六、Teaching Procedure
Step 1: Warming-up (5 minutes)
1. Greet the students and have a free talk.
How was your day?
What did you do yesterday?
2. Show some pictures of famous cities around the world and ask students if they
know these cities.
Step 2: Presentation (15 minutes)
1. Present the clocks showing the time in Chongqing, Nairobi, and New York. Ask
students:
What time is it in Chongqing?
How about in Nairobi and New York?
Guide students to answer: It's 8 p.m. in Chongqing. It's... in Nairobi. It's... in New
York.
2. Show the text about the activities in these cities and ask students to read it
silently. Then, fill in the times on the blackboard.
3. Explain some key words and phrases, such as "rush to", "enjoy", "gift", and
"jog".
4. Play the recording of the text and let students listen and imitate.
Step 3: Practice (10 minutes)
1. Group work: Divide students into groups of four. Ask them to have a discussion
based on the text and answer the following questions:
What special dishes can people eat in Chongqing?
Where can people in Nairobi see big animals like elephants?
What are people doing in Central Park?
Can you explain why the time is different in each city at the same moment in
time?
Which city do you want to visit the most? Give your reasons.
2. Each group selects a representative to report their answers to the class.
Step 4: Production (10 minutes)
1. Show the sentences in 1d on the PPT. Students work individually to match the
sentences with the correct cities.
2. Check the answers together and ask students to explain their choices.
Step 5: Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
