活动1【讲授】Unit 8 It must belong to CarlaStep 1 Revision
1.Greet the class as usual.
2.Review what they have learned in Section A about how to make inferences
using “must,might,could and can’t” and how to use “belong to” correctly.
Step 2 Leading in
Show some pictures about UFO and aliens and have a free talk.
T : Look what’s it?
Ss : It’s a UFO.
T: Yes. And it’s an alien. What do you think of the alien?
S s: It’s ugly ,strange…
Step 3 Writing 1a
Loo at the pictures in 1a and write a sentence about each picture.
Eg A UFO is landing.
Step 4 Listening 1b
Listen to a conversation about the pictures and number the pictures to show the
order of the events.
Listen again and check the answers (1,3,2)
Step 5 writing 1b
What do you think will happen?Think freely and write 2 or 3 sentences to finish
the stories.
Ask some students to share their ending of the story.
Step 6 Telling a story
Get students to finish the story using the fowllowing words:
Scared ,catch,alien,take finally, luckily ,go back ,run
Then tell the story about the alien.
Step 7 Listening 1c
Different people make different inferences according to what they saw.Listen to
the same conversation again and complete the chart in1c.
Look through the chart and try to guess the missing part.
Listen twice and check the answers.
Step 8 Role play 1d
Have students read the sample conversation in the box of 1d. Then make
conversations in pairs using the information in1c. And role play their
conversations.
Step 9 Summary
In this class, we’ve done much listening and writing practice using the target
language.We’ve known a story about UFO and an alien by listening and speaking.
If we want to know more about mysteries like UFOs ,we must study hard.
Step 10 Practice
Look through the sentenes in Self Check 1 and grasp the meanings.Work alone to
fill in the blanks .Then check the answers.
Then read the information in the chart in Self Check 2.According to their likes and
dislikes, make inferences for the things given using “must,might ,could,and can’t”.

Look through the linking words and phrases and their purposes in 2a.Then match
each linking word or phrase with its purpose .Help the ss understand the usage of
each limking word or phrase.
Check the answers.
Read the passage in 2b quickly and find out the new words and key phrases, then
let them guess the meanings.Teach the new words.
Step 3 While-reading
Scan the passage in 2b and underline the linking words or phrases.Then grasp the
meanings of the sentences and tell the usage of the linking words or phrases in
the sentences and check their own matches in 2a.
Look through the chart in 2c .Read the article to find the mysteries about
Stonehenge .
