Step 1 Warm-up & Revision
The T can show pictures of body parts, such as ear, hand,
mouth
and eye. Elicit the connection with English learning from Ss.
The
T may use the prompt:
What is the relationship between body parts and language
learning?
The T can show some different pictures of learning and ask Ss
to call out the ways of English learning. Pay attention to the
accuracy of Ss’ words and remind Ss to use the target
structure:
She learns English by working with friends.
1She learns English by making flashcards.
He learns English by reading the textbook.
He learns English by making vocabulary lists.
He learns English by listening to tapes.
He learns English by asking the teacher for help.
Then the T can make a summary of the English learning
methods from four sides(listening , speaking, reading, writing)
Step 2 Presentation

The T can ask Ss to read aloud the sentences. Then the T
can guide Ss to find the rules of the target language: by+v.-ing

The T make Ss do the exercises in 4a. Then the T should
guide Ss to say the correct answer in a complete sentence,
e.g. I practice speaking by having conversations with friends.
