Unit 2 I think that mooncakes are delicious! Section A(1a-1c)  Language goals 1. Ss can talk about festivals and give their personal reactions. 2. Ss can use the exclamatory sentences.  Key words and phrases Teaching Aims mooncake, lantern, festival  Key sentences —What do you like best about the Dragon Boat Festival? — I love the races. I think that they’re fun to watch. How fantastic the dragon boat teams were! 1. The T needs to share the background knowledge of different Teaching Asian Difficulties festivals and increase Ss’ vocabulary about festivals. 2. Ss can use the exclamatory statements to express their feelings. Teaching Aids multimedia courseware or other realia that the T needs for teaching Teaching Procedures Tips Step 1 Warming up In this part, T  The T shows Ss pictures of the traditional Chinese festivals can tell Ss (the Dragon Boat Festival, the Spring Festival and the Lantern that they’re Festival) and then asks them to say the Chinese name and going to learn some Asian English name of each festival. festivals in this (Tips: Give Ss some clues if they have difficulty in recognizing the class.(目标沟 pictures. (If yes, ask Ss to introduce a little bit of the festival; if no, ask Ss to describe the picture.)  The T introduces the background knowledge of the Water Festival. * PPT P10 “A clean slate” is a slang. Answers: 1.d 2.a 3.b 4.c While-listening 1b  Show the video of the conversation in 1b and ask Ss to finish the exercises.  Ask Ss to listen to the conversation again and finish the multiple choice questions. Answers: 1.F 2.T 3.F 4.T  Show listening material to Ss if necessary. Post-listening 1c  Ask Ss to read the conversation in 1c.  Ask Ss to work in pairs and talk about festivals in 1a following the model. T can give Ss examples if they have difficulty in doing this exercise. (See PPT P20-21) Step 4 Language points learning Exclamatory Statements(感叹句) 1. 了解人什么是感叹句 2. 学习what引导的感叹句:What + a /an +形容词+可数名词单数 形式 (+主语+谓语)!, 口语中常可以省略主语和谓语。what引导的感 叹句结构还可以是:What +形容词+可数名词复数或不可数名词(+主 语+谓语)! 3. 学习how引导的感叹句:How +adj./adv.(+主语+谓语) ! Words meaning(词义学习) 1. crowded adj. 拥挤的,n. 人群;群众,v. 挤;靠近;盯着 2. wonder作动词表示“想知道” ,后面接由who/what/why/how引 导的宾语从句或“特殊疑问词+动词不定式”, 意为“想知道......”。 3wonder后面还可以接if / whether引导的宾语从句, 表示“想知道是 否......”, 表示一种委婉的请求或疑问。 wonder还可以作名词, 表示“惊讶; 惊叹”, “奇观; 奇迹”。 Step 5 Summary & Homework Summary  Ask Ss to do the exercises from PPT P31-32. Homework:  Preview 2a-2d.  Do the exercises in students’ book. This is the first period of unit 2. It is important to let the students know that they will learn to give personal reactions and express their Teaching strong feelings using exclamatory statements in this unit. Beside, the Reflection background knowledge of different festivals will be very helpful because the students will learn festivals in both Asian and western countries. 4
