to reintroduce the
wolves. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service carefully monitors and manages the wolf
packs in Yellowstone. Today, the debate continues over how well the gray wolf is
fitting in at Yellowstone. Elk, deer, and coyote populations are down, while beavers

题:What is the author’s attitude towards the Yellowstone wolf project?【作者态度】
A. Doubtful
B. Positive
C. Disapproving D. Uncaring
The Yellowstone wolf project has been a valuable
experiment to help biologists decide whether to reintroduce wolves to other parts of
the country as well.”

案,例如this, that, they, it 等一般指代上文出现过的事物。

Many people think that positive thinking is mostly about keeping one’s head in
the sand and ignoring daily problems, trying to look optimistic. In reality it has more
to do with the way an individual talks to himself. Self-talk is a constant stream of
thoughts of a person, who is often unaware and uncertain of some events, phenomena,
people, or even the person himself. ______ (46) Meanwhile, positive thinking can
help to stop negative self-talks and start to form a positive view on an issue. People
who regularly practise positive thinking tend to solve problems more effectively.
They are less exposed to stress caused by external factors. They tend to believe in
themselves and in what they do.
______ (47) People who think positively demonstrate increased life spans(寿命),
lower rates of depression and anxiety, better physical and psychological health,
reduced risks of death from heart problems. Positive thinking also contributes to one’s
ability to deal with problems and hardships. ______ (48) For example, researchers
have found that in the case of a crisis accompanied by strong emotions, such as a
natural disaster, positive thinking can provide a sort of buffer( 缓冲作用)against
depression and anxiety. Resilient(适应性强的)people who think positively tend to
treat every problem as a challenge, a chance for improvement of any kind, or as an
opportunity for personal growth. Pessimists, on the contrary, tend to perceive
problems as a source of additional stress. ______ (49)
In conclusion, positive thinking is a powerful and effective tool for dealing with
hard times and improving the quality of one’s life. It doesn’t have anything to do with
ignorant optimism when an individual refuses to notice a problem. ______ (50)
Thinking in a positive, self-encouraging way brings about many benefits to one’s
physical and mental health.

into a new apartment or house. The person who bought the house or moved is the one
who throws the party. The party is a chance for friends and family to congratulate the
person on the new home. ______ (36) And it is good time to fill the new space with
love and hopefully presents.
______ (37) Some people register a list of things they want or need for their new
home at a local store or stores. Some common things people will put on a gift registry
include kitchen tools like knives and things like curtains. Even if there isn’t a registry,
a good housewarming gift is something to decorate the new house with, like a piece of
art or a plant.
______ (38) This is often appreciated since at a housewarming there isn’t a lot of
food served. There are usually no planned activities like games at a housewarming
party. The host or hostess of the party will, however, probably give all the guests a
tour of their new home. Sometimes, because a housewarming party happens shortly
after a person moves into their new home, people may be asked to help unpack boxes.
______ (39)
Housewarming parties get their name from the fact that a long time ago people
would actually bring firewood to a new home as a gift. ______ (40) Now most homes
have central heating and don’t use fires to keep warm.
A. This isn’t usual though.
B. It is traditional to bring a gift to a housewarming party.
C. You can also bring food or drinks to share with the other guests.

The box - office income of Chinese movies witnessed a constant increase from
about 17 billion yuan in 2012 to over 40 billion in 2015. However, that increase
slowed down in 2016.
The reasons behind this are various. The fast economic development before
2016 was probably the most powerful engine driving the constant growth in the
box - office income. The application of new technologies and the wide appeal of
movie stars could also account for the increase. However, China saw a decline in its
economic growth rate last year. And the Internet increased options for movie lovers.
Consequently, some viewers began to turn away from cinemas, leading to a slower
growth.
China’s economy is expected to grow at a medium speed in the coming years, so
an increase is possible in the investment in the movie industry and the number of
quality movies. Therefore, its box-office income will probably enjoy a slight
increase.

