【词汇用法】
1.prefer vt. 更喜欢 过去式,过去分词prefer-preferred-preferred
Teachers prefer students who work hard and never give up.
老师更喜欢努力学习并不轻言放弃的学生。
He prefers traveling / to travel by subway.他更喜欢乘地铁出行。
prefer sb. / sth. 更喜欢某人/某物
prefer doing / to do sth. 更喜欢做某事
prefer sb. to do sth. 宁愿某人做某事
prefer (doing) A to (doing)B 与(做)B相比更喜欢(做)A
I prefer Ao Bing to Ne Zha. 和哪吒相比,我更喜欢敖丙。
She prefers staying at home to going out. 相比外出,她更喜欢待在家。
翻译:相比打篮球,他更喜欢弹钢琴。
He prefers playing the piano to playing basketball.
prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.
= would rather do sth. than do sth. 宁愿做某事而不愿做某事
I prefer to take a train rather than fly there.
= I would rather take a train than fly there.
我宁愿乘火车,也不愿乘飞机去那儿。
翻译:她宁愿写也不愿读。She prefers to write rather than read.
She would rather write rather than read.
2.along with 随着;和…一起
She could sing along with music at the age of 5.
她在5岁时就能随着音乐一起唱歌。
Linda along with her parents wants to go to Sanya for a holiday. 琳达和她的父母想去三亚
度假。
注意:with / along with / together with与主语连用时,采用“就前原则”。
1)托尼和他的朋友们打算下周野餐。
Tony along with his friends is going to have a picnic next week.
2)一些苹果连同篮子,刚刚一起被扔进了垃圾桶。
Some apples, together with a basket, were thrown into the rubbish can just now.
3.dance to… 和着…跳舞
Everybody is dancing to the music.大家都在和着音乐跳舞。
此处to作介词,指“随着, 和着; 与…一致”,与along with相似。
We are doing eye exercises to music.我们正随着音乐做眼保健操。to作“与…一致; 适于” 时,后可接表示喜好、品味的名词。
You can add sugar to your taste. 你可以根据你的口味加糖。
4.suppose v. 推断;料想
I suppose (that) you’ll like the movie. 我猜想你会喜欢这部电影。
翻译:我猜想你不会喜欢这部电影。
I don’t suppose (that) you’ll like the movie.
注意:当主语为第一人称后跟宾从,表否定时要进行否定前移。
我想我不认识你。I don’t think I know you.
我相信你是不对的。I don’t believe you are right.
be supposed to do 应该做 = should do / ought to do
You are supposed to shake hands when you meet someone for the first time.
当你第一次与某人见面的时候你应该握手。
5.smooth adj. ①悦耳的 ②平滑的 ③(饮料)香醇的 ④顺利的
smooth music / skin / water / coffee
悦耳的音乐 / 光滑的皮肤 / 平滑的水面 / 香醇的咖啡
The cream can keep your skin soft and smooth.
这款霜可以让你的皮肤柔嫩光滑。
The water is as smooth as glass.水平如镜。
The coffee has a smooth and rich taste. 这种咖啡味道醇厚。
When the fire broke out, he escaped smoothly.

rough adj. 粗糙的;不平滑的;艰难的

6.spare adj. 空闲的, 不用的 = free v. 抽出;留出
in one's spare time 在某人的业余时间里= in one's free time
spare time to do sth. 抽出时间做某事
Perhaps he cannot spare any time to manage the company.
他大概抽不出任何时间管理公司。
7.case n[C]. 情况;实情;案件
He’s said to be lonely. In that case, we shall keep him company.
听说他很孤单,既然那样,我们应该去陪伴他。
in that case 既然那样; 假使那样的话
in this case 在这种情况下
in any case 无论如何 = anyway
in case + 句子 以防万一…
in case of sth. 如果发生某事You’d better take the keys in case I’m out. 你最好带上钥匙,以防我不在家。
In case of fire, ring the bell. 如果遇到火灾,请按铃。
There’s no point complaining now. We’re leaving tomorrow in any case.
现在抱怨毫无意义,不管怎样我们明天都要离开。

【重点句型】
1.Well, if you have spare time, do you want to watch a movie with me?
1) spare 此处用作形容词,意为“空闲的,不用的”,相当于free。
in one’s spare/free time 意为“在某人的空闲时间里”
I love reading newspapers in my spare/free time.
2) spare还可用作及物动词,意为“抽出(时间等),空出(房间等)”。
spare sb. sth. = spare sth. for sb. 为某人腾出某物
Can you spare him half an hour?
2.Hmm, depends which movie.
(1) 本句省略了depends 前的主语 it 和 which movie 后的定语从句部分 we’ll watch,这是
典型的口语表达形式。其完全形式应为:It depends which movie we’ll watch.
(2) It depends (on) who/what/how/whether …意为“那取决于……”。
It depends what day you catch me, and at what time of day.
这取决于你哪天见我,以及见我的时间。
(3) depend on此处意为“取决于,视……而定”后可接名词、代词、v.-ing形式或宾语从句。
It depends on the weather. 这取决于天气。
Choosing the right bike depends on what you want to use it for.
depend on还表示“依靠,依赖”。
Don’t always depend on your parents.
不要总是依靠你的父母。
3.I prefer music that has great lyrics.
句中的prefer意为“更喜爱;更喜欢”,后可接名词、v.-ing形式或动词不定式。如:
I prefer that white bag. 我更喜欢那个白色的包。
Tony prefers staying / to stay at home on weekends. 托尼更喜欢周末待在家。
此外,prefer还可用于句型“prefer ... to ...”中,意为“比起……更喜欢……。如:
Linda prefers apples to pears.
比起梨来琳达更喜欢苹果。
I prefer reading books to watching TV. 比起看电视来我更喜欢看书。

Music is different from songs. Songs express feelings with lyrics, but music with tones(音
调). Unlike songs, music tones themselves have no specific meanings. Different people may
get different things from the same musical performance. Though some music works are
