教学目标
Knowledge Objectives: make sb.do/adj, feel like doing, examine, call in,
lose one’s power,take one’s position

2学情分析
Students in Grade 9 have colorful feelings,such as: happiness,sadness,anger and so on. They are
interested in expressing their feelings. So they must be interested in the topic of this unit. They
are supposed to use the structure “make sb.do/adj”. It’s easy for students to use them. The class
aims to talk about their feelings.

Step 1. Greetings
Greet the Ss and ask:
Are you happy when listening to the music?
They answer “Yes”excitedlyStep 2. Lead-in:
Watch the video. The teacher says:“Let’s watch the video” ,then shows them and
ask “Does the baby feel sad?,How does the baby feel when he meets so much
trouble?”
They answer the questions“No,he doesn’t. He feels happy.”after watching

Let the Ss think about in pairs: Ss work in pairs.
Can power/money/fame make people happy? Their answers are:Yes/No. Some of
them say why
After the Ss finish,the teacher conclude:
Everything has its two sides.If someone gets money/fame/power by his /her hard
work or intelligent or knowledge like Yao Ming or Ma Yun,He/She will be happy.
While-reading
The teacher say:Here is a story about a king who has everything (power/
fame/money) he wants but happiness.
The teacher says:Let’s learn Unit 11 The Shirt of a Happy Man

Ask Ss to read the passage given in advanced and answer the question:
What’s the main idea of the passage?Help and give comments to students.
Ss read the passage,thinking the question independently.
Then they answer:It’s the spirit of happiness.

Ask Ss to read the passage again and ask
the question:“What do they have?”
Help and give comments to students.
Ss discuss the answers in pairs and then answer
differently :
The king has what he wants.The prime Minister has a lot of power.
The banker has a lof of wealth.The singer has fame.The poor man has nothing.
The teacher concludes:
I think they have their favorite things.

Ask Ss to read the passage again and ask
the question:“Why aren’t they happy except the poor man?”
Help and give comments to students.
Ss discuss the answers in pairs and then answer differently :The king is worried about losing everything he has.The prime minister is worried
about losing his power.The banker is worried about losing his wealth.He is
worried about being followed by others .The poor man is worried about
nothing.So he is very happy.
Why is the poor man who doesn't have any shirts so happy?
