【重点句型】
1. I’d like to congratulate all the students who are here today.
Congratulate /kən'ɡrætʃuleɪt/v.祝贺
常用短语：congratulate on sb. 向某人祝贺
congratulate sb.on sth.为某事向某人祝贺
其名词为congratulation。
Congratulations！常用于口语中，表示祝贺某人取得成功、成绩等。
We congratulated him on having passed the exam.我们祝贺他通过了考试。

be thirsty for 渴望；渴求
be thirsty for为固定短语，其后可跟名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。其中thirsty作形容
词，意为“渴望的”。

ahead 是副词，意为“向前面；在前面”，常用ahead of 结构，表示“(在空间或时间上比某

He is ahead of me in English.他的英语比我强。
The work was done ahead of time.工作提前完成了。

set out 出发;启程
After a three-day rest, the travelers set out again.这些旅行者休息三天后又出发了。
拓展：set out还表示“着手……,开始……”的意思,常用于set out to do sth.结构,表示“着
手做某事”。
The train will set out in two hours.火车将在两个小时后出发。
They set out to perform the operation.他们开始动手术。
He is setting out to write a novel.他正着手写一本小说。
set out on sth. “开始进行新的或重要的事情”
When we set out on this project, we knew it would be difficult.

whom引导的是定语从句,修饰先行词those,whom在定语从句中作spent的宾语。
separate/'sepərət/adj.单独的；分离的
Our children want separate rooms.
/'sepəreɪt/v.分开；分离
separate…from…表示“将……与……分开”,指把原来连在一起或接近的部分分隔开来。
This is the man whom I talk with. 这就是我和他谈话的那个人。
This patient should be separated from the others. 这个病人应该隔离。
Can you separate the good ones from the bad ones?
汤姆有一个单独的办公室。Tom has a separate office.
把他和他妻子分开是不可能的。It is impossible to separate him from his wife.
6.Never fail to be thankful to the people around you.此句为否定结构的祈使句。祈使句否定结构大多由助动词don’t承担。
但若要加强语气，可用never替代don’t，表达汉语“千万不要……；一定别……”的意思。
若要进一步强调，表达语气更强的禁止，则可使用“Never, ever…”结构。
别来迟了。(不要迟到。)Don’t come late.
对人一定不要讲脏话。Never use dirty words on others.
这是一把装有子弹的枪，千万、千万不要碰他！This is a loaded gun. Never, ever touch it!一
定、一定不要把秘密泄露出去，你能够做到吗？

Maybe we three were the most unlucky graduates in our school history. I’ll never forget
the day when we had our graduation ceremony.
I was known for being careless. I often fell down for no reason. Since I fell off the stage
(舞台) during my primary graduation ceremony, my family bet that I would fall down again
during my next graduation ceremony. The day came so quickly. This time, I proudly made it
through the whole ceremony without falling. But I knocked off the whole backdrop (背景幕

was sitting quietly in the hall at eight in the morning, she didn’t expect her father to come to
