形容词/副词描述同义复现常表现为“程度词匹配”,比如important=essential、difficult=hard。

如gardens=green
areas。
如:urban=city-
based。
practice speaking=talk to native speakers...join a language club。

manage=
organize/organization。
如danger=dangerous。

词汇复现用且防;逻辑显隐前后句;
通览全文看文体,结构位置小标题;
再看选项定功能,标题位置加逻辑;
代词同派近反义,上下匹配关键词;

01(2019 全国I 卷)
Is Fresh Air Really Good for You?
We all grew up hearing people tell us to “go out and get some fresh air.” 36 According to recent
studies, the answer is a big YES, if the air quality in your camping area is good.
37 If the air you’re breathing is clean--which it would be if you’re away from the smog of cities--then the
air is filled with life-giving, energizing oxygen. If you exercise out of doors, your body will learn to breathe more
deeply, allowing even more oxygen to get to your muscles (肌肉) and your brain.
Recently people have begun studying the connection between the natural world and healing (治愈). 38 In
these places patients can go to be near nature during their recovery. It turns out that just looking at green, growing
things can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and put people into a better mood ( 情绪). Greenery is good for us.
Hospital patients who see tree branches out their window are likely to recover at a faster rate than patients who see
buildings or sky instead. 39 It gives us a great feeling of peace.
40 While the sun's rays can age and harm our skin, they also give beneficial Vitamin D. To make sure you
get enough Vitamin D—but still protect your skin— put on sunscreen right as you head outside. It takes sunscreen
about fifteen minutes to start working, and that's plenty of time for your skin to absorb a day's worth of Vitamin D.
A. Fresh air cleans our lungs.
B. So what are you waiting for?
C. Being in nature refreshes us.
D. Another side benefit of getting fresh air is sunlight.
E. But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?
F. Just as importantly, we tend to associate air with health care.
G. All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens.
02(2019 全国II 卷)
Imagine a child standing on a diving board four feet high and asking himself the question:“Should I jump? This
is what motivation or the lack of it can do. Motivation and goal setting are the two sides of same coin. 36 Like
the child on the diving board, you will stay undecided.
37 More than that, how should you stay motivated to achieve the goal? First, you need to evaluate yourself,
your values your strengths, your weaknesses, your achievements, your desires etc. Only then should you set your
goals.
You also need to judge the quality and depth of your motivation. This is quite important, because it is directly
related to your commitment. There are times when your heart is not in your work. 38 So, slow down and think
what you really want to do at that moment. Clarity(清晰)of thoughts can help you move forward.
Another way of setting realistic goals is to analyze your short and long term objectives, keeping in mind your
beliefs, values and strengths. Remember that goals are flexible. 39 They also need to be measurable. You
must keep these points in mind while setting your goals.
Your personal circumstances are equally important. For example, you may want to be a Pilot but can’t become
one because your eyesight is not good enough. 40 You should reassess your goals, and motivate yourself to
set a fresh goal.
You will surely need to overcome some difficulties, some planned, but most unplanned. You cannot overcome
them without ample motivation. Make sure that you plan for these difficulties at the time of setting your goals.
A. This can affect your work.
B. So how should you motivate yourself?
C. However, this should not discourage you.
D. So why should we try to set specific goals?
E. They can change according to circumstances.
F. Motivation is what you need most to do a good job.
G. Without motivation you can neither set a goal nor reach it.
03(2019 全国III 卷)
In an online class, developing healthy patterns of communication with professors is very important. 36
While I have only listed two of each, there are obviously many other situations that can arise. Students should be able
to extend the logic(逻辑)of each to their particular circumstance.
Do's
• 37 Questions about subject content are generally welcomed. Before asking questions about the course
design, read the syllabus(教学大纲)and learning management system information to be sure the answer isn't
hiding in plain sight.
• Participate in discussion forums(论坛), blogs and other open-ended forums for dialogue. 38 Be
sure to stay on topic and not offer irrelevant information. Make a point, and make it safe for others to do the same.
Don'ts
• Don't share personal information or stories. Professors are not trained nurses, financial aid experts or your best
friends. If you are in need of a deadline extension, simply explain the situation to the professor. 39
• Don't openly express annoyance at a professor or class. 40 When a student attacks a professor on the
social media, the language used actually says more about the student. If there is truly a concern about a professor's
professionalism or ability, be sure to use online course evaluations to calmly offer your comments.

