In the digital age, the way people communicate and interact has
changed dramatically. Social media platforms have become an
integral part of daily life, connecting people across the globe in an
instant. People can share their thoughts, photos and life moments
with friends, family even strangers with just a few clicks. While
social media brings unparalleled convenience and connection, it also
brings some problems. Many people become overly dependent on
it, losing the ability to communicate face to face. There are also
issues like information overload, fake news spread and privacy
leakage. What’ s more, excessive use of social media can lead to
anxiety and low self-esteem, especially among teenagers who
compare themselves with others’ seemingly perfect lives. Balancing
the benefits and drawbacks of social media has become a necessary
skill for everyone living in the modern world.

听力原文
Text 1
M: Clara, are we still meeting at the cinema? The movie starts at
5:30 pm, right?
W: Oh no, I almost forgot! My piano lesson got rescheduled. It was
supposed to end at 5:15 pm, but it will be delayed by half an hour.
M: In that case, I‘ ll pick you up 15 minutes after your lesson
actually ends, then we’ll catch the next movie.
W: That‘s great!
Text 2
M: Have you decided what you wish to study?
W: Yes, Professor. I wish to study architecture.
M: Why did you choose it?
W: I’m attracted by the combination of design and engineering.
Text 3
M: This apartment is perfect. So how much do you charge for it?
W: The rent is $200 per month. You need to pay three months‘
rent at one time, and you will need one more month’s rent as a
deposit in case something happens.
M: OK. I‘ll take it.
Text 4
W: Tell me about your latest jungle trip.
M: The living conditions were primitive, and the humidity was
almost unbearable.
W: How long did your team spend in the jungle?
M: We had planned to be there for a month. But we stayed for
only 2 weeks because we received news that a hurricane was
approaching.
Text 5
W: Have you decided where to take Mr. Brown to dinner tonight?
M: Well, I tried to get us into a private room at Anna’ s Garden,
because the main dining room is too noisy, but the rooms were all
reserved. I made a reservation at Muvi, though, for 7:00.
W: I’ ve been there. The food is excellent. It’ s right next to that
French cafe, Tami.
M: Right. Traffic can be heavy going that way. Let’s start out a little
earlier at 5:30 so that we can avoid the busy evening rush hour.
Text6
M:
Does
the
band
Sharpie’ s
new
album
live
up
to
your
expectations, Sally?
W: To be honest, I didn’t have any particular expectations, because I
thought their last album was overrated. So, although I’m sure it’s
going to be a hit, it doesn’t do much for me really. There are one
or two reasonable songs, but for me, it’s just more of the same.
M: Seriously? The songs are strong - though it’s not clear from the
cover which of them wrote each one.
W: Yeah, I couldn’t find the information on the poster, but actually
all that is on the website.
Text7
M: The Child Healthcare Foundation has been a key player in
fighting against childhood obesity. Its president, Rita Merton, joins
us today. Welcome, Rita.
W: Hello, Mark. Hello, everyone.
M: What have been the main priorities in your foundation‘s work so
far?
W: We have focused on three areas. First, we are ensuring that
children have a healthy weight when they start school. The second
area is that we need to make sure healthy schools are the norm,
not the exception. Third, we have to make sure that kids are
physically active.
M: And what are parents supposed to do?
W: They should help kids have fewer sugary drinks and reduce
screen time for family activities.
M: Then what are the biggest barriers to achieving those three
things?
W: A key barrier is that low-income families face greater challenges.
We’ve seen much more progress among children of higher income
families.
M: Thanks so much, Rita.
W: It‘s my pleasure to be here.
Text8
W: You said there were many people interviewing you yesterday.
M: Yes. In the past, I’ ve had interviews with two or even three
people on the other side of the desk, but never five! So that was a
bit scary. One thing I can say for sure is that nobody smiled very
much.
W: How did you think it had gone?
M: Even though I believed in myself, I knew the other applicants
were both clever and experienced. I couldn’t help thinking that the
interviewers would go for one of them.
W: If you could offer one piece of advice to anyone out there
going for a job interview soon, what would it be?
M: Only one thing? Well, it’s obviously important to dress the part,
you know, be neat and tidy. And of course, being late is never
recommended! But I’d say the main thing to remember, though, is
to present your true self on the day. Interviewers can tell if you’re
acting and that just won’t work.
Text9
Hello everyone, this is a quick announcement about the library's
new summer hours. Starting next Monday, we'll be open from 8
a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, but closed on weekends.
Also, please note that the computer lab on the second floor will be
under renovation throughout July. If you need to use computers for
research, please use the six terminals in the main reading room
instead. However, these cannot be reserved in advance— it's first
come, first served.
A gentle reminder: all books borrowed before June 1st are now
overdue. Please return them by this Friday to avoid a fine. You can
also renew them online through the school website.
Finally, we're looking for two student volunteers to help organize
the new book arrivals next Tuesday afternoon. If you're interested,
please leave your name at the front desk.
That's all. Happy studying!

Attention, all senior three students. I have an important notice
about next Friday's graduation ceremony rehearsal.
The rehearsal will take place in the school auditorium at 2:30 p.m.
sharp. Please be seated by 2:15. Each class monitor should collect
the graduation gowns from the storage room on the first floor at
lunchtime and distribute them to your classmates.
Here's a change: originally, the principal was going to give the
opening speech. However, due to a family emergency, he had to
leave town. So now, our vice principal, Mrs. Chen, will be delivering
the opening speech instead. Also, the student representative, Li Hua
from Class 3, will share his reflections on the past three years.
After the rehearsal, we need six volunteers to help tidy up the
stage. If you can stay behind, please tell your monitor after this
announcement.
Don't forget to bring your gowns on the actual graduation day.
Thank you.
