Teaching aims:
一、Language goals:
1. To master the following vocabulary:
Key Word: snack
Useful phrases: clean your room, make your bed, take out your rubbish,
borrow some money, go to the store, buy some drinks and snacks
2. To master the following useful sentences.
Make polite Requests:
-Could you please…? -Yes, sure./ Yes, I can.
-Could you please you…? -Sorry, I can’t.
Ask for Permission:
—Could I …? —Yes, you can.
—Could I …? —No, you can’t.
二、Language skill aims:
To learn and master the use of “could” expressing requests and permission.
三、Emotional attitude aim:
1. To lead the students to master how they can make polite requests or ask for permission.
2. To encourage the Ss to take an active part in the class activity and speak out their ideas.
3. To train the students’ teamwork spirit by letting them attend group activities.
四、Learning strategy aims:
Increase the students’ interest in learning English through learning and cooperation.
2学情分析The students have much trouble understanding and expressing how to give requests. And they
are weak in English language points. At the same time, they are too shy to express themselves in
class. So the teacher should be supposed to encourage them to be brave and confident to
express themselves.

1. To master some useful phrases.
2. To use correct sentences to express requests or permission.

活动1【导入】Section B 1a-1e
Teaching steps:
Step 1. Preparation
1. Greetings
Greet the Ss by asking the students “Good morning!” “How are you?” “Happy to
see you. And you?”. The aim is to make the Ss feel relaxed and warm.
2. Free talk
a. The teacher shows an action of sweeping the floor and asks “What am I
doing?”. Then give the Ss a free talk “Do you like doing chores?”(First let them
discuss with each other and then quickly ask them the question one by one to
train their ability of reflecting.
b. Show some other chores such as “clean your room”, “take out your rubbish”
and ask the Ss to practice in pairs.
Step 2. Presentation1. Show a picture of sweeping the floor and present the structure “Could you
please sweep the floor…?” to express how to make polite requests. The teacher
acts the parent and the student acts the child.
P: Could you please sweep the floor? C: Yes, I can.
P: Could you please clean your room? C: No, I can’t. I have to study for my test.
Next practice the structure by using other chores.
2. Then present another structure like this:
C: Could I invite my friends to a party? P: Yes, you can.
C: Could I borrow some money? P: No, you can’t.
3. Let the Ss to practice the two structures in pairs.
Step 3. Practice
1. Ask the students about “what teenagers ask their parents’ permission for?”
“what do parents ask their teenagers to do?”.
2. Listening practice.
a. Pre-listening
Sandy is going to have a party. Discuss with the Ss about what she should prepare
for.
b. While-listening
Listen to the material and check the things in activity 1a.
c. Post-listening
Listen again and fill in the chart. And then complete the conversation.d. Pair-work
According to the listening material, make some small conversations and let the
students practice them in pairs.
Step 4. Production
Make a survey about if the students like doing chores and give a report.
Divide the students into three big groups and give them some time to ask them to
discuss the question with each other in their own group. One students writes
down what each member says and gives their report in the end. The teacher
should give an opinion which group does the best.
Step 5. Progress
1. Design some exercises to translate some important sentences into English.
work out the exercises and remember them with the students together.
2. Summary: retell what the students have learnt in this class.
Step 6. Homework
Arrange some other exercises for the students to complete.
※ Teaching notes:
1. Teach the Ss to know how to memorize new words.
2. Let the Ss learn to use the expressions Could you please? Could I…?
3. Encourage the Ss to learn to be cooperative and helpful.

Teaching reflection:
In this lesson, the students should master how to express “Make polite
requests” and “Ask for permission” while the teacher should play a role in leading
and helping them master necessary points. To create a true language
environment of learning English, the teacher gives the lesson all in English. Of
course, the teacher should try his best to encourage the Ss to take part in the
class activities. In a word, this should be an excellent and effective lesson.
