To be honest, I wasn't expecting that much. I honestly expected a polite apology, explaining that the dessert had been removed from the menu years ago. Instead, they did something extraordinary. The team agreed to make a oneoff lemon tart that they hadn't made for five years. I couldn't contain my excitement and didn't tell a soul until the night before his birthday. This wasn't a promotional event because there were no cameras, no publicity, and no social media campaign. Just a group of people at Cecconi's heard of our story and chose kindness.

Then came another surprise. When I arrived to collect it, I was overwhelmed that they had gone to such lengths. As I reached for my wallet, they refused to take any payment. The tart was on them, completely free of charge. I stood there speechless. I nearly cried. I hugged the manager.