Last week, with the graduation moment upcoming, we felt it was even harder to
say goodbye to our school. Aiming to express our heartfelt thanks and memorize
the colorful three-year life, we made a decision to prepare a surprising gift for
the graduation ceremony five days later. After a heated discussion among us, we
reached an agreement to design a graduation video.
The following three days, we threw ourselves into carrying out our plan with
great passion.
Some of us equipped ourselves with cameras to take pictures of our school. The
main teaching building, the library, the playground and other familiar sites which
witnessed our school life filled the photos. Others interviewed our teachers who
expressed their impression and best wishes to us.
The following days, with the pictures and videos we collected, we took action to
complete the final video in the school studio. The whole process turned to be a little
hard. However, through our joint efforts and the knowledge we gained from school,
we eventually made it. While we were watching the video, memories of the good old
days in school flashed into our mind. We all felt greatly delighted and inspired.
Then came the graduation ceremony, We attended the unforgettable event in our
school auditorium. Our video was showed when the ceremony came to an end. It was
then that the thunderous applause rose from the watching crowd. Some students
even rose to their feet to cheer for our video. Seeing this, we felt a sense of pride
and achievement flooding into every corner of my heart. We promised to achieve
ourselves in the future to show our gratitude to our school and teachers.

Su Hua: Hi, Li Jiang! Did you see the BBC documentary on CCTV 9 last week?
Li Jiang: You mean Du Fu: China’s Greatest Poet? Yes, I did. Fantastic!
Su Hua: Just think an English actor recites Chinese poems.
Li Jiang: I don’t really understand every line he recites, but I believe he truly
loves the poems himself.
Su Hua: Right. It is reported that the film is well received outside China.
Li Jiang: Yeah. It’s my first time to hear Chinese stories told by an English
speaker.

abroad. These films can help foreign friends better understand this land—Chinese
literature, geography, history, food…

CCTV 9 broadcast Du Fu: China’s Greatest Poet, a documentary produced by
BBC. This well—made film provides foreign audiences with a fresh way of better
knowing China’s past and present.
Documentaries about China, produced either in China or in other countries, are
becoming increasingly popular among foreigners. For one thing, the overall
development over the past decades has been so striking that they feel eager to
familiarize themselves with what is going on in China.
For another, China enjoys a long history and rich culture. It has always been
an attraction for those who are keen on anything that is Chinese. These documentaries,
present a splendid picture of China in front of their audiences—its history, landscape,
art, food, or even traditional Chinese medicine.
Because of these films, some foreigners have begun to think of coming to China.
In this way, they can form a true picture of China themselves.

“I’m going to miss you so much, Poppy,” said the tall, thin teenager. He bent
down to hug his old friend goodbye. He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled,
trying not to let his emotions (情绪) get the better of him.
His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their
son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and
studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled
through misty eyes and then laughed.
The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess
this is it,” he said. “I’ll see you back home in a month, okay?” His parents nodded,
and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students
and parents. The boy’s mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back
home.”
The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week,
Poppy didn’t seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily walk.
Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy
didn’t.
They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on
the sofa, but the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get
worried. “What should we do to cheer Poppy up?” asked Dad. “We’ve tried
everything.”
“I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,” smiled Mom. “Without anybody
left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a little dog for
Poppy.”
It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box.
Poppy welcomed them home as usual, but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put
her nose on it. Her tail began wagging (摆动) ever so slowly, then faster as she caught
the smell.

Dad put the box on the ground and opened the top. A shiny little wet nose

joy. She smiled, her tongue lolling out (伸出舌头) as she investigated the surprise.
The little pup was not shy and immediately starting yipping (汪汪叫) and jumping

It’s a really good idea to visit colleges before you apply because their websites
can all start to look and sound the same. Nothing will give you the sense of what it
will actually be like to live on a college campus (校园) like visiting and seeing for
yourself the dorms, classrooms and athletic equipment and, of course, the students. It
seems a little crazy once senior year hits to find the time to visit college campuses,
and it can also be pricey if the schools you are applying to happen to be more than a
car ride away. But keep in mind that you are making a decision about the next four
years of your life, and do all the research you can to make sure you are making the
right one.
There’s no excuse not to visit the schools in your local area. In fact, a lot of
college applications even ask if you have visited campus, and obviously, if you live
across the country that won’t be as much of a possibility, but if you live nearby, go
check it out!
If campus visits aren’t going to happen before you apply, at the very least you
should find some time between applying and getting your acceptance letters to visit
the schools you’d like to attend. It can save you a lot of heartache if you rule out now
the things that you don’t like about certain campuses, things that you wouldn’t know
unless you actually visit.
Now, if time and money are making it impossible, then check out the online
college fairs at CollegeWeeklive. It’s a chance to chat online with admissions officers,
students, and college counselors ( 顾问), and it won’t cost you a penny! You can
register for its online college fair at collegeweeklive.com. While visiting an online
college fair can’t take the place of an actual campus visit, it can be a very useful tool
that along with all your other research will help you make an informed decision about
which colleges or universities you’d like to attend.