IQ scores like Einstein’s 160 or Madonna’s 140 grab attention, but EQ (Emotional Intelligence), MQ (Moral
Intelligence), and BQ (Body Intelligence) are far more critical for success. A high IQ is necessary but not enough.
For example, people prefer doing business with those they like and trust, even with less favorable terms. 1
Emotional Intelligence
EQ centers on recognizing and regulating emotions—both your own and others’, using them appropriately in
situations, and building strong relationships. 2 This practice sharpens self-awareness of how thoughts
influence feelings. Stress can be a huge killer of emotional intelligence, so you also need to develop healthy coping
techniques that can effectively and quickly reduce stress.
Moral Intelligence
MQ builds on EQ, focusing on responsibility, sympathy, and forgiveness. It grows on keeping commitments,
staying honest, and treating others with respect. To improve it, replace excuses with responsibility for your actions.
3 Show genuine sympathy for others’ struggles, as empathy promotes connection. Equally important is
forgiveness—showing tolerance of other people’s shortcomings.
Body Intelligence
BQ reflects how well you understand, value, and care for your body. Though it may seem unrelated to work,
it absolutely affects your work because it largely determines your feelings, state of mind, and energy level. 4
Choosing energy-giving foods over tiring ones, ensuring sufficient rest, making time for exercise, and even small
steps like monitoring weight can dramatically benefit the way you perform at work.
5 Someone with these qualities can outperform a highly educated person lacking them. IQ benefits
you alone, but EQ, MQ, and BQ uplift those around you, unlocking greater success and professional respect.
A.This can build others’ trust in you.
B.This leads to repeated mistakes in your act.
C.Without it, even daily tasks can feel unmanageable.
D.Developing it means noticing daily signs and acting on them.
E.Formal education matters less than developed EQ, MQ, and BQ.
F.To improve it, start by tracking your inner dialogue through journaling.
G.Thus, investing in EQ, MQ, and BQ matters more than just fixing on IQ.

Recovery after exercise varies greatly among individuals, even when they perform the same workouts. 1
Fitness level
A person’s current fitness level plays a key role in how quickly they recover. 2 Those who exercise
regularly have stronger cardiovascular systems and more efficient muscle repair mechanisms, allowing them to
bounce back faster than beginners.
Sleep quality
Sleep is when the body does most of its repair work. 3 Poor sleep, on the other hand, slows down
recovery by reducing the production of growth hormones needed for tissue repair. Establishing a consistent sleep
schedule is thus vital for optimal recovery.
Nutrition intake
What you eat after exercise directly affects recovery. 4 Protein helps rebuild muscle tissue, while
carbohydrates replenish energy stores. Skipping post-workout meals or eating foods low in nutrients can significantly
delay recovery.
Stress levels
Chronic stress can hinder the body's ability to recover. When stressed, the body releases cortisol, a hormone
that breaks down muscle tissue and impairs immune function. 5 Finding ways to manage stress, such as
through meditation or yoga, can therefore speed up recovery.
Understanding these factors can help individuals adjust their routines to improve recovery and get the most
out of their exercise efforts.
A.This is why athletes often follow strict sleep plans.
B.So what causes these differences in recovery speed?
C.Nutrients like protein and carbs are especially important.
D.It can also increase the risk of injury during subsequent workouts.
E.People with higher fitness levels tend to recover more quickly.
F.Everyone needs a different amount of sleep for proper recovery.
G.Even minor changes in diet can have a big impact on recovery time.

