Parents will always tell you that your school days are the happiest days of your life. I’m sure you would
disagree.
You think you are old enough to make your own decisions, but your parents don’t think so. You may argue
with your parents a lot. These arguments are necessary for growing up and finding out who you are.
You spend most of your time at school, so you might have worries about keeping up with all your
homework. Your parents might also push you to do well in exams. But what if you don’t like school? What if you
like sports and music? Your parents might want you to go to university so they will want you to do nothing but
study. They will tell you how important it is to have a good education, but perhaps you don’t agree.
And you want to look good, so you’ll spend hours getting ready for a party, but your parents don’t like your
clothes. Maybe you want to change your hair color, but your parents won’t let you.
If you have these problems, what do you do to make your life simpler? Write to me and let me know.

2.What do your parents think is very important? (不超过15个词)

Seeing people in your family fight can be really terrible. Whether the fight is about you or not, you might
feel sad, angry or even ashamed (难为情的). Do you want to know how to end a family fight? Here are some
ideas.
Keep your cool. It’s not easy to keep cool during a fight. If you are very angry, you can try to take a deep
breath or count to 10. Before you talk with your family members, you can also make some physical movements.
Call a family meeting. See if there’s a good time that works for everyone in your family to get together.
Then you can meet together and talk about the family fight. If you are a young boy or girl, try asking your parents
to call a family meeting.
Listen to everyone. Give everyone in the family a chance to speak. That way, everyone can say what’s
going on. Sometimes, letting everyone talk is not easy, especially when their words make you mad. However, if
you let everyone talk, they’ll listen to what you will say, too.
Use “I” to express your feelings. Instead of blaming (责备) your family members or calling them out, try tospeak out your feelings as peacefully as possible. For example, instead of saying “You shout at me too much”, you
could say. “I feel afraid when you shout at me.”

重难语篇拔高练
(23-24八年级上·江苏泰州·期中)根据短文内容,回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡上标有题号的横线上。
Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for both parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with
your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some tips for you to bridge the generation gap (代沟) .
Don’t argue with your parents. Don’t get to parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t
consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go
someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to
your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your
disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a
motorbike. They argued over it. But they finally came to a promise. Michael bought the motorbike, but only drove
it on certain days. Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is
especially important to show love and respect to them. Showing respect can keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your
parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!
