There are many successful people in the world. If you want to succeed like them, the following rules are of
great importance to you.
Speak less. Let your results speak for you. You don’t always need to tell everyone what you are doing, or
what you’re planning to get. Let your results do the talking. People will notice and respect you more if they see
your results before they hear your plans.
Listen more. You can not learn if you do not listen. By listening, you’ll learn something different from
yours, keep yourself from making the same mistakes.
Watch more, the closer you watch, the more you’ll know about the world. And then you’ll find something
wrong or something that needs improving. Step by step, you’ll get your own way to creation.
Finally, take action. Action speaks louder than words. If there’s anything you want to do and can do, just do
it instead of thinking too much. Then, you are halfway to making your dreams come true.

Dear Wang Ling,
How are you? Last time you said you have no idea what you should do when you are under pressure and
have worries. One good way that many students in my country find helpful is using a worry box. Let me explain
how to make and use one.
Try using a worry box◆ Make a special boxUse colorful things and pictures to make
your worry box.
Here is a picture of my worry-eating monster (怪兽) box!
◆ Write down your worries
Take some pieces of paper and write down your worries.◆ Rate (评价) your worries and keep
them in the box
If you like, place each worry on a scale (等级) from 1 to 10. 1 means “a little worried” and 10
means “the most worried”. For example, today I put two worries into the box. I rated “losing
my new bike” as a 7 and “getting bad grades in the math exam” as a 5.
◆ Talk it out
Be sure to make some time every day or week to talk about your worries with your
parents together. You can find ways to deal with them.
Remember, it’s not healthy to carry worries around in your head. The worry box provides a good place to“share” your worries. By using it, you’ll learn to deal with your worries.
Take care!
Yours,
Linda

Weight Gain (增加) in Winter
For many, winter holidays offer a perfect time to enjoy themselves. This can certainly make it easy to put
on weight. “Holiday weight gain isn’t all from celebrating,” says Christina Badaracco, a doctor.
Some animals like to eat more to keep warm in cold weather, when food is more valuable (宝贵的). We
human beings are just like them in this way. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables aren’t in season this time of year. As
a result, we have to eat richer foods.
“In winter, we gel less sunlight and stay inside more,” says Badaracco. This can slow our metabolism (新陈
代谢), which plays a role in holiday weight gain.
We move less in cold days. People are less active during the winter months. They have less interest in
getting outside to exercise or even drive to the gym. It’s reported that more than one-third of the Americans sleep
more in winter.
What’s more, when the temperature drops, we feel especially cold. So many people like to find comfort in
drinks. It’s much easier for them to become fatter.
According to a survey, people expected to gain 5.5 pounds over the winter holiday, but a study shows that
in fact, most people gained only around 1.5 pounds. “People always think that they will gain more weight over theholidays than they really do, but the weight they do gain over the holidays will keep going up over time if they
don’t lose it,” Badaracco says. In fact, a study has found that those weight gains add up over the years.
It is completely normal to have weight changes during the whole year. The key is that you take action early
to stop it if it continues growing over time. You can make an exercise plan, weigh yourself daily, or find a friend
to do exercise with.
“It’s more important and useful to set small, slow and proper goals first. Then you can set bigger ones
through small wins,” says Badaracco.

Dear Peter,
Thank you for telling me about your problem. From your email I can tell you may be near-sighted.
There’re mainly two reasons for this problem First, looking at the computer or phone for too long without a
break can make your eyes tired. Second, using the phone or computer in the dark is bad for your eyes.
I’d like to give you some advice. Firstly, you should use your phone and computer less or use them when
the light is on. Also, you should take a break after using your eyes for an hour.
Follow the advice and I believe your eyes will feel better.
Yours,
Wendy
