My six-year-old daughter Sophia has a profound love for painting. While I appreciate her creativity, I frequently find myself frustrated by the mess and the seemingly endless cleanup. Thankfully, my husband Lucas is a great support. He has bought washable paints and redesigned Sophia’s bedroom walls with wipeable drawing boards, creating a space where she can express herself freely, anytime she wishes. Most of the time, this arrangement fosters a harmonious atmosphere in our home.

One Sunday afternoon, the three of us explored a busy mall for new clothes. A designer white T-shirt adorned with delicate painted flowers caught my eye. It was so elegant and lovely, but the price tag took my breath away — it was far beyond our budget. With a quiet sigh, I reluctantly turned away.

Sophia noticed my disappointment and whispered something to Lucas. Lucas offered to buy us some drinks. Moments later, he returned with the drinks and a few other items.

On Monday afternoon I arrived home from work, exhausted and hungry. I found Sophia was scribbling (涂鸦) on a T-shirt with fabric (布料) paints in her bedroom. When I saw the splashes of paint on the floor and the messy graffiti on the T-shirt, I lost my temper. I angrily threw the paints and T-shirt into the trash.
