Technology is the best and worst thing that has ever happened to education. Compared to the past, students
are learning in a different way now because of the wide use of technology in education.
One of the most important matters about technology and education is the way it has greatly affected the
tests. Students can take practice tests online. These tests give students grade instantly, allowing them to know
quickly what mistakes they have made. Teachers and parents can also see the marks online. In this way,
technology can provide a wonderful service.
Paper tests aren’t the only things that are becoming out-of-date (过时的) these days, either. ▲ They are
cheaper. And students only need to bring a computer or e-book reader with then without having to carry several
pounds of books around. At the same time, taking notes with computer is much easier and quicker. Also, e-mails
allow teachers to communicate with parer (俏皮的人) without asking for a face-to-face meeting.
Surely, technology has its bad points. Through the Internet, students can get the answer to a maths problem
easily. And they can send message answers or pictures of their homework to one another online. Why would
students learn hard if they had a “helper” to do it for them?
Technology has changed education. Modern students teachers, and parents can’t work without it. Therefore,
how to make technology help education better has become a new subject.
56.What does the writer think of the wide use of technology in education?
A.It is helpful.
B.It is a success.
C.It brings both good and bad.
57.What does “These” refer to in paragraph 2?A.Tests online. B.Paper tests. C.English tests.

①take tests ②have classes ③take notes ④send messages

B.Technology—the teacher’s best helper
C.Traditional education is changing because of technology

Several years ago, a couple left their job and sold everything in their home to travel around the world with
their 13-year-old daughter. And the girl left school to travel with her parents. Will you stop studying to travel like
the girl? Here are some students’ opinions.
Wang Le, 14, from Zhejiang:
I think it is a really good way to practice our communication skills by speaking English. If we travel with
our parents around the world, we have to talk to others, especially in English. And there are not so many chances
for that at school. So I think we should travel like them.
Zhang Qiwen, 14, from Jiangsu:I will travel with my parents. Why do we study? We go to school to learn more about the world. If we have
a better way to learn about it, why don’t we do it? We can see lots of amazing things when we travel around the
world with our parents. Having classes at school is boring and useless. I like traveling better.
Zhang Yuxi, 15, from Shanghai:
It is too dangerous to stop studying to travel. Our parents can’t make sure that they know everything. There
are lots of dangers in a completely strange environment. We can’t take a risk of putting ourselves in danger. If we
do, we’ll be really foolish.
Wang Quan, 14, from Beijing:
I think we have enough time to study at school as well as do some traveling. We need to study at school
because it makes sure that we won’t fall behind our peers (同龄人). And we can also travel in the summer or
winter holidays. It helps us to broaden our horizon (拓宽视野) and learn things not in books. But I don’t think it is
a good idea to stop studying to travel.
Will you stop studying to travel?
The school can’t give us many 77

Traveling is a better way to learn more
about the world.
