At the outset, plants and trees grow by absorbing sunlight and carbon dioxide as energy sources. Following this initial growth phase, the vegetation is harvested by agricultural machinery and undergoes pre-processing to extract cellulose. In the subsequent stage, the cellulose is sent to a processing facility where it is broken down into sugars. After this conversion, microbes are added to the sugars, yielding ethanol as the final biofuel product.

Once manufactured, ethanol is used as fuel for various modes of transportation, namely cars, trucks, and aeroplanes.
