caused this global warming rather than a random but natural phenomenon.
The girls were surprised at the fact that ocean ships can sail up the Great lakes.

教学过程
Teaching procedure
(1). lead-in
All right, boys and girls! There are lots of news coming up every day. Can you
share some of the latest news to us? Please try to use this sentence pattern: I heard a
news that …. Yeah, some of you said “I heard news that we will have 7 days for New
Year vacation next week!” and “I heard news that Luhan is dating Guanxiaotong
recently.” Excellent! We are going to learn some other news and grammar today.
(2). presentation
a) Deal with the material:
Step 1: Read (处理材料)
“Guys, please open your book.
Now we have some sentences and please listen to the tape and think about this
question: What has caused global warming? What was the girl surprised at? Please
listen carefully and try to give me the answer. Let’s begin.
Ok time’s up. Please share your ideas. Jordan, you please. Thank you, sit down
please. It is human activities that has caused global warming and the girl was
surprised at the fact that the ship can sail up the Great Lakes. Good job! You all get
the correct answer.
Step 2: Find(呈现知识点)
“Now please pay attention to the sentences and try to find the “noun clauses”.
Where are they? Any volunteers? Alice finds the sentences so quickly. Let’scheck them together. The first sentence is: There is no doubt that the earth is becoming
warmer. The second sentence is : The girls were surprised at the fact that ocean ships can sail
up the Great lakes. The third sentence is: The question whether we should call in a
specialist. I have listed the sentences on the blackboard.”
Step 3: Conclusion (总结规律)
“Now let us look at three sentences. What kind of noun clause is it? Can you
find the rules? Let’s work in groups and try to figure out the grammar point. Have
you done? Let’s look at them together:(小组分享一下,此处省略,自己补充
进去)
(1)专业术语讲解法
We usually use appositive clause to make complements and explanations to
an abstract noun, such as: news, report, belief, fact, and question. And we often
use “that” or “whether” to link the clause, and this time “that” has no meaning in
the clause. The only function of it is to be the conjunction word. And that is one
difference between “that” in attributive clause and in appositive clause.
(2)举例要点讲解法
First, pay attention to the second sentence, what is the “Fact”? Yes, that is
“the ship can sail up the Great Lakes”
What is the “question” in the third sentence? Yes, “whether we should call
the specialist.”
So, we realize that in both sentences, the clause tells the details of the fact or
question. We call them A is B, B is A.
And what link words we use in these clauses? Yes, “that” or “whether”, do
they have any meaning in the clause? No, they don’t mean anything.
(3). Practice(两个活动任选其一)
a) Review
Practice makes perfect, so let’s do more exercises then. There two activities, first,
let’s review the passage using match the sentences. Please finish it as quickly as you
can and we will check the answers later. Here we go. (板书内容)

b) Pair work
Now, let’s work in pairs to have more communication. I am going to set up a
situation like this: suppose you are a reporter, and you will report some school news
today. What news you are going to tell the class? Try to make a conversation and
practice with your partner. Remember, try to use the new knowledge we learned today,
clear? Ok, start!
So, which team goes first? You two please. Great!
(4). Production(任选其一即可)
Task1: Role play
“As we all know, the best way to use a language is to use it in real situation. So
let’s have a role play. I will hand out some cards on which there are different
situations. You need to work with your partners to create a dialogue and try to act it
out in the class. Please remember: use the appositive clauses as many as you can. You
can do it like this: (可举例). Understand? Now, please go ahead.
Ok, it’s your show time! Which team goes first? You please! Others listen
carefully, I have more questions.”
Task2: Do a survey
Ok, let’s do a survey. You need to think about the following topic: What facts do
you know about the earth? Think about your answer for a while, then share your idea
to your team mates. You will work in groups of six and don’t forget to ask for extra
information to your partners, all right? Remember, write the answers in the chart, I
will check later. Ok, 10 mins for you, here we go.

(5). summary & homework
“How time flies! Who can tell me what we have learned today? Ok, I heard most
of you say we have learnt a lot of new words. Great! And I also heard that we have

is not just inside the class. It’s for life, for fun.”

Right, our homework! When you go home, please collect as much news as possible