We often hear that good nutrition, quality sleep, and regular exercise are the keys to improving overall health.
1 It turns out that putting pen to paper can have a great impact on our well-being, bringing the benefits of more
traditional health practices.
Research suggests that stress and the hormone cortisol (皮质醇) are closely linked. Cortisol, produced during
times of anxiety, can cause significant damage to our physical health if overproduced, leading to issues like increased
belly fat and dry skin or hair. 2
Writing instructs all your mind to form an orderly queue. 3 It is filled with the daily news and too
many to-do lists, your anxiety and your fears. When you write, you’re rearranging the chaos of your mind into a calm
bookshelf of thoughts, feelings, and “things you can control”.
4 It’s much like tidying a bedroom — suddenly, you can see what you need for the day, and everything
else appears sorted. Imagine a room filled with chaos. It’s a heart-racing mess. Now picture that same room, magically
tidied, with everything in its place. Doesn’t that feel better?
By clearing the fear and stress, you’re more likely to make better decisions, eat healthier, exercise more, and
enjoy more peaceful sleep. No longer are you bothered by the undone things or “what if” worries. So, start
somewhere. 5 Sit down with a cup of tea, and begin to write freely. It’s a small step but can lead to a healthier
and more organized life.
A.The mind can be a messy place.
B.The benefits of writing are not just physical.
C.But have you considered the power of writing?
D.This act of organization brings a sense of order.
E.Get the notebook that catches your eyes in the bookshop.
F.If you wish to further clear, discuss what you have written with others.
G.One lesser-known but effective way to reduce its levels is through writing.

Earthquakes are dangerous natural disasters that occur every year. If you live in a region prone to earthquakes,
you might at some point find yourself in your car when one strikes. 1 How can you get a better chance of
surviving in your car?
Pull over to the shoulder. If you’re driving when the earthquake strikes, you should pull over to the shoulder
of the road in a quick and safe manner. This is important, as you don’t want to be struck by other drivers who are
trying to flee the area. 2 If you are on an overpass (立交桥), don’t stop until you are on solid ground.
Look for a location where things can’t fall on your vehicle. As you’re trying to pull over, you should look
around for a spot where your vehicle will be safe from falling debris (残骸). If you’re in the middle of a city, you
may not have many good options. 3
4 After you park your car, you should turn the engine off immediately. This is important, as the
earthquake could damage your vehicle or break the gas tank — creating a situation where your car catches fire or
even explodes.
Put your emergency brake on. 5 Your emergency brake will help keep your car from rolling
backwards or forwards if the ground becomes uneven below the vehicle. This is especially helpful if you’re on a
bridge or elevated road where your car could roll off.
A.Turn off your engine.
B.Park your car away from highway.
C.This may present a variety of challenges to you.
D.Once your engine is off, put your emergency brake on.
E.Don’t forget to signal or turn your hazard lights (危险报警闪光灯) on.
F.The thick flat of the highway could fall off its supports during the earthquake.
G.In this case, you may just want to park your car in a place you are most comfortable with.

How to Love Your Parents
Even if you think that your parents are mean-spirited (小气的) at times, loving your parents is a normal and
fulfilling part of life. You love them for the fact that they created you, raised you, and are in part a source of who you
are. Here are some ways to love your parents.
1 A gentle “Good morning” and “I love you”will warm a coldest heart. Remember that they brought
you into this world. Without your parents, you might still wander at an unknown corner in an unknown world.
Respect them more and cherish these moments. You can use these moments to learn from them when you’re
off on your own. It’s OK to get angry but angry actions don’t help you or your parents. Act calmly, cool off, keep a
journal of your feelings, or talk to a friend. 2
Obey their requests. It will make your attitude better and earn you more respect from them. It may seem like
you are going through hell when you don’t get what you want or you have to clean. However, you had better remember
they keep a roof over your head when it’s cold, raining, snowing, or too hot. Understand that parents are human
beings and make mistakes. 3 Since you can forgive your friends, why not forgive your parents?
Keep company with them. Do things with your parents like watching TV, or go somewhere with them. 4
Listen to their old stories and learn from them. You will find they are your teachers in this way or another.
Some people simply may not be able to love their parents. 5 Seek help if you are being abused
(虐待) in any way. Parents do not have a right to harm you.
A.Forgiveness is the key.
B.Tell them you love them every morning.
C.Parents will in turn express their love to you.
D.After this, share your feelings with your parents.
E.Anyway, spend as much time with them as you can.
F.Please remember parents are as important as friends.
G.There can be realistic reasons for this, family violence for example.

