2. The status and function
This unit is the last unit we will learn in junior school. This lesson is designed to help students to s
hare past memories and experiences, and look ahead to the future. At the same time, the textbo
ok also educates students to pay attention to the unity of the students, respect for teacher and cr
eate a harmonious living environment for them. This reading lesson is helpful to improve the Ss r
eading ability.
As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The inp
ut has great effect on output, such as speaking and writing. Therefore, this lesson is in the import
ant position of this unit. If the Ss can master it well, it will be helpful for them to develop other la
nguage skills.
3. Teaching guideline
Teaching syllabus shows language is for communicating, developing their four skills, laying special
emphasis on reading. As for this lesson we should get the students to improve the ability to disco
ver, analyze and solve the problems. Reading is for information, for fun.

2. Then ask the students to read the passage quickly and find: (1) what kind of wr
iting it is; (2) who wrote it; (3) why it was written. Then let different students answ
er each question is 2b.
(Make the best of the reading strategies and lead the students to read efficiently.

3. Skim the passage and match the following items.
