It was a great feeling to arrive in Paris and see the city full of Christmas lights. On the first day, we stayed in a hotel in the north of Paris. We were pleased with our hotel, but we decided to check the prices of other hotels. The next morning, we walked around the city. I saw a very nice building. Its name was Hotel de Ville. I walked near the building, but the door was closed. After a few minutes, a man opened a window. I asked him, “How much is it each night?” He spoke in French so fast that I couldn’t understand him. I asked him again. I just wanted to know how much it cost to stay every night. He roared something and closed the window. Why was he so angry? I didn’t want to know, so I just left. When we were in the centre of Paris, I saw another hotel. It was a beautiful building that looked like a palace. I thought it was probably a five-star hotel. We stayed in Paris for ten days and had a great time. I saw a very nice building. Its name was Hotel de Ville”可知,作者步行到Hotel de Ville,故选A。 21. 根据文章第三段中的“Why was he so angry?” 根据文章最后一段中的“I loved everything about this city and I’d love to visit it again, but I would learn the language first!” C。 C Governments around the world are pushing for an end to plastic straws (吸管) and bags. More and more businesses are changing to paper products. Using paper is considered to be better than plastic. However, it is harmful to the environment, too. Firstly, paper bags and straws are made from trees. Trees, as you know, are good for the environment. They can slow down climate change. An increase in the use of paper bags can cause more deforestation (毁林). Secondly, the production of paper things requires more energy and water. About 10 percent more energy and four times as much water is used to produce a paper bag than a plastic one. You might say that we can use recycled paper to save that energy and water. This seems to be a good idea. However, it takes even more energy and water to go through the recycling process (过程) than to make a newspaper bag. Products made from recycled paper are also often short-lived. Furthermore, paper products are heavier than plastic ones. That means they require more fuel to transport.Seven trucks are needed to transport two million paper bags, while only one truck is needed to transport the same number of plastic bags. The increased weight also leads to a larger amount of waste once the bags are thrown away. Paper products are actually a lose-lose for both the environment and businesses. They are more expensive than plastic products. A paper straw costs about 5 to 12 cents, while a plastic one usually costs only about 2 cents. The most environment-friendly way is to avoid single-use things altogether. Products like glass water bottles and steel straws can be used over and over again. They are much better than either paper products or plastic products. By increasing the use of these items, you can greatly reduce your throwaway waste and truly make our earth a greener place! 23.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph I refer to? A.using plastic straws. B.using plastic bags. C.using paper products.D.using single-use things. 24.What does the writer think of the recycled paper? A.It saves energy and water. B.It seems not to be a good idea. C.It is better than single-use paper. D.It’s easy to make by recycling process. 25.What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this passage? A.To introduce the disadvantages of paper products. B.To call on using products in an environment-friendly way. C.To compare paper products with plastic products. D.To explain why paper products are bad for the environment. 26.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? 根据“More and more businesses are changing to paper products. Using paper is considered to be better than plastic.” 根据第三段“However, it takes even more energy and water to go through the recycling process (过程) than to make a newspaper bag. Products made from recycled paper are also often short-lived.” 根据最后一段“The most environment-friendly way is to avoid single-use things altogether. Products like glass water bottles and steel straws can be used over and over again...make our earth a greener place!” A。 D Are you sitting comfortably? Just stop for a moment and look at your posture (姿势) without making any changes. What are your legs doing? Are they crossed? And are you a right or left crosser? Some 62 percent of people cross right over left, 26 percent go the other way, and 12 percent have no preference. There are typically two ways to sit in a chair and cross your legs. One is at the knee and the other is at the ankle (踝关节). But as comfortable as it may be to sit with your legs crossed, it is bad for your health and posture. For a start, research shows that sitting cross-legged can increase the misalignment of the hips (髋关节错位), with one being higher than the other. And it changes the speed at which blood moves in the lower part of the body, which can increase the risk of blood clots (凝块). Most of the research suggests crossing at the knees is worse than the ankles. Indeed, sitting this way can cause an increase in your blood pressure (血压) because of the pooling of blood and your heart having to work harder against this. And this can increase the risk of damage to your blood vessels (血管), which is why when you take your blood pressure, you should put your feet on the floor. The longer and more often you sit cross legged, the more likely it is that you’ll have changes in the muscle and bone in your hip. Your neck can also be affected because one side of the body becomes weaker than the other. So, in order to keep a healthy body, do not cross your legs when you’re reading on a chair or watching TV on the sofa. 27.The writer introduces the topic by ______. A.giving a suggestion B.raising questions C.giving background information D.showing facts with numbers 28.According to the passage,______ people cross their left legs over right legs. A.about 12% B.about 26% C.about 62% D.about 88% 29.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Sitting cross legged makes your heart work harder. B.Research shows crossing at the ankles is worse than the knees. C.Sitting cross-legged can change the muscle and bone in your neck. D.Sitting cross-legged can make it possible for blood to clot in the whole body. 30.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A.Are You a Leg-crosser? B.Mind Your Blood Pressure C.Sit Without Your Legs Crossed D.Sit With Proper Posture 【答案】27.B 28.B 29.A 30.C 【导语】本文主要讨论了坐姿中交叉腿的问题,指出交叉腿坐姿可能会对健康产生不良影响,包括髋关 节错位、血液循环速度改变、血压升高等问题,因此建议人们避免交叉腿坐姿。 27. 根据“Some 62 percent of people cross right over left, 26 percent go the other way”可知,大 约有26%的人左腿交叉在右腿上,故选B。 29. 根据“And this can increase the risk of damage to your blood vessels (血管), which is why when you take your blood pressure, you should put your feet on the floor.” Sit Without Your Legs Crossed最能概括文章的主题,故选C。 First aid is the immediate care a sick or injured person gets. In some cases, it may be the only care a person needs. Here are some basic life-saving ways you can learn. 1 CPR is one of the most important first aid measures that a person can know. When a person’s heart stops beating, doing CPR and using an AED could restart their heart. AEDs are put in many public areas. These first aid tools are easy to use. 2 The color of the blood and the way it is leaving the body can let you know how serious the problem is. Almost all bleeding can be controlled with first aid. Washing the wound carefully with water and covering the wound with a piece of cloth are the first steps you should do. 3 Choking happens when a person’s throat gets blocked by food or other things. It is a serious event that can even lead to death. The Heimlich Maneuver is a series of actions that can help cough out the thing a person is choking on. 4 The first step to curing a burn is to stop the burning process.