Many adults are proud to share their fascinations with what others would label as kids’ toys. Mini Brands mystery
packs or other blind boxes have become a phenomenon as collectibles for some adults. 1 For others, Legos
are on their wishlist encouraged by the brand’s growing number of grown-up sets.
2 Seeking and sparking child-like joy may be part of the appeal, said behavioral therapist Maddy
Ellberger. “When something reminds us of a positive memory, we are likely to engage with it because the association
recalls those memories.”
3 Clothing brands are also cashing in on nostalgia (怀旧情怀) — from Crocs creating a Lizzie
McGuire clog to Lululemon’s Disney collection making a full comeback that includes adults. Barbie isn’t just for
kids clothes now either, thanks to the recent film and “Barbie-core” fashion trend.
In addition to the trendy appeal, all these revivals can also touch on a feeling of connection during a time of
increased division. But whether that desire for connection is satisfied depends on if you can translate the excitement
into real, in-person connection. 4 But having or wearing the same thing is not the actual steps of forming
shared identity,” Ellberger said. “And I feel like that’s some of what gets lost, and it isn’t impossible.”
Ellberger has a great idea for this. “You are into a certain trend, like toys. There’s a good chance you’ll find
others who are into the same trend. 5 If it was part of everyone’s secret Santa or white elephant — that’s a
really cute way of connecting over this,” she said.
A.The craze goes beyond toys.
B.So, what’s with the fascination?
C.It’s a great way to form community.
D.Then give these toys to them as holiday gifts.
E.Social media fuels the trend by creating shared experiences.
F.Even stuffed animals are making their way into adults’ homes.
G.Childhood favorites have instead become relevant to adults again.

Why Reading is Important for Students
Reading is not just about schoolwork — it shapes your thinking and opens your eyes. Here are some key reasons
to make reading a daily habit.
Enlarge Vocabulary
1 For example, meeting “determined” in different stories many times helps you remember it more
easily than just memorizing it in a wordlist.
Improve Grades
In a world full of distractions (分心的事物), reading can help your brain to focus. Reading your interesting
books within school is good for your study. 2
Develop Empathy (同理心)
3 Researchers call this the theory of empathy. When you read about a character’s struggles, you may want
to give a hand.
Reduce Stress
Reading can bring peace. 4 A 201 study found that just 6 minutes of reading lowers heart rate and
relaxes muscles. 5
Books help readers’ imagination. Without imagination, people won’t be able to develop new inventions and ideas
that advance society.
A.Think deeply.
B.Inspire Imagination.
C.Stories lead you into others’ lives.
D.Over time, you’ll find your grades become higher.
E.Quiet reading time helps you forget daily pressures.
F.Even 15 minutes a day can make a long-term difference.
G.The more frequently you meet a word, the more easily you remember it.

The Importance of Being Independent
The capacity to become independent is not everyone possesses. 1 Learning to support yourself is
essential for any success you ever hope to attain. At the end of the day, you only have yourself to fall back on, so it’s
very important to deal with things on your own.
People bank on others far more than it is necessary. People put their happiness in the hands of a significant
person, thinking this will bring them satisfaction. 2
Should you always rely on someone else? Of course not. 3 Therefore, what you should learn is how
to make decisions on your own. Some people fail to become independent for a variety of reasons, with fear the
biggest: the fear of isolation, the fear of rejection and the fear of the prospect.
On the contrary, there is no reason to base your life decisions on relationships with people. All relationships
come to an end at some point or another. 4 The only thing you can do is to update your understanding of
relationships. Instead of expecting them to bring you happiness and provide you with enjoyment, appreciate the time
spent and enjoyment shared since you know it will be gone one day.
5 Don’t wait for others’ suggestions, decide yourself and learn from your own mistakes. Many people are
afraid to think for themselves because that involves taking responsibility for their own lives. This is just one way
people become gradually-dependent. We are born alone and we die alone, so we each have to take responsibility for
our lives at every step along the way.
A.You can not do anything to change or affect that.
B.A great many people make this serious error these days.
C.Make decisions by and for yourself, whatever they may be.
D.However, you need to be independent in order to survive in the world.
E.You can control your own life by making your own choices.
F.In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is wait for the right time.
G.Not only are you limiting yourself, you are also likely to become a burden to this person.
